DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

I mean, i can tell the difference between the flamingos, i can't say the same about the lions.

Also, tecnically the asiatic lion already is ingame, the ingame lion map includes the India range and the scientific name matches, so...
but the foliage map doesnt so in all practicality it isnt the same thing.
Even if its not technically a different subspecies most sources do draw a distinction between the 2 populations so its possible to see it again

You don't actually have an argument.
My argument is that a different species of flamingo with different collors and habitats is very different from a different population of lions that is already in game tecnically, which was the point of my joke. And as @Mjmannella pointed out the only animal in the game comparable to the Asian lion is the arctic wolf, which most people don't like either.

Btw, i didn't want the flamingo. I left it clear before but if i could i would have swap it by the Scarlet ibis. I'm just defending it cuz i find the comparison riduculous.

Well, they could just add the Asia tag to it, sounds easier than reselling the same animal again.

Oh I completely agree I think species level should be the default since every time they do a subspecies there is backlash I just think that the asiatic lion is the only one that is even remotely justifiable.
I also just really wanted to point out the weird inconsistencies with the ingame range maps and whats actually useable.

I would much rather get a fully upgraded northern lion that properly includes the asiatic population than get a new subpopulation of big cat.

I have to agree that there isnt much difference between the flamingos and lions.
Yeah one is a different species and one is a subpopulation, but that doesnt really matter in game when they both look and act pretty much the same.
Yeah the asiatic lion would pretty much just be a payed remaster, but for such a basic zoo animal that goes into almost any project you can imo make the argument that its worth. Especially when the current version looks this out of place

Obviously but it's seem silly
Honestly what's silly to me is going back and forth about why people are "wrong" to want it. These discussions are so pointless because nobody ever changes their minds about it.

If an American Flamingo was in the cards there's absolutely no reason to think that an Asiatic Lion can't be. It's not silly to discuss it if people want it to be in the game 🤷‍♂️

But that’s not what was being discussed. What happened was I said IMO it would be a wasteful slot because TO ME there are other things that are more interesting. Then I got the reply equating it to the American Flamingo. So I replied and said it is not equal to the flamingo because of x y and z in my opinion. Again I even stated everyone is entitled to their opinion. But it was the comparison that we were talking about. Regardless it is what it is. I know people aren’t going to change their minds I just don’t want people to twist my argument when that’s not what happened

My post wasn't directed you or your situation though 😅 My post was directed at Jonas.

Honestly yea, I'm not a fan of adding subspecies of species we already have but I think you could definitely justify the Asiatic Lion. This is a pretty iconic Indian animal and considering how important lions are for a zoo game having a second version that looks better would certainly be justified. It's not something I'm going to be asking for but if we ever get it I'd be fine with it

I just can't stop making pack concepts, so here is a Tropical House Pack, now thinking about it getting a coati and duck the the same pack is unlikely so replace the duck with a Victoria Crowned Pigeon.

My main idea for a Jungles Animal Pack isn't in need of any major changes after the Americas Pack (sadly)
Jungles Animal Pack:
  • Brazilian Porcupine
  • Black-&-Gold Howler
  • Matschie's Tree-Kangaroo
  • Mantled Guereza
  • Red-Footed Tortoise
  • Ring-Tailed Coati
  • Southern Tamandua
Beautiful. Missing birds though. Scarlet ibis, Victoria Crowned pigeon and White faced whistling duck all good options. I would probably replace the tortoise for a bird and (me personally) the porcupine for an agouti or another bird.

Southern Animal Pack could cover a ton of gaps in the game taxonomically and geographically...
  • Lion-tailed Macaque
  • Blackbuck
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Black And White Tegu
  • Tree Kangaroo
  • Vervet Monkey
  • White-faced Whistling Duck
I don't think its realistic but it would be cool.

Beautiful. Vervet monkey i could swap for echidna, howler or grey crowned crane but i like it as well and we also needs a standard african monkey.
