Completing Zoo Tycoon 2: How far we've come?

Sea turtles do require water to eat, granted, though they're definitely far more terrestrial than epaulette shark. Heck, they literally require land to breed and sunbathe. Conversely, epaulette sharks never need to leave the water if conditions remain satisfactory.

Revised list

Add nilgai, tanuki, and lion-tailed macaque (I'll have icons on the list maker soon enough)

Three tiers:
Needed:
Secretary Bird
American Black Bear
Nile Crocodile

Wanted:
Musk Ox
Masai Giraffe (I know it's not a big want for the community but it is for me)

Would be nice to have:
Walrus (not a personal want but it's a big community want)
Sea Otter (though I kind of put it in with marine animals since it's mostly marine, but hey we have other otters and caimans as well)
Barbary Ape (unique ape range)

Everything else is just not necessary, wanted or even would be nice to have IMO.

My opinions on the species level entries

essential :
american black bear
walrus
sea otter
gelada
ethiopian wolf
nile crocodile
musk ox

not essential:
barbary macaque
Japanese serow
northern elephant seal
olive baboon
gerenuk
southern rockhopper penguin
secretary bird

Nice but not needed:
emperor penguin
javan rhino
black crested gibbon
masai giraffe
iberian lynx

waste:
eastern gorilla

what are peoples opinions on the subspecies in zoo tycoon 2
  • giant sable antelope
  • grants zebra
  • eastern wolf (could be species)
  • florida panther (a ecotype of a new subspecies)
  • south african ostrich
  • eastern moose
  • south african meerkat
  • nigerian pygmy hippo (could be its own species and is also extinct)
  • gemsbok (type species which is basically what we have)
  • eastern thomsons gazelle
  • western santa cruz tortoise (could be species)
  • barren ground caribou
  • himalayan red panda (could be own species)

also zoo tycoon 1 only has one subspecies the mexican gray wolf not ingame.

Zoo Tycoon (Xbox)? Naw, more like Zookeeper Tycoon.

But, the game itself isn't bad as long as you don't compare it to the original games. I'd say it's more comparable to World of Zoo
I found the game alright though it has not aged well at all especially the models which never held up to much scrutiny such as both alpacas breeds having the exact same model.

I remember the giant sable antelope, Florida panther, and gemsbok, but not the rest. The game always just referred to them as the gray wolf, ostrich, moose, meerkat, red panda, etc.

the game has full taxonomic classification for them, the moose is definitely accurate given the range map ingame only shows north america and if you use radical remake a staple of modern zt2 the barren ground caribou is renamed to fit its taxonomy.
