DLC 19 Speculation

I prefer something like a duiker or a muntjac that at least are more visually appealing (and to me they are more exotic)
I also would prefer a duiker or muntjac, but both don't live in the Americas and thus, I would certainly take a brocket or pudu over quite a few other animals (including over the American black bear, though the latter is more unique than I thought)

I don't think we're getting the ocelot this time. Maybe I read things completely wrong, but I don't see Frontier putting the coyote as the dlc's flagship if there's also the ocelot in it (or any other felid tbh). Maybe American black bear or coati, though.
That being said, it wouldn't be the first time their flagship isn't the most charismatic animal in the pack, so I may be mistaken.
Keep in mind another pack uses the Jaguar as the headline so makes sense why they wouldn't choose the Ocelot who looks similar to headline a different pack.

My final bet:
Coati (probably white nosed but could easily be another)
Patagonian Mara 45% the other slot which is what I’m going with, but, 35% ABB, 15% Ocelot, 4% another monkey, 1% random wildcard. I’d love a non-tropical otter and the NA river otter has been the top subscribed mod for a long long time, a tribute to its popularity. But I I really think the last spot will be the Mara or ABB, I just feel like the ABB is a perfect last anniversary animal

This is pretty much what I'm betting except I do think it will be the South American Coati. They tend to go with the fan favourite choice here (especially when its high on the META wishlist) and its rare for them to actually go along with whatever the "cover theme" is. The only exception I can really think of is the siamang but we got the lar gibbon anyway, I can't see the white-nosed as much simply because I can't see them doing two coatis and if they do just one its going to be the one people are asking for not because "the artwork looks deserty"

Ehhh

Brockets are not very interesting to me. I've seen them in the wild. They are cute sure, but just... dull? IDK. They would be usefull for mixed exhibit as a small to medium size ungulates but i wouldn't have much use than that for it.

I would actually be thrilled by a brocket deer, there's a zoo here in Brazil that keeps the species in a massive walkthrough aviary with macaws, parrots, toucans, agoutis and some bigger animals in separete enclosures and i think it would be fun to do something similar in PZ.

Yeah but that's my point. Without all that... Are they really any exciting to get? We have literally none of that haha

I mean, yes? It's still a small tropical deer from SA, with the rhea and flamingo coming, mixing brockets with them plus capybaras or capuchins would still make out nice exhibits and mixed exhibits, i don't exactly see why the brocket would be bad by any metric. Sure i would prefer the marsh deer or southern pudu, but would welcome a brocket any day.

Idk i guess they are just boring to me. I have a couple of (mixed) enclosures i could place them in but still i also very much prefer both those deers you just mentioned.

That just says it all. I don’t need to add anything: “Honestly, I feel like having all the ratites and all the bears adds far more value than a 2nd African rhino.
The ratites and bears add much more in the long run than the black rhino. Besides being critically endangered, what's the difference between the black rhino and the white rhino?
About rhinos, the differences beside colors is that a black one has a hooked nose while a white one has a wider and squarish nose.

Dream Outcome:
  • Mara
  • Wapiti or Whitetail or Muledeer
  • Jackrabbit
Prediction Outcome:
  • Mara
  • Coati
  • Black bear
Nightmare Outcome:
  • Any goat
  • Any pig
  • Any another monkey

Fun fact - this is because white rhinos are grass grazers and live on open plains, whereas black rhinos are very shy, hide in forests and nibble leaves. Their necks are raised and their beak-like lips are perfect for curling around small branches.

Fun fact 2: when startled, a white rhino with young will sprint away with its babies in front of it, so it can shield them from whatever is behind. A black rhino will charge away in front of its babies, clearing a path through the forest. This strategy actually matches the type of predator: a leopard in the forest is an ambush predator and won't give much chase, so the black rhino just has to get their baby away asap. A pride of lions that might attempt a baby white rhino will chase, but can be scared off by a parent who turns around and shows its horns.

FF3: White rhinos enjoy company and are usually seen surrounded by zebra, wildebeest, warthogs and cranes. Black rhinos are extremely secretive and quiet and stay away from other animals that might attract attention.

Learned all this in South Africa last year :) saw lots of white rhinos but wasn't lucky enough to see a black one, but heard one a couple of times. Was lovely just to know I was in their presence.

I wish the in-game animals had different behaviours like this, then having both species would be more interesting for people.
