What is your expectation?

My expectations are:
  1. A guild bank for storage of modules, ships, SRVs, materials, credits that can be shared between Vanguard members. Maybe also commodities, goods, data, components.
  2. Better in-game communication for Vanguard (team, faction) members.
  3. Better communication for Vanguard members outside the game.
  4. New (co-op, PVE and PVP) missions for Vanguard members.
  5. A tool for players to create custom missions
  6. Vanguard integration with Powerplay and system colonization
  7. A Vanguard headquarters. This facility can be built by an Architect in a colony. It has a customizable interior and exterior.
  8. Vanguard cosmetics such as paintjobs, flags, icons.

Item 3 being outside the game is outside the remit of FDev and so purely down to you and other Vanguarders.

My expectations are that lots of people on the forums are going to hype up their personal wish lists for anything that contains any word or letter used in a post by FDev so that they can complain loudly when reality bites. Just like all the Base Building stuff last year.

My hopes for Vanguards is that it doesn't negatively affect my enjoyment of the game.

I am expecting:

1. Upon release: an unfinished update that should have had several more months development prior to release.

2. Lots of snake themed disconnects.

3. Clunky non-intuitive user interface updates.

4. A bunch of player frustrations because of bugs and some features.

5. After several months it will work pretty good. And players will have adapted to weird quirks or concepts.

6. Some new issues that will never be resolved. Abandoned.

7. Slower System Map.

My expectations are low enough I won't be too disappointed regardless of what happens.

That is my #1 hope.

I am concerned about the classic issues such as player disconnects, frame rate issues, slower maps, and added clunkiness to the existing UI. If that is all okay then I can enjoy playing activities that I have always liked.

My expectation is that, no matter what Vanguards will bring, the same group of people as always will condemn it as lackluster and lazy. I also expect the same old hype train before the update that has no chance other than to crash when the update launches. I furthermore expect that players just never learn not to build up expectations that over time turn into "facts" while having no information whatsoever to support those expectations in the first place.

I don't know what to expect with Vanguards. I'd like a revamped interface and member handling method. Maybe something we can manage via CAPI, though that's a read-only API as far as I'm aware.

I just don't have a lot of experience playing with others in the actual game, most of it is external communication.

I am not saying you are wrong..... however FD historically have form for over hyping, dropping / nerfing key features they they tease without letting people know clearly and obviously as well as coming out with vague comments which are surely designed to get the player base expecting more than is coming, and letting the rampant speculation go unchecked.

plenty of blame to go around on all counts imo.

Well 3 isn't going to happen as it's nothing to do with the game :)

5. Really? You are expecting them to release a custom mission creation tool with this update? Something that's been requested for years just dropped with an update that's focused on improving group play. Be serious :)

2, 6, 7 and 8 I reckon you've got a good chance of.

While I agree that Frontier has that special way of advertising things, we don't need them to overhype an update. Especially those here who have been around the block a few times should know better. Look at some of the items already posted. The panther clipper having some kind of "unique feature" is a base expectation? Where does that come from? Certainly not from Frontier.

I thought they implied 5 was one they were working on.
