Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Fumerola Aquatis, the fourth and final one for me on this trip.

SRV Survey. Every time you comp-scan something it adds one of these targets, so it's great when you land in a dust-bowl type thing and all four species are there mixed up. You can just drive around* and zap them all from the turret, then get on with collecting three the same when you know where they all are. (And obviously, usually you would start on one of them as you go, with the other species waiting for you to go back and get them with an empty analyzer)

* I mostly drove but surprise surprise sample 3/3 for bacterium needed some upside-down Asp flying to find it.

Thanks. That sounds handy. I'm not the most patient person when it comes to exobiology so I'll give it a look.

Has anyone noticed that, on the Mandalay, you can't display your ship name decal?
Curious. I was able to place the name tags on the hull of my freshly bought Mandalay...
I am getting a salute in my honour* pretty much every time I dock and sometimes when I leave the CG station.
I've had that too, today. Though I noticed some distressed chatter on the X while that happened. Could have been related...

Some pirates were eager to get some of the stuff I was hauling. But they had no luck catching me.
I've been on the lookout for a small holobanner "Catch me if you can!", but apparently, noone makes those.
And I haven't found anyone who would make custom banners, either...

I think it's because, as @aRJay asked, I have a ship kit attached. I'll try removing it later and see if that works.

Hi :)
EDIT: Has anyone noticed that, on the Mandalay, you can't display your ship name decal? Your ID, yes. All other ships seem to be fine.
I've just checked my Mandalay (no ship kit) I can see my ship name in the livery menu's so it might well be it's something to do with the ship kit as aRJay suggests. ;)

Okay, what am I doing today in the game....hauling stuff for my Colonised system .... I'm presently ferrying stuff to and from my Carrier in a nearby system (planetary port) that's got most of the main commodities that I need for the station build.
It was usual in the past (pre-colonisation) to only see the odd one or two ships per 24 hours, or even none. I've just checked the present passage of ships and there's been 34 Imp Cutters (some of those mine), 18 Type 9 heavy's, 5 Anacondas, 15 Type 8's and a smattering of smaller ships etc.
This amount of traffic if taking into account all the other systems in the bubble has got to rank as about the highest number of players at one time in Elite I would imagine. It would be interesting to see some official figures. 🧐

Once my station's built I don't think I'm going to be an avid Colonisation jockey, I might start another Outpost somewhere in the future but just trucking stuff to and from stations on a permanent basis....well, even the thought just tires me out!... I like to do other varied stuff so to be honest I wouldn't want to tie myself down to just one thing, and I like to keep mobile.

Depends though on how some people Colonise the systems. If you can use another players colonised system to build an outpost in an adjacent system that doesn't seem fair to me. Looking from the perspective of the other (if you're not in that group or squadron) players. so personally I wouldn't want to do that, ethically speaking. I've recently seen some of my extensive mapped systems that have most of the planets mapped and first footfalls recorded, most if not all of those have already been snapped up by other players, so I've got to admit there was a hint of disappointment that that has happened, but that's going to be the nature of 'the game' from now on I think so... 🤷‍♂️

I've just got to get another 5000 of CMM then it's a Steel hauling session...though I've already started on that !

Jack :)

did you "apply theme" after moving the FSS sliders around?
Yup. I did apply a new theme in cool blues, which I like. Very easy on the eye. And you can change various bits of text to varying colours/brightness, but the basic scanning stuff seems immune to changes. This is what I have, exactly the same as before:

As you can see (or not!) the scanner spectrum itself is almost invisible. Makes it difficult verging on impossible to figure out what is in the system.

I'm stumped I'm afraid :(
