Frontier clearly had enough resources to pour into the bush dog, they absolutely could have made a proper rhea

I don’t believe that for a second. A rhea without its signature wing location annoyed this forum enough, how would a mara/coati missing something like that, but much worse be?

If i had to chose between animal i dont care about but they look good, and animals i do care about but they look like dookie id prefer them just stopping to do dlcs and get working on a (good) sequel. Because at that stage whats the point really

The bush dog got a lot of work put into it; same that happened with the sifaka. I know probably the coyote and the big horned sheep probably took less amount of work but they still look amazing. So what i would prefer is for them to maybe put all that work into the most requested animal from this continent?

But tbh i totally expect the coati to show up later on (we know they pay attention to the feedback otherwise this pack would have never happened and they included two birds and one new world primate plus the ocelot that was mentioned a lot). All of the animals in the ZK animal pack were perfect for previous packs but were clearly saved for later, idk if that was because they weren't able to finish them in time or because that was always the plan (i assume they do have road map for the game's development, even if it is updated every new year).

Yea I honestly think the coati is coming later. It’s the Mara I’m sadly more worried about….. and the Howler and spider monkey I’m even more worried about

Yeah... howler for some reason i think still makes sense if we have enough packs left to go back to a rainforest themed DLC. It has the whole chorus behaviour thing going on for it, good sexual dimorphism and they don't really need to do the prehensile tail stuff for it.

Mara i'm afraid is probably not going to happen. I've lost hope for it tbh. I'm waiting for GCM to make one at this point haha. I can only see it happen officially if we get a scrublands pack or a children's zoo pack, but i fear those concepts are not as likely now that we got Americas with a deserty focus and Barnyard that introduced petting zoos.

I am also very concerned for the Mara. I suspect the next pack will be a return to an old world region such as East Asia or Africa or a theme that not many popular South American animals fit into like islands or costal. Personally I think the Coati and Squirrel Monkey are the most likely South American animals left. Hopefully we get the Mara in some sort of scrublands pack.

The devs consider Central America to be part of South America, even if it doesn't check out geographically.

getting a coati with a slightly misshapen face or ugly fur is infinitely better then getting a rhea which literally has its wings in the wrong spot. Its so bad that I doubt the rhea will ever get a rework like the tapir or binturong because it is such a fundamental change.

Yeah i think is going to be either Asia (like in general) or a safari pack with heavy focus on Africa.

I think redoing biomes is the way to go. Like, here's a Drylands idea I had (inspired by @MrHyrax)

An around the world pack focused on dry areas, what Arid could've been, but more international:

1. Patagonian mara
2. Coati (any species)
3. Perentie
4. Blackbuck
5. Gray langur
6. Grey-crowned crane
7. American black bear

You can't really get a more "fundamental change" than the Tapir which literally had a brand new model made for it

not really it was mostly just the face but whether or not you think thats a big change the problem with the rhea isnt the model its that they would literally need to shift the wings so new animations would be needed alongside a complete remake of the torso.

In real life the rheas wings wrap round each other fully enclosing the torso and giving it a wingless appearance.
The rhea we got is literally an ostrich reskin so the wings stick out from the torso and arent big enough to fully enclose the torso
