DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Oh boy did I not expect to return to such activity on the forum today, let alone DLC announcement.

Ratel is popular choice, not necessarily for me, but wider community loves it. Lion Tailed Macaque is fantastic pick, and one propped by this forum, so great choices there.

However it pains me to see Elephant silhouette ngl.

I thought even clone heavy India could have good picks, but somehow to this day recent choices still seem to "ambush" me.

There's hundred deer and antelope combinations with Asiatic Lions and whatnot if I were to go for "realistic" and/or "easy to make" lineup, but never in million years would I guess that they would go after Asian Elephant subspecies 🙃 I mean honestly that's Zoo Tycoon Xbox levels for me.

Another thing, if at worst we're talking about Sri Lankan subspecies, pack can't be named "India" right? I mean, I'm not very educated on that part of the world, maybe there are some non-political definitions of India that include Sri Lanka and I'm just wrong.

Maybe something like "South Asia", even tho it would be awfully close in naming and cover color to "South-East Asia".

Maybe it just has misleading picks of cover animals, like Zookeeper's, and the theme is like more wider Asia. In that case at least there would be more interesting Elephant picks to choose from (not that any are for me at this point) like Critically Endangered Sumatran Elephant or Borneo Elephant that would stand out in size.

On the bright side, at least they included it in cover art, I would be shocked to see Elephant in roster reveal.

you know I had a feeling we were going to get news when I magically woke up around stream time but I truly did not expect a teaser this stream.
I also would like to point out I totally called it we are getting a summer pack and probably a dual release with console I was off by a month since it probably coming june instead of july but still.

I really hope they don't just pull an Americas on us and leave out the most popular/requested candidate (blackbuck) in favour of some random replacement... Also, I really want a bird, and I'm tempted to say that it's a pretty likely inclusion... We've been getting new birds really often with the last few packs, and we have enough bird rigs that could be easily reworked into Indian birds (crane, peafowl/pheasant, heck even junglefowl), so I'm pretty confident that we will get a bird

so with the honey badger confirmed and the lion tail macaque probably being the visible monkey its clearly south asian inspired. I that that the elephants are probably just to cement the theme and likely mean nothing but could be the srilankan which I would be disappointed by. The idea that we could see an india pack without the cobra as an exhibit animal actually throws me into a primal rage though.

Well I certainly wasn’t expecting a dlc announcement today. Another monkey, we are truly on a generational run an Indian monkey was an absolute must for me and although the macaque isn’t my top choice it is still a great one. The honey badger is also good, nice to get another mustelid. I don’t even know what to think about the elephant.

My hopes for the remaining animals are all relatively simple clones so I have some hope. The artwork leads me to believe this will be some kind of south Asian pack however after zookeepers it still could be a broader Asian pack. My top choices would be a pheasant ideally the Himalayan Monal, the blackbuck, some kind of waterfowl I don’t really mind which although if a broader Asia pack I hope to see the mandarin duck. A pelican would be an incredible final pick but another crane would be a simpler option that I would still be happy with.

Those elephants could also represent the second African species, so it's fun to speculate what else this could be other than Asia. A biome pack, maybe?

the whole thing screams india but the thing we think are macaques could just be baboons at weird angles the honey badger is also african and the elephant at a stretch could be the forest elephant so who knows.

I see no reason not to add the blackbuck its as easy as possible for them to add.

Something about purple just screams south asia like I saw the purple and the honey badger and my first thought was wolverine no we already have that then india pack with honey badger before even seeing the image up close to notice the macaque and elephants.

I don't know, I just think it's very easy to read too much in to these teaser artworks. It could just be "generic elephant design" for mood setting. Maybe there's some elephant-themed scenery or something, rather than an actual new animal.

Key art is usually pretty transparent about its contents. I don't see why this time it'd have some weird deception to make the contents looks less appealing than they actually are
