I don't like any of the on-foot cosmetics.

Perfectly in keeping with my chosen play... (why should the Artemis be bland?)

... also comes in pink!

I'd say that as long as such eccentric designs for ships and suits would appear once on a blue moon and very cheap/free, one could regard them as a novelty, use them once, laugh and then turn towards some grounded outfits again but I haven't seen many over the last couple of years. I'd like to see more 'used' looking ship paint jobs, paint jobs which respect the placement of decals and which are actually detailing the ship's fuselage?
Instead, we got clown car designs or very lazy 2 colour jobs, slapped carelessly over the ship body. I would go as far and say that even our beloved chrome, chromed, gold and golden jobs are just lazy because they pose almost no work for the graphic designer.
I suggest:
  1. paint jobs which represent companies or factions in a stylish way (not only slapping 5m high letters on a basic colour)
  2. 'used' looking paint jobs (I am aware of the wear and tear model but I want more)
  3. paint jobs which enhance the ship's designs without being 'in the face'
  4. paint jobs which create effects by combining matte and reflective parts on the actual ship elements like wings, undercarriage and other greebles

This is such a bummer. The sole difference between a ragged anarchy base on the fringes of the bubble vs a high-tech research facility in a core system?

A discarded pizza box on the floor.

Oh my, those rascals!

I spotted a discarded tablet right outside the elevators that take you to the station concourse. It was lying on one of the seats with the display turned on. No way to interact with it though.

Lots of unfinished or dangling stuff in Odyssey, it's a pity.

I really would like to give fdev some money for on-foot cosmetics, but they're...oddly styled.

The thing I've noticed is that they're so BUSY. Every single one is absolutely covered in tiny little details or muddled patterns which don't show up anywhere but in the character screen(because it's rare to get close enough to notice), but don't improve the look of things.

Someone on reddit said it best; they all look more like costumes than something you'd actually wear. The Strike Combatant pack, for example:

It looks like something you'd wear to Comicon, not into battle.

Even the more realistic ones tend to have a fantasy vibe to them. Nomad, for example:

It's not BAD, but what's the deal with that massive pauldron? The massive scarf? Meanwhile, the body remains way too bulky, way too busy. The scifi equivalent of a dress made of belts:

Can't we get some more streamlined designs? Dune, for example, had some really good designs that felt realistic.

And as for faces, we seem to either completely cover the face or not cover the face at all. Why not split the difference?

I put a lot of effort into my character's face, after all, it's annoying to not see it.

Powerplay 2.0 has actually made me care about on-foot content again. Let me actually make myself look good!
Finally people are talking about this, i personally want the empire and federation helmet settlement NPCs are using, i'll pay for it, just put it on the store, the only cosmetics i bought was the most cheapest pack because the expensive cosmetics didn't look much better

What hurts me the most is that, almost every single day people post pictures of their new suit (and face, and ships...) from another well known/long-spoken game in development... Cm'on FDev, if they can do it with over $1billion from the backers, sure you can do it, too?

But that's OK, I like my ARX-bought Wraith outfit...I feel unique when I wear it...not... ;-)

I'm not sure your assessment is completely fair. This is what my character looks like:

This is pilot FLIGHT suit customization, right?
Like, you cannot apply this to any of the FIGHT suits (Dominator, Maverick, Artemis)?
Like, only you will ever see it...when you play with the external camera and take screenshots..? :-/
(If only there were mirrors here and there, like in Cyperbunk)

Have to admit this would look pretty cool with the right "helmet"...

Some of these aren't even ingame footage. They're from Star Citizen's marketing material and don't actually exist.

Others require a $15 monthly sub to even access the store to get access to paying upwards of $40 usd to get them. The two guys in bandana's are from an "inside star citizen" promotional video.

Why are you showing off your default Crusader Spirit A1 and Buccaneer in a thread about outfits?

Until recently if you died in these outfits they were gone permenantly until the next patch cycle. The recovery function recently added for them is also frequently either non functioning, or just duplicates the items.

The cost of all of these outfits and ships combined could would buy you around 250k + arx to enjoy for further context.

if that is so good why are you here?
Dude doesn't like one aesthetic aspect of the game, so he should play something else? I'm missing something in that chain of logic.

Toon skins/cosmetics are one of the ways that game blows this one out of the water. And plenty of people are both there and here waiting for one, the other, or both, to get over its hangups and become the perfect game. It's not either/or. There's no exclusivity clause.

Need I remind you
DO i need to bring the bears into this?

There’s lots of people in both.

TBF as terrible as they are, there is more bad design choices over here when it comes to suit cosmetics.
I get it but also half of the Arx Store isn't locked behind a monthly subscription paywall either. A set of three suits is around $19 usd while a single set in SC can be $30-$40 + in some of the cases providef a $15 subscription to the subscriber store if you missed the month it was handed out to subscribers.

Also you potentially lose it when you die if the item recovery refuses to work.

Or you potentially dupe it by accident on death, which they will still ban you for in an alpha, which is very silly.
