DLC 19 Speculation

I couldn’t be more thrilled about the bush dog. I adore this species. They’re going to be unlike anything currently in the game, and I think people are going to come around to them once we see some pictures or videos of them.
I'm waiting for screenshots of them with bated breath, for my money they're easily the most exciting species in the pack. Here's hoping Frontier does them justice!!

I’m slightly disappointed by no mara, coati, or American black bear, but I couldn’t be more thrilled about the bush dog. I adore this species. They’re going to be unlike anything currently in the game, and I think people are going to come around to them once we see some pictures or videos of them.

Ocelots are great too, and the fact that they so often got overlooked in SA discussions always seemed wild to me. They’re indispensable. Super happy they’re here.

I was already super on board with the initial reveals aside from the sheep, but I should also mention that I’m super glad it’s the American flamingo and not Chilean or one of the other oddballs.

Easily a top tier pack imo.
I have the exact thoughts about this DLC. Super happy about the dogs, very glad its the American Flamingo and Saki. Rhea will be super useful. Ocelot and Bighorn sheep I could give or take, but they are not bad picks.

But man, Mara and Coati. :(

It surely does not feel like the last pack to me. I think we might get at least one more.

I feel like we should all pick a Coati species and agree on it. I think South American is good. Even though I prefer White-nosed. I will gladly root for South American!

This is the big saving grace for me. Compared to the Zookeeper pack, this one doesn't give off "final pack" vibes.

And I'm starting to believe the theory that this pack wasn't planned as far in advance as others... And there's actually one more coming later this year. This one was pulled together (relatively) quickly. It may just be copium on my part but it just feels like they have to have at least a little more in the tank! Haha.

But there's also a chance that they may be deliberately holding back on the wishlist because of the purported sequel. If they hold off now it'll only build demand for some of those higher-on-the-wishlist species...

Maybe they're keeping the coati (or another highly requested animal from the region) for the anniversary patch?
I doubt they'd save an animal that highly-requested for the anniversary patch. TBH, several of the animals in this pack feel like they would have been received way better as anniversary animals (e.g., flamingo).

Honestly The Only Thing I Would Change About The Pack Is Swapping Out The Coyote For The Elk. The Elk Is Pretty Iconic To North America, A Very Easy Clone, A Highly Requested Species, One Of The Most Highly Downloaded Mods For Planet Zoo (Which Is Probably Playing A Role In The Choices At This Point) And, Fits The Pack's Theme Perfectly. Also The Trailer Music Is A Bop Like Usual.

Thinking about it, the bush dog may be the species I am most looking forward to seeing. They are the only species from the pack kept at my local zoo, and they are an absolute joy to watch.
Yeah that's where my biggest problem with the pack arrives. I was happy to get the coyote, then we got the bush dog and now the coyote is probably the weakest pick in the pack for me.

And this is because the bush dog is peak

I just don't get the forced hate towards the Coyote- look how incredible that Animal looks like- ofc there r better choices but cmon like I'm gonna use that defo more than I'm gonna use the Dingo, Wolves and Dhole mainly just cuz of how good the model is- but like I don't get how the coyote gets more hate than like the sheep while we got so many sheeps lately and we hadn't got a canine in like ages
Coyotes are incredible animals. Incredibly adaptive, critical to their ecosystems, and common in a wide array of areas (due to the prior two points). They're incredibly interesting from an evolutionary perspective.

But because of all that, as a North American, I don't really see any need to keep them in captivity. I can see how it could be different for folks outside of here but... For me? That slot could have gone to something a bit more unique from a zoo game perspective.

The model looks super awesome, though, and I'm sure I'll still wind up building for them!

I know! I really really hope there is something coming

No new foliage either it looks like :(
I guess there's still a chance they announce it tomorrow or something but... From what I understand the content creators didn't receive any info on it (and they usually do).

It's not that big a deal, I guess, just a little sad given some of the smaller updates they could have done that could make people really happy. If they announced a new update with some slight bug fixes and, say, making several of the base game wall sets and roofs flexicolor, a null text sign, and a new/smaller set of fonts? People would be ecstatic! Haha.
