New ship: Panther Clipper

For some of us it was actually a lot earlier than that. People were asking in Gama, and Beta which was over 11 years ago.
Still Good Grief how pathetic of you.
I’ve been following Elite Dangerous since before the Kickstarter (and I’m a first-day backer, #2764) and while the PC was requested earlier, David Braben’s comment was the earliest “promise” for the Panther Clipper that I could remember.

My previous comment was meant light-heartedly, in the spirit of “it has been a long time, hasn’t it?”

Not long to wait now 😁👍

Hi :)

Facebook post: "Join us on Wednesday 25 June at 6pm BST, where Zac and Curtis will be taking a special look at the Panther Clipper MKII www.twitch.tv/frontier "

Ah!...and thanks for posting up the link Cosmo (y). Curtis is one of the lead designers for Frontier who was commenting about Elite in one of the previous livestreams as I remember , I wonder who'll be taking the place of Arf* so to speak in the livestreams from now on...just curious.

(I've just searched on the Forum under 'news & bulleting's' just now but I couldn't see any reference or info concerning this weeks livestream on Wednesday....on the Forum... though I suppose it's still quite early for that being's it's only Monday morning at the moment, ;)).

Anyway, looking forward to hopefully good news and more in depth discussions of the Panther Clipper!

* Must admit, I'll miss Arf presenting the Elite Livestreams. 😓

Jack :)

Hi :)

They haven't posted about the livestreams on this forum for ages and I have no expectation of that changing.

;) It's been mentioned by quite a few other posters too, including me I think, It just seems 'unproductive' to me personally as far as information distribution. Though just to reiterate again...not all players of Elite Dangerous subscribe to any or all of the current social media platforms. It would be 'nice' if Frontier displayed any reasonably important information here in the News & Bulletins Forum just prior to the livestream event, in that same week, (even just as a reminder).
I personally regard the Livestream (Frontier Unlocked) as a reasonably important information outlet concerning all Frontiers games. A heading of 'Frontier Unlocked' or Frontier Unlocked News would be a suitable title maybe, and placed within the other main headings in the News and Bulleting headers perhaps? :)

For me (again personally) I consider this specific forum is where I logically 'go to' for any current information regarding Elite Dangerous, most of what I consider important about the game is usually displayed here, and usually quite informative by Frontier, especially when other players contribute their general and sometimes in depth knowledge of this specific game, and related but also indirect observations too. It's helpful.

I just feel Frontier aren't utilising some key (important) elements here to the full sometimes, namely their own in house Forums...weird! :)
Edit...I hope this is regarded as constructive and useful feedback.

Jack :)

Wasn’t the lady alongside Arf on the last Unlocked his upcoming replacement?

The number of viewers would drop sharply after the ED segment, otherwise.
You know, I really hate that smugness of the Twitch Elite audience. As if they are exclusively entitled to the attention of Frontier when they do their monthly stream. Doesn't help that quite a portion of the ED viewers just doesn't know how to behave.

Also, at least in some streams in the past, I noticed a sharp drop in viewership when the ED segment begins. Feels like the ED viewers take themselves and their game way too seriously.

I don't care if it seems like smugness to you. And it's my impression that the ED segment has consistently been left at the end of the stream. If all things were equal, we'd get first place even once.

I simply don't care for smiling animals and silly walking humanoids in theme parks. I'm not 13 anymore.

Pro tip: Just tune in half an hour later.
My optimism, after the recent new content (ships, colonization), overcame my cynicism and I started watching it again instead of waiting for the following day and youtube. I'm still waiting for the day we'll get first rate position except of third or fourth. I rarely repeat my mistakes.

Are we all ready to be underwhelmed as they proudly announce that the new ship will be able to carry up to one thousand tonnes of cargo?
I'm hoping their financial interests will outweigh the input from the Chicken Little's who think hauling a few tons will somehow ruin the entire game. It will just become normal.
The Mandalay didn't "ruin" exploration.
The Python MKII didn't "ruin" medium combat
The Panther Clipper won't ruin hauling.

Well, I wasn't sure, but I'm assuming (yeah I know one mustn't always assume! 🙃) it's the lady whose name is Sam I think (I'm not sure of her Christian name?). :)

I must admit, I don't usually watch the whole livestream, just the segment about Elite...🤔...though I have on occasion watched the full livestream, I'm sometimes interested in Planet Zoo, mainly thinking of my grandchildren here and whether to buy it for them. At this present moment in time they're well ensconced into Minecraft with a smattering of Dinosaur stuff.🤷‍♂️... My grandaughter might be interested in Planet Zoo though once she's a year older or so. :) Children these days seem to me to have short attention spans, depending on age of course! ...(so do more senior folk in the 70's range come to think of it......yes, especially when trucking stuff for Elite's Colonisation! (I've 'only' about 6000t of steel & Titanium to go for my present build....nearly there...🤗 ...🥱).

I've no problem with the Livestream format though, I fully understand that it's covering all the present popular games by Frontier, which is logical to me.

As for This particular livestream on Wednesday, obviously any of the Panther information is my main focus of interest, though I'm also wondering if there's any informational clues to the Autumn feature and new ship, especially what Frontier think the new ship will be most likely used for by the players. :sneaky:

The Panther Clipper won't ruin hauling.
It might ruin my accumulated ARX account though, when it's released!...🤣

Jack :)

LOL yup!!! 1,500-2,000 tons is my "will buy with ARX" sweet spot.
