New ship: Gutamaya Corsair

So what's the handling like compared to the iCourier or Chieftain?
Also hello everybody after I've been away since around 2019.
It handles good, but not as good as I remember flying the Imperial Clipper. Handling in supercruise feels slow(pitch is slow, roll is okay), but not as bad as the Cutter. Not used the Courier or Chieftain in a very long time, so can't compare to them.
 
Finished experimenting for a bit ... best hardpoint layout I've used in actual PvE combat so far was:

  • 2x C3 Efficient / Thermal Vent Beams
  • 1x C3 + 1x C2 Overcharged / Auto Loader Multi-Cannon
  • 2x C2 Guardian Mod Plasmas

Not 100% happy with the C2 MC but it does seem surprisingly good at keeping on track with whatever you point your nose at. It also seems perfectly viable for continuous fire with 3 pips in WEP which leaves more for shields / maneuvering.

However, I've just kitted it out with:

  • 2x C3 Efficient / Thermal Vent Beams
  • 1x C3 Overcharged / Corrosive Multi-Cannon
  • 3x C2 Guardian Mod Plasmas

I haven't actually tried this setup in combat with anything but on initial tests, it seems a little distro hungry ... you kind have to put 4 pips in WEP if you want anything to recharge and even then, when running Beams and Multi (to apply the corrosive effect) it takes a while to charge all three plasmas. So I think I'm going to revert it. Will probably roll a C2 multi with High Cap / Corrosive.

I'm particularly irritated with the 43 degree pitch rate. All the streamers indicated it pitched better than the Krait MK II and was very agile. This... isn't.

Edit: To be clear, this is what I'm seeing in the outfitting screen. In flight, the ship seems to be pitching faster. Can't be sure... "feel" isn't a good metric.

do you think it would work with all MC?
3 large gimballed / 3 medium gimballed with 1 corrosive 2 incendiary all overcharged (except the corrosive which gets high capacity) and experimental autoloader on the other 3

Probably … the three large seem to work well as a set, I’d be less sure about the C2s but if you can point straight at something they should all be able to hit.
