New ships: 2025

Well an eagle or sidey is ok. Sliding scale ⚖️
But having a full on fighter on, or piggybacked onto a vulnerable ship that's fully freighted is a fab way to give said freighter a fighting chance against murderboats. And a whole new angle on powerplay shenanigans.
If an eagle or sidey why not a fdl.?
Because it is bigger.

How about it being the only ship with size 4 turreted weapons that aren’t nerfed because it is big enough that the turrets can be properly built.

Turrets are 70% down. And yeah id be up for 100% dps from them but isn't gonner happen.
Now bolting on a fdl that can happen hehe

I support @GraXXoR 's idea to get a landable 'fighter'. Pure exploration type without weapons but a landing gear, maybe a bio scanner and agile enough for a bit of hooning.
Would require a 2 vehicle SRV bay (one place for an SRV, the other for the fighter).

We still don't have a fighter for drilling asteroids and laying down missiles to blow up an asteroid.

It may not be a fighter device, but a specialized drilling device.

The thread being about ships, a 'drilling device' is a bit off topic, eh?

Speaking of ships: a specialised miner could be something which players want. This could be another large ship which is in sync with FDev's announcement that 'for the time being they won't release more medium size ships' (hope I got the gist of their FU-stream).
That means, there won't be a medium size passenger ship which I was hoping for. Combat ships, exploration ships, traders are all pretty much covered with new SCO ships, therefore a miner seems to be likely.

Not to be negative just curious. What features would you like on a large mining ship that you don't expect or want from the Panther Clipper. What is going to make this ship a miner over a cargo runner or combat cow.

Because we (except FDev) do not know the specs of the Panther, we cannot assume that it will be an ideal mining vessel.

That's a non answer. What features would make it a mining ship? We can paint it yellow and black if that's all you need but for the ship to suit the role I assume you have some desires.

It could be that the PC is lacking an ideal number of hardpoints and slots so that it isn't really suitable. There were some speculations in the PC thread that these large container-like structures of the PC could be specific cargo slots and cannot be repurposed. Unless the ship's specs haven't been announced by FDev, all we can do is speculating. Neither you or me know if a Panther will be a good, a mediocre or a bad mining ship.

Maybe ask CMDR Thrust from Bradford who may know?

Answer the question already please and stop dodging it. You suggested a mining ship. What would make a ship a mining ship. You can forget the other ships just focus on the one you suggested.

That...THAT's INSANE!..

Just allow two NPC SLF's bringing it inline with multicrew capabilities.
OR..one sidewinder/eagle.
The original Anaconda was supposed to be able to launch a sidewinder... And I think the Corvette was supposed to support two SLFs.

Why should I be dodging it? In my personal opinion a dedicated miner needs good maneuverability, very large cargo capacity and a strong power distributor. Equip it with good defenses and an SLF to ward off the odd pirate. Ideally, a combination of laser and core mining should be possible.
Design should also be industrial - T8 style would be nice but bigger.

What if Panther comes with 2 Class 1 Hardpoints facing forward?
Im still trying it!

So we need 6+ medium hardpoints and a small one plus hardpoints for self defense plus 2000 cargo plus Cutter like speed and a Type 9 cockpit view.
What could go wrong? :sneaky:
