It's always been on my list, but the more I think the higher it rises. Definitely my most wanted animal from this pack. The only issue is, genetically, it's just a population of the exact same subspecies (Panthera leo leo) as the West African Lion (those damn scientists, accurately classifying animals!). There is no precedent currently in game for this, all species have a different scientific name. So either they break that precedent and have 2 with the same name (which I'm fine with) or, even better, they add the Asiatic Lion as P. leo leo and change the West African Lion to Southern African Lion, Panthera leo melanochaita (highly doubt they'd do that honestly).
The other alternative is to stick their fingers in their ears and ignore the reclassification of the Asiatic Lion and just call it by its old name, Panthera leo persica (which was changed after research in 2017, before the game was even released - it's probably the silliest solution).
Regardless, I hope it's in the game, but if it is, no matter how they do it, an extremely mild controversy will happen
There are quite a few times when Frontier did something near an expected theme but not the theme itself.
- Desert -> arid
- Mountains -> Zookeeper
- Islands -> Oceania
Also we shouldn’t forget that India Pakistan relations are currently at crisis point. I have no idea how many customers Frontier have in Pakistan but I can’t see a DLC with India in the name doing well there.
For that reason, if it is a Subcontinent pack, I think South Asia is a reasonable guess for the name.
It can be everything at this point, but I would rule out things like a tundra or taiga pack haha

I'm fine with Asiatic Lion, as long as there isn't another Elephant in the new pack...
IF there is BOTH Sri Lankan Elephant and Asiatic Lion in this pack, IMO it would be way worse than Americas... I mean, I liked Americas (my personal favorite pack) but a ton of people didn't because of all the clones. Elephant and Lion in the SAME PACK is about as "clones" as it gets...

Sadly, since this pack is only coming a couple of months after the Americas pack, I'm expecting the roster to be rather clone heavy to save a little time and money.
The Bulbous dome is also a trait only found in Asian elephants, which can be seen in at least one of the silhouettes.
Frontier works on multiple packs in advance, they don't just make one pack and only then start working on the next pack; so the time between these two packs shouldn't have an impact. They were most likely already working on this pack since the start of the year.
The situation is complicated and there is nothing we can do except pray for peace (we really need peace all over the world).
HOWEVER, Planet Zoo is a non-political game.
Like any other event or game, the only thing that makes it political is us, the players.
Why do I say that? Because animals live on Earth and know no borders, only nature. It's us humans who have divided the land to create countries.
Yes but no... because they showed us key art that screams "Indian theme".
They could have just shown us the honey badger and said that it's the first animal we're showing for the next DLC that we're currently working on, slowly building the hype around it. We could have said, 'Okay, it could be a savannah pack or an Asia pack or whatever.'
But in the live stream, we saw three species (possibly three new species), plus the landscape, colour and construction, which brought us to India
If they name it Asia, I'm expecting to see animals from all around Asia and biomes.
Just to name a few : Onager, tanuki, yak, kamchatka brown bear, sumatra tiger, sumatra orang-outan, celebes crested macaque, Banteng, Yellow throated marten, Visayan warty pig, Jackal, Bengal monitor, wolf, indian pangolin, asian grey mangoose... but a lot of them are clone or "low value for the game" in my eyes
I wonder how the reveal week is going to go
Last time they did their animal of the days except for flamingo and sheep. While they showed flamingo in a video, no spotlight for the sheep. I remember when it used to be all 8 animals and a dev diary and I liked that formula.
Earliest we can hear anything is tomorrow but I wouldn’t count on it as it seems there’s a 2 week tradition that frontier is going with now.

this makes way more sense no way they name is india they never go for country names besides Asia pack will go well with Americas pack, in americas you also had the vibe of a desert and the art was screaming mexico even if its a asiatic elephant its for sure not the indian one
