Why is the broken BGS being ignored?

The galaxy of Elite Dangerous used to run on a back ground simulation that would allow Cmdrs to get involved with minor factions in a system and change their influence levels, leading to wars/elections/expansions etc.
Since the Ascendancy Update in October 2024 this system has had serious problems and yet we've had new ships, new features, road maps for the future but no effort to fix how the base gameplay has been broken.
A few examples (all have had issue tracker posts).
Systems that had powerplay 1 involvement now seem incapable of dealing with missions. The only way to affect the bgs with mission work is if the mission terminates in a system that isn't broken. Therefore 90% plus of missions are useless with only courier jobs or delivery missions (that happen to terminate in a working system) having any effect on faction influence.
Wars keep stalling, fighting for either side in space or ground combat does nothing for the war score. The longest war we've recorded so far lasted 19 days with a final result of 2-0 even though we fought every day to try and conclude the conflict.
We're now seeing pending wars that don't start, possibly local anti war protestors are holding things up but we can't find them to shoot them.
Work which should be affecting the bgs still (Bounties, Trade, Carto) is doing nothing and then a few days of work will suddenly come into effect.

The BGS should underpin the entire game and yet major errors aren't being dealt with, WHY?

I was thinking it had to do with the server load and them not being able to fully update everything on the Thursday tick. I read somewhere that many hours would be needed to completely update everything. They decided that wasn't good, so they probably have been updating colonization as a priority and neglecting the BGS.

Seriously though. We're all hoping the bgs reverts back to functional prior to PP2.0.
But I have to ask why hasn't that happened?
It's a huge part of elite.
I partake, 1000s of cmdrs do. Huge groups dominate it. Solo cmdrs and small groups participate. So it's not a fringe activity.
And having not heard a word from the gods! Makes me think sommat is coming.

At The Order of Mobius we exist because of the bgs, we don't hunt humans, we just try to bend the galaxy to our will. Communications with other large squadrons confirm that nobody has a clue what's going on and various treaties that have developed over years are now pointless.
Ok, we've got other things to keep us interested, shiny new ships and endless cargo hauling but the reason many of us play the game is now incredibly frustrating.

I held a PMF from when FDev initially opened applications for them, until the PP2.0 release. The release notes and comments surrounding PP2.0, to me, indicated that what relationship we had with the BGS was going to end, due to the interwoven nature of gaining merits, and the prominence of PP. That has generally come to pass

Working with the BGS was not originally intended as a source of focus, that's why it's called the "Background" simulation, and PMFs had to be manually inserted into the BGS. But, tons of us took it up as a source of direction in our game play. I believe FDev has plans to do something more with PMF's with 'Vanguards', but my guess that has more to do with colonization rather than pushing for influence. But, we will 'soon' see. The BGS appears to be again, in the background.

What's broken about it? It seems to be updating with new wars, boom, busts, and factions in charge daily; same as it ever was. My squadron has been heavily messing around with it for the last month or more to some success. One day we'll finally tear FGS down from the top spot on the leaderboard.

If you're lucky enough to have a working system you will be able to change influence levels by completing missions. Some of our systems are working, the majority are broken. Even in a broken system you will be able to affect influence with BVs, trade and carto (BVs being the most effective method). It gets complicated when you're trying to move a faction that owns nowhere to trade or drop carto and the only way of obtaining BVs is with a kill warrant scanner (slow and random).

To make life more interesting we now have combat zones that have appeared in a system (Vistaenis) where no war is happening 🤷‍♂️. The factions that are named in the conflict zones are 5.1% apart and both have "Current States" of None in the status panel.

Things are falling apart.

Dropped into a Low CZ that shouldn't exist, earned 600k of bonds (pretty standard for a LCZ). Just for fun the game awarded only 280k in bonds for the faction I was fighting for, somehow the pilots federation must be involved as 320k of the bonds were for them. Seriously, what the hell is going on?

True. But not fixing it has definitely made me play less, and led to less squadron engagement (because "what's the point any more?").:(
This is the problem, the involvement of Cmdrs in day to day work is dropping steadily (what's the point?).

In a further update to the mess that's happening:
The Vistaenis system now has two wars with CZs available in space - no ground combat zones even though the parties involved own Ody bases.
War 1 ; Vistaenis Empire Party (on 11.7%) against Devaku Crimson Vision Network (on 16.3%)
War 2; Vistaenis Empire Party against United Vistaenis Resistance (on 5.9%)

Other than the obvious problem of VEP fighting two factions at once there's the other question of how would UVR be in a war while below the "Conflict Level" of 7.5% Inf.
Obviously all factions involved still have a Current State of "None"
