This was supposed to look more marketable?

Good news! We just got 7.I hope we get an animal!
They just gave us another flamingo.Man I know you guys want a new looking lion, but I’d be so sad to have a slot wasted imo on the asiatic lion. So many better picks than another flavor of big cat
You're right, they could use the effort put in an asiatic lion on another chicken or another crane. They just gave us another flamingo.
New species >>>>>>> new subspeciesThey just gave us another flamingo.
I know you're deliberately missing my point, but I'll explain it anyway:You're right, they could use the effort put in an asiatic lion on another chicken or another crane.
Can't wait for guineafowl and brolga.
But it would be imo. As @Mjmannella a species doesn’t equal a subspecies, and a group that is further under represented like birds could honestly use the clones over more cats… and not even a new species of cat at thatI know you're deliberately missing my point, but I'll explain it anyway:
If the flamingo is not a wasted slot, then neither would be an Asiatic lion.
I mean, you gonna need to explain it further, cuz the analogy don't work for me, as the flamingo is neither a wasted slot (i would say unispired, but not wasted) nor is in the same baseline as the asian lion considering the flamingo is from a different species for a different continent while the Asiatic lion is just a population of lions.I know you're deliberately missing my point, but I'll explain it anyway:
If the flamingo is not a wasted slot, then neither would be an Asiatic lion.
Because it’s a bird (under represented) and a new species not just a subspecies. It’s not that hardFrontier chooses subspecies because they're easier to make than more different and complex species. They chose another flamingo over the spoonbill or ibis because it was easier. And with that said, if the flamingo is not considered a wasted slot, then how is Asiatic Lion a wasted slot? It does the exact same thing as the flamingo, improve the base model. If the flamingo was well recepted I don't see why the lion shouldn't get that same reaction.
One that looks almost identical to one we already had just with different coloursBecause it’s a bird (under represented)
Once again, they look the exact same. It doesn't matter if they aren't actually subspecies of one another, any casual player will see them as just 2 types of flamingos.and a new species not just a subspecies.
Taxonomic groups are important when discussing here because we just don’t have many birds in the game. It doesn’t matter if we get 3 more flamingos it’ll still be less than the amount of cat variety in the game for a group of animals that very much out numbers felids in real life zoos. Add on to that that we didn’t have ANY birds for the Americas and this makes it an even more crucial pick. The only reason for another POPULATION (not species) of lion is to have a better looking one. Meanwhile you had that + they’re underrepresented + location they’re from + a new species it really makes it no contest as to which is a a wasted slot vs which isn’t.One that looks almost identical to one we already had just with different colours
Once again, they look the exact same. It doesn't matter if they aren't actually subspecies of one another, any casual player will see them as just 2 types of flamingos.
What has species/subspecies got to do with anything? It's an arbitrary distinction you're using to make yourself feel better about wanting one over the other even though they're functionally identical. But it would be imo. As @Mjmannella a species doesn’t equal a subspecies, and a group that is further under represented like birds could honestly use the clones over more cats… and not even a new species of cat at that
As said above, the distinction is arbitrary.I mean, you gonna need to explain it further, cuz the analogy don't work for me, as the flamingo is neither a wasted slot (i would say unispired, but not wasted) nor is in the same baseline as the asian lion considering the flamingo is from a different species for a different continent while the Asiatic lion is just a population of lions.
You can if you cared enough to learn. You couldn’t tell the difference between asiatic and African lions if someone didn’t tell you
That’s fine if you want them. No one’s telling you not too. In my original post I said IMO. But the only way to have a tangible comparison and conversation that isn’t arbitrary is to add those criteria. The fact remains that there are less birds than cats. The fact remains that the American Flamingo is a different species than the Greater. The fact remains that there was no American birds and now there are. The only way to have a conversation is with the criteria. What has species/subspecies got to do with anything? It's an arbitrary distinction you're using to make yourself feel better about wanting one over the other even though they're functionally identical.
As said above, the distinction is arbitrary.
You don't actually have an argument. The only difference is that you wanted the flamingo and you don't want another lion.
Guess what? Some of us want another lion, and didn't want the flamingo. It's exactly the same.
You can if you cared enough to learn.
And you'll easily be able to tell the difference in-game - one is the old, crappy base game model, the other will be a new model that looks 100x better.
Edit: I'm now advocating for the Asiatic lion. Out of spite.
I mean, i can tell the difference between the flamingos, i can't say the same about the lions. One that looks almost identical to one we already had just with different colours
Once again, they look the exact same. It doesn't matter if they aren't actually subspecies of one another, any casual player will see them as just 2 types of flamingos.
