How could anyone be mad at this. I will die on the hill to defend these silly wild dogs.

lets make a pack i will defend every dog we get and vote for dogs if you support the cute kitties

I've gotta admit, as it stands this pack isn't wowing me. Like there's been so many Central and South American animals requested, and this one feels like it dodged all the top demanded ones but also is currently 4/5 of what appear to be technically less ambitious choices.

Like if they turned around and included macaws in the walkthrough exhibit though, that'd be something.

Or Burrowing Owls.

So, how would we be feeling if it wasn't a rhea and is instead a Northern ostrich. Just a silly little thought...
I think the majority would be a little disappointed, I'm fairly certain nobody wanted another Ostrich over a Rhea.

It would also beg the question of why there's a Saki in a generic Arid theme.

Macaws is the one thing that would have to be on the key art, it's a pretty significant selling point to the general population, not just zoo nerds.

As someone who lives in North America, saying coyotes are "one of the most iconic species" in my continent is rather audacious. There's a very long list of animals I'd much sooner consider to be iconic, coyotes being nowhere near the top.
Coyotes are iconic animals in the sense that they are well-known and easily associated with North America by the general audience. Probably due to their frequent appearance on documentaries about North American fauna, but also of course for the looney tunes. They might be less charismatic than raccoons, but they are still an iconic animal from that continent.

This is the part of the conversation that gets me nervous. Everyone mentioning all of my "nightmare scenario" animals as exciting choices lol bobcat, white tailed deer, american black bear, kinkajou lol

The day before the livestream there was some talk about coyotes and then BOoM. So all this talk about the bobcat and white tailed deers is scaring me lol
Well...
A couple weeks before the stream I started a new franchise zoo; the catch is that:
1. It's hard mode
2. I am restricted to a small square
3. It's in the desert.
Which desert, exactly? The Sonora desert.
I feel like I accidentally sort of predicted this pack...

Also, three hours before the stream I was talking to some friends on Discord and I was about to say: "yeah let's just hope they don't do something weird and throw in like a coyote... That would make me FURIOUS."

...and guess what happened next.

Very controversial opinion: more than ever, I feel like this pack is going to contain an unusual number of animals.
We are currently sitting at 195 animals in-game.
They showed 5 animals in the key art, which would bring the total to 200... Could this mean that the pack is just these five, and nothing more?

Or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, I feel like this large number of animals they hinted at (five - two more than with the usual key arts), along with the amount of "low effort" animals we've seen so far, could potentially mean that we could be getting a larger pack than usual, perhaps with like 8-10 animals. It could accommodate coati and mara, as well as some more clones like the bobcat or the bear.

But most likely than not it will be a regular 7-animals pack. Man, I sure do hope the last two don't end up being bobcat AND bear.

I'm still hoping, however unlikely, that they bring back Exhibit animals
Yeah, I am affraid we are done with exhibit animals. Last two packs set a new standard for the animal packs (7 habitat animals + scenery). And we can clearly see new building objects in the cover art for this one, so I think it will be the same this time. That does not mean the pattern cannot change again, but I would not bet on it.

I would still love to get a chameleon and my fav, Emerald Tree Boa.

It has to have a minimum of 7 animals since it was directly referred to as an animal pack and having all the animals teased in the key and them being 5 habitat animals would be strange.
The idea that there will be more than 8 is interesting since one of the moderators actually mentioned the idea during the stream of the final pack potentially being bigger like planet coaster 1

I think 'mad' is a strong word, but just speaking for myself I've made no secret of how utterly useless the vast majority of North American animals are to me. The coyote and bighorn sheep - two animals already I'm certainly never going to put in my zoos. If the white-faced saki does turn out to be the one (I'm less convinced than I was before - mostly because I'm sceptical that Frontier will actually give us a New World monkey) then that's great; it's not the monkey I wanted, nor the monkey I think the game needed, but by the gods it is a monkey and that will count for something.

The flamingo is pretty lame, but I understand the appeal, and despite it being a very uninspired pick I can see myself putting it in my zoos (if it is indeed the American/Caribbean flamingo, rather than something like the Andean or Chilean, though I'd probably use those, too).

I'm holding out for the unknown animals, and for confirmation that our monkey is actually a monkey, but it seems bold to me to lead with a coyote, an animal that practically nobody has asked for.

Plus there's the theming vibes - like, yes, Mexican decor does fit "Latin America"; that Spanish mission style architecture and what not. But when I think of a coyote I don't think of Mexico or Latin America, I think of trailer parks and rednecks.

Edit: I keep forgetting about the rhea. I'll probably use that, too. Thus far I've used all the in-game ratites.

I think the Bighorn is "suffering" from the same thing as the Blue Wildebeest.
Pretty much everyone agreed that the Blue was the wildebeest that should have been in the base game instead of the Black.
Same goes with the Bighorn. Once it's included, most everyone will use the Bighorn over the Dall Sheep, but there's just a bit of grumbling that we had to use 2 animal slots to get it.
I think the grumbling has a bit more merit for the Bighorn because Dall Sheep took up a DLC slot, while Black Wildebeest was in the base game, so it's more excusable.
I actually really like the Dall Sheep. Though I do like finally having a hot climate caprice, even if jd prefer the barbary sheep so that we could have Africa covered as well.
