Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'm getting rubbish bounties today. The last two were Anacondas at a measly 12K, with a K-warrant scanner. That's something you might get for a harmless Cobra.
Don't do PowerPlay for the bounties. Got a measley 200 Cr. for a Master Python. Ok, I admit - it caught me scooping Escape Pods and other assorted wreckage in one of their systems :p. At least, since they started the fight, they became Wanted, which probably prevented system security from opening fire on me when they arrived five minutes later.

And the CMV is fantastic. I was wondering during the fight why my ship was so sluggish - and discovered afterwards, when trying to jump to SC, that I had the cargo scoop open all the time...
I'm seriously considering getting rails now.

Slowly wending my way back to Colonia - about 500ly to go. Starting to find a few previously-discovered systems but all seem to pre-date the DSS - just the star and nearest planets. Leaves plenty for me to pick up. Including this:

My first recepta conditivus, worth cr71m. Nice!

Another marker of the proximity to civilisation is litter. Every landable moon and planet has distress beacons, crashed wreckage and occasional structures, all on "undiscovered" worlds. I understand that those responsible probably didn't live to log the claims, but it would be nice if FDev could do a clean-up some time.

Nice. I've not seen that one before.

I was considering today whether to experiment with swapping out a beam for a railgun.

I don't do Powerplay though. Is that low bounty typical of what you might recieve? Today has been an outlier for me.

25 fc jumps out from colonia to beagles.obvious a well flown route, stopped to mine trit for a try, hahaha 1 hr minining 10 t. no more was the cry lol.picked up couple of bios for a break ,fuel for fc ok,but not to sure if spnash rout plotter is to accurate, but so far so good.
My experience with that plotter is that it is accurate but you need to keep in mind that it only knows stars that players have visited so all your waypoints will be discovered systems.

I got round this by jumping my carrier using the plotter then flying my ship to catch up using the ingame route plotter so getting new discoveries.

I got around the well traveled route issue by doing a couple of carrier jumps away from the straight line between known space and the destination, when coming back to the bubble I also didn’t pick a location in it but one out to one side, though even then most stuff had been found when I got close but I was coming in from SagA* so it wasn’t a surprise.

Don't assume, they may be visited systems but a lot have not been scanned and mapped, I have had several that have had some very nice bio all no footfall (20 - 40 samples), there are a lot of systems fairly near the bubble (2,000 -10,000ly) where these "explorers" with there max sized fuel scoops have just jumped in scooped if needed and jumped out:)

When I am jumping using carrier route plotter I always get out and have a quick (or sometimes not so quick) scan, I run the canonn plug in EDD so if I am not in to much of a hurry I will also scan any icy rings for Trit hotspots as well.

I refitted the Type-8 used for rescue missions during the Cocijo war and turned it into a modest mining ship to find platinum.

I did actually try mining very briefly in the early days but wasn't that interested. It's quite chill though. I'm in Delkar and haven't bumped into a single pirate (yet).

Plus, I'm picking up the odd mat along the way so that's a nice little bonus side effect. Less need for surface mining.

I thought you guys would do something weird and I'd have to jump in with extra mining to stay in the top 75%. The requirement has actually dropped though. It went from 162 to 150.

Ah, Delkar. Spent some time there mining platinum. Had one interdiction in maybe 30 or so loads in Solo. It's great that there is a buyer right there in the system. How's the price these days? When I started there it was 217,000/ton, then it dropped to like 50,000/ton. That sucked, so I moved on to other things.

Spent some time on engineers and got my Mandalay tuned up after grinding materials. It's now at 78.8Ly jump range.

Now, no more mining. My goal has been explore/exobio. I used Spansh to create a list in the Bubble to make some cash and get comfortable with the process before I head out to the nether reaches and big money.

When I started, I was down to 47M credits. Now? 771M as of yesterday. Bubble Billionaire here we come! Stratum in the Bubble is only 19M because no First Footfalls, but it's credits and lots of good practice learning when and where to scan and land. Of my list of 100 systems, I've been through almost 40 systems to make close to 1 Billion.

I don't ever see me laser mining again. My Krait mining ship now has a tarp over it sitting collecting dust! Exobiology is where the real money is.

Oh yeah, platinum's currently worth double that for the CG, as Ashnak pointed out.

I completely built a new new Mandalay almost exclusively for exploration and its range was about 62Ly. I used it for the Guardian grind and just went in to streamline it even more. I think it's near 78Ly with the FSD booster.

The problem is that I had to drop to class 4 shields and I don't quite understand the two mass numbers in outfitting, so I launched and flew myself straight into one of Jameson's rings to test them out. The other Mandalay player waiting to dock must've thought I was some kind of idiot (he may not be far wrong). They worked fine and I can engineer them with the standard reinforced option.

LOL, I'd loved to seen that! I've wondered how it would look from the surface of a planet when a ship came screaming in and hit the planet like a meteor.

I use a 3D Shield Generator/Grade 5, Enhanced Low Power/Stripped Down, and one OD Shield Booster Grade 3 Heavy Duty/Super Capacitors. I've only got to Grade 1 Armour, Heavy Duty/ Deep Plating. I don't have discovery of the other main engineers yet, some I likely won't, so I've engineered about all I can for now.

And yes, Guardian FSD Booster, with a 5A FSD (SCO) Grade 5 (Increased Range/Mass Manager), Sensors (Lightweight) and Power Dist (Engine Focused/Super Conduits) all Grade 5. Thrusters Grade 3 (Dirty/Drive Distributors).

I have two other Shield Boosters Grade 1 and 2, but decided to use one for now for weight reasons.

I'm quite happy with it.
