And so Starfield has something different for everyone. I almost completely only load up the game for doing ship builds with an ever increasing number of mods enhancing that particular aspect of the game.
If you simply enjoy
doing that stuff, that's great.
The thing that's starting to become apparent to me, though, is how little of the game's crafting/building/trading mechanics are actually
necessary.
In Skyrim/Fallout trading, at the very least, was crucial.
There was always
something that you wanted/needed so it was always important to haul sacks of junk out of every dungeon so you could take it to a trader, sell it and then buy something you wanted.
In Starfield, it simply doesn't seem to
matter.
The Starborn suit and ship are "good enough" that I've never bothered trying to look for anything better and by the time I've encountered a dozen NPCs I've got half a dozen decent weapons that I can use until they're out of ammo' and just toss them.
And then there's the perks.
Honestly, I can't really provide examples, here, because it's that long since I picked a perk that I can't remember what they are.
Again, in Skyrim/Fallout you
needed different skills/perks in order to play the game the way you wanted to.
In Starfield, everything seems to be a case of "wander around until something/somebody attacks and then keep shooting until you're the only thing left alive"
The perks/skills can make that
easier but, if it's already do-able, you don't actually
need the perks at all.
