Elite Dangerous | Trailblazers Release Schedule

I don't demand them, but I don't understand why they're being withheld until later. It's not like its going to change anything

It's way easier to misinterpret what's written down if you don't experience the actual gameplay.

Did you read the first post?

The notes normaly come near the end of the update process.

Do you think it's just in case they need to roll back? They wait until they are 100% sure we're getting our clammy claws on the update before the juicy notes are placed?

I've only been playing a couple of years - have Fdev ever actually reverted an update attempt on the day, and rescheduled it?

"Clammy claws", "juicy", lol. I think the zombie memes have infected me.

By looking at level of excitement and enthusiasm I wonder if there will be something like failed attempt of colonization where a cmdr seeing the amount of work and time decides to abandon the project. Will we be seeing "scafoding" in a a system or simply all player brought assets will be wiped after time of inactivity.

Wiped, if you fail to build the first starport then the system will revert to empty for someone else to try. If you finish the first starport but fail to finish the next I imagine the second one will get wiped, but there may be an inbetween, where the starport is complete but not all services are available, maybe missing stuff like shipyard etc.

From what Frontier have said so far:
- you get a limited amount of time to make the initial colonisation by completing the first station
- if you fail, the system reverts to being completely uninhabited and anyone else can have a go at it
- once you've got that initial station down, the system is permanently yours and you can take as long as you like over building additional stations.

The way I recall existing previews is that the only "temporary" structure that will or might disappear is the primary starport if it is not completed within the four week period. Anything you start after that can be come back to at a later point.

Me, I'm playing Mass Effect until I am forced to go out of the house for some stuff, which also means I will likely (and unfortunately) miss the stream when it is live, but I can just watch it/the Elite segment when I come home and am free again. Truthfully am looking forward to it more than the actual update today.

You know, it'd be funny if just the day after the colonization initiative is officially launched, our scanners start picking up some anomalous signals.

From what I heard once a commander deploys the nav beacon and meets the initial requirement, the system will remain in the state the Architect leaves it, and it will be permanent. So, I suppose there could be half done systems.

nope - if primary Starport isn´t finished in time it is wiped and the system up for grabs from others again. So no half-finished system will remain.
Unless you define unfinished as "not all possible slots filled" - that would be up to the architect to decide when a system is finished

But I am a player who love to create own stories in the Elite.
Well, if you've seen my works on Inara you know I'm rather busy writing/creating stories for my character(s) as well. This one just isn't doing much for me, and... well, other than Sol none of the systems affected during the Titan incursion actually lost any population (in terms of the BGS population figures). So it still just feels a bit weird, and I'm not really sure what colonization can add to the lore or ongoing narrative as a feature.

That is definitely one of the aspects I am withholding final judgement on though, because it might end up being rather relevant in it. Or it might not and simply have some light story backing but otherwise exist as the feature to build new systems. In any case I'm still not that likely to engage with it outside of a potential group effort. If deep space colonizing ever becomes an opportunity.

Have they defined what "first station" is; like large orbital port, surface port, orbital outpost?

They showed a pic of a settlement under construction and @Alec Turner seemed to get ideas about how it would make a nice place to race around.

So maybe some people will deliberately leave places unfinished, although that might depend on whether you can have multiple building projects going at once or you have to finish one before you can start the next.
