Ranking the areas still requiring animals

I tried to be realistic and not go for too many new rigs
Genuinely there are so many rigs for PZ I’m pretty sure with the right animations we could make anything. Anyways I still think a big missing part of the South America roster is a tropical duck. So many zoos have them, they are great “decoration animals” and I genuinely think my tropical houses aren’t the same without them.

Whistling white daced duck covers both africa and south america

I have a claim to make. If we'd had moved just two clone animals from DLCs to the base game for South America (so we'd have 4 animals like North America started with), and removed on Caiman, we could have had a much more balanced roster.

  • Base Game:
    • Tapir
    • Galapagos tortoise
    • Greater Rhea (pulled back)
    • Capuchin (pulled back)
    • Peccary (added later)
  • South America:
    • Jaguar
    • Giant Anteater
    • Llama
    • Patagonian mara(new)
  • Aquatic:
    • Giant otter
    • Capybara (pulled back instead of dwarf Caiman)
  • Wetlands:
    • Spectacled Caiman
    • Asian water monitor (pulled back)
  • Grasslands:
    • Maned Wolf
    • Armadillo
  • Tropical:
    • Coati (new)
    • Sloth
  • Zookeeper:
    • Spectacled bear
  • Americas:
    • American flamingo
    • Bush dog
    • Ocelot
    • White faced saki
    • Golden lion tamarin (new)
How's this for a South America lineup?
To be honest i think having the two caimans is great and id really miss the other if we only had one.
The spectacled is my go to crocodilian as it imo the perfect size, big enough so its impressive but not so big as to where you need a whole house just for them.
But tiny crocodilians (dwarf caimans and croc) are also very common in zoo and are great for smaller or low budget zoo, or when you just dont have as much space.
Similar to how i think its justified to have both the jaguar and ocelot for south america

So imo both of them fill an important size niche for crocodilians. Especially since they are both the only tiny and mid sized crocodilian respectively

The question is if you'd have sacrificed one for a tamarin

How's this for a South America lineup?
I agree that the golden lion tamarin, mara, and coati would fix the most glaring of South America's gaps. This roster is a lot better than what we have. Still, I wish things had gone a few steps further.
  • Base Game/Deluxe:
    • Jaguar (moved up)
    • Giant Anteater (moved up)
    • Llama (moved up)
    • White Faced Capuchin (moved up)
    • American Flamingo (moved up)
    • Mountain Lion (moved up)
    • Red-Eyed Tree Frog (moved up)
    • (New) Blue Poison Frog
    • (New) Tufted Capuchin
    • South America Set (moved up, tweaked slightly, and renamed 'Jungle')
    • Also clearly missing from the base game but not from South America:
      • African Rhino, Red-Necked Wallaby, Emu, Moose, Fallow Deer/other European ungulate, HBB -> EBB, Barbary Macaque?
    • Rationale: It wouldn't make much difference if the base game were ~$10 more expensive, but the absence of some of these was super weird. I figured if we got two lemurs, a second easy macaque, and two capuchins wouldn't be a very big deal. I think most of the South American animals were likely ready close to launch anyway.
  • Arctic:
    • Dall Sheep -> Muskox
  • (New) South America Animal Pack: (delayed until after deep diving; maybe swap positions with SEA animal pack?)
    • Capybara (moved up)
    • Maned Wolf (moved up)
    • Dwarf Caiman (moved up)
    • Ocelot (moved up)
    • (New) Black Howler Monkey
    • (New) Golden Lion Tamarin
    • (New) White-Faced Whistling Duck
    • (New) Emerald Tree Boa
  • Australia Pack: Nearly perfect
  • Aquatic Pack:
    • (New) Great White Pelican
  • Southeast Asia: Good enough
  • Africa Pack:
    • Okapi (moved down) could take the place of the rhino and add a tropical African animal for a realistic change
    • Alternatively, albeit not realistic, keep okapi in the base game, and add the serval, dromedary, nile crocodile, and secretary bird for an awesome animal pack.
  • North America: Perhaps not quite as strong as before, but still very good
    • Bighorn Sheep (moved up)
    • (New) Black Bear
  • Europe: Excellent
  • Wetlands:
    • Mute Swan (moved up)
    • Maybe Spec Caiman -> Bush Dog? IDK which is better.
  • Conservation: Great as is
  • Twilight: Good Enough
  • Grasslands:
    • Rhea (moved up)
    • (New) Grey Crowned Crane
    • (New) Short-Beaked Echidna
  • Tropical: Great as is, with the new animals
  • Arid:
    • Dama Gazelle -> Baboon (moved up)
  • Oceania:
    • Quokka -> Tree Kangaroo
  • Eurasia:
    • (New) Mallard or Mandarin Duck
    • (New) Golden Pheasant
    • Saiga -> Reeve's Muntjac
    • Sloth Bear (saved for upcoming South Asia DLC?) -> GSNM?
  • Barnyard:
    • Sheep and/or Alpaca -> Turkey or Mallard or Rabbit
  • Zookeepers:
    • (New) Guereza
  • Americas: Make into a Scenery Pack with colonial, NW Coast, and Cabin build sets
    • Saki -> (New) Geoffroy's Spider Monkey
    • (New) South American Coati
    • Bush Dog -> Collared Peccary (moved down with (New) mara for anniversary?)
    • Coyote stays or NA deer for NA rep
    • Reshuffle exhibit animals to add a Chameleon elsewhere; I'd also sacrifice our scorpion for a cobra

Without a blackbuck - that's considered essential - India will stay yellow, right? That would be pretty sad...
Yup. I mean I can say an edge case where they introduce something like the Chital and Nilgai which does cover a similar enough niche to the Blackbuck so the community is satisfied with the Indian unfulate roster.

But being how e get one deer already claim doubt that's the case. Although doing a late game Asia pack without the blackbuck would be very similar to a late game Americas pack with no coati, so I can see that hapening. Only question is what is the Bush Dog equivalent for an Asian pack without a blackbuck?
