This could have a nasty side-effect. Next time an interesting CG might pop up, explorers will keep far away from it -> pretty sure that's the opposite of what the FDev want.
Or, that 'the community' gets organised and secures the system better?

The dropping in the number of contributors & contributors tend to indicate that @hutandrei 's hypothesis may be correct. I've also personally heard from a trusted source that many others he knows of have given up on this CG.

I think I have to state the obvious that explorers don't think like PvPers or even like PvE combat oriented commanders. It's unrealistic to expect otherwise.

Honestly? I think a lot of players still think Elite is the single-player game of times gone by. I know I did for a while there.

As a tangent... I think CGs are a legacy artefact, and no longer have a place in the game... but that's unrelated to this.

EDIT: Sorry, ones and twos with edit. As an example... the Thargoid war demonstrated the ability for FD to generate activities for concerted efforts by the playerbase, without needing to hand-jam a CG in there.

Being grumpy again: tell me how exactly explorers can organise trips out in deep space but can't co-ordinate with PvE guys for seven days? This is basic stuff and being brutally honest shows one dimensional thinking when things get vaguely unpredictable.

Its amazing to think years back we had Lugh and the playerbase outthinking each other to now, where just looking at a map and being aware of whats going on is too hard

So ... what percentage is this supposed to be for the lockdown to be lifted?

Influence is completely unrelated to lockdown.

You want to look at the security status bar in the faction panel on the right, per this post:

This is crap. For 2 days now I cannot play the game, because I am sitting here with thousands of scan reports which I wanted to submit - and it really is thousands, I did so much scanning that I am sick and tired of it all now, and have no will to continue doing it. I thought I might finally submit them, then I can fly far away, many thousands of light years - but I have no will to do that and hundreds of jumps, and then have to hurry back again hundreds of more jumps if the lockdown is lifted ... I am basically stuck.
And no, I do not care about bounties, "powerplay" or any of that crap. I only care about exploration.

Then submit the data elsewhere. You may lose engineered scanner in case that lockdown will be lifted, but for that one you need any delivery. ED is multiplayer game, things always can change when players can influence them. Colonisation will be no different in this regard.

I have my own carrier. I could have submitted it there, but I thought if we submitt it here into the community goal, the devs might actually do something with that data, so it might serve a "greater purpose" (this is what I also mentioned in one of my streams), so as to not just be another mechanical run-of-the-mill generated "mission" with no real purpose behind it.

It's also a Solo game. Trust me, I know. I sympathise with our explorer friend, and call me cynical, but my view is that part of the appeal for some of those who caused the lockdown was precisely about causing the upset to players like him - petty vandalism. "Look, I can break something!".

the only thing FD will have at the end of this is the number of reports submitted. I don't think the specific systems or anything will be recorded anywhere.

There's no greater purpose to the data gathering, it's just a narrative hook to give flavour to playing the game. The only thing lost by being unable to submit to the CG are your own additional credit rewards and the free module you would have received (which is presumably the same as the one you can currently purchase from a tech broker).

You might consider those rewards non-trivial and be unhappy about missing them - I would get that. But ultimately you can play the game if you choose to.
