Well I really like the way it looks, but if it does not match or exceed the MK I's cargo capacity, I will make do with the Cutter/Carrier combo, and they can kiss my early access ARX's goodbye.

Leave Star Craft out of this!!!nope, i admit its been awhile since i played ED and yes im playing SC to ...
Always the important questionWhat size drive are you using when calculating the MkI’s cargo capacity?
I only care about how much it can carry and how far it can jump when heavily loaded. IMO, these 2 things will make or break this ship.
A minimum of 6100t, for taking large team delivery missions into safekeeping in one trip, instead of several. How much do u want it to carry?
I don't have a specific number in mind, but I would like it to be a significant increase over the T9/Cutter, but I'd be very happy if it was around double their capacity. Length is only 1 dimension; if you include it's width and height, it should be able to accommodate a sizeable increase in cargo load (not to mention the handwavium factor). But like I said, it's jump range as well as it's cargo capacity will make or break this ship. A huge capacity with a short jump range would still be a fail. In the end, players have been asking for some relief for all the hauling required for colonization; I am assuming that the Panther mk2 is going to be the response. The requested solution would be to move lots of cargo faster. How much do u want it to carry? This ship will be only a bit longer than a Type-9 based on the WIP images. So maybe it's only 1000 tonnes / units.
Why can't people just say they want overpowered things without having to justify it with a game they clearly haven't played or forgotten about? That would be in keeping with the original though.

That's just overkill!A minimum of 6100t, for taking large team delivery missions into safekeeping in one trip, instead of several.
I'll stick me neck out here and say it will definitely have more cargo space than the T9 & Cutter, but I'm not going to guess how much. That is something Frontier will have no doubt already decided...one would imagine...okay, probably not!I don't have a specific number in mind, but I would like it to be a significant increase over the T9/Cutter, but I'd be very happy if it was around double their capacity. like it or not this is Elite IV (pedantry aside). You (not the literal you) may never have played the original games and that is fair enough, but it is totally understandable for those who did (and without those players this game would never have gotten off the ground) want there to be as much consistency with the other games as possible. Why can't people just say they want overpowered things without having to justify it with a game they clearly haven't played or forgotten about?
My question wasn't why do people reference the old game.like it or not this is Elite IV (pedantry aside). I think you’ve confused it with the Lynx Bulk Carrier, which was a Panther Clipper sliced in half and 1000t cargo containers bolted to it.The new panther clipper is smaller than the old one - the old one could not dock in space stations and had to be loaded and unloaded parked up outside

i have been googling frantically since posting and just came back to edit to actually question if i was wrong.... because i do remember having a clipper but dont remember ever having issues docking it. (I also had a Thargoid ship and iirc that was even bigger still)I think you’ve confused it with the Lynx Bulk Carrier, which was a Panther Clipper sliced in half and 1000t cargo containers bolted to it.

You're looking for consistency? On the interwebs? My question wasn't why do people reference the old game.
My question was why do they do so incorrectly.
My entire point is that they aren't being consistent.

There was a bug where when you first received the Thargoid ship you had a hold stuffed with 65,323t of Alien Artifacts and 70t of Military Fuel - after a reload it went down to a more sensible 170t of cargo space with a Military drive fitted(I also had a Thargoid ship and iirc that was even bigger still)

660ly jump range was not to be sniffed at though!
