DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Honestly, if it is the last pack, so be it. We are in a very good spot to end and I'd rather have them focus on giving us a really good base game foundation for PZ2 than wasting time with more clones and free updates that are empty.
As I said, I love their love for detail with PC2 and the way they showed they heared the community loud and clear with most things. I doubt we would face the same release desaster as Planet Coaster Fans have.

So yeah... time to take a breather, enjoy what we have and after a good amount of "shiny new toy" break we can get excited for PZ2. I'm good. Really. Only wish left for me that is pressing is having the donkey sounds corrected.

Yes time to finally install mods. In a way still get my coati and bunch of birds (thanks our lord great cake mods). Some animals still have no mods at all (pheasants) or don't have a mod version that i like (mara) but I'm confident we'll get those as well. Modders do great impressive things.

And I was kind of expecting this to be the final one so I'm not upset, just sad of the obvious omissions in the roster that they never listened to and instead we're replaced by oddball choices.

But yeah, let the PZ2 wishlists and speculation begin! That will be fun too!

And now with a full roster this is deffinetly the best zoo game ever in that aspect.

I like how in the span of probably an hour quite a few people have turned from:
  • You know this pack isn't soo bad after all :D
To
  • Worst dlc ever! What a waste of a last pack, where's my birbs!!
I feel like, if this is truly the last pack, it really does encapsulate the Planet Zoo mentality at its fullest.
We got:
• a unique but well-known animal as the headliner
• hoofstock making up half of the remaining roster
• a dog
• one oddball clone that probably 3 people in total asked for and 90% of people actively didn't want
• no birds or reptiles

...and to be honest, I wouldn't want it any other way. This is what Planet Zoo has always been to me.
This isn't a bad ending. In fact, it's possibly the best pack of the 2024/25 wave.

Ring necked, golden, swinhoes and silver were comissioned some time ago, so they should start to trickle onto nexus in the near ish future.
And there is already the peacock pheasant, which looks amazing
Oh good to know. No argus or Reeve's mentioned there unfortunally but once those come out i guess other pheasants will follow.

The Congo peafowl and the peacock pheasant are Indeed fantastic. Can't remember if there is an Himalayan monal mod right now.

There used to be, back on version 1.10 but updates broke those mods quite some time ago. Hopefully a himalyan monal returns at some point.

At the very least, we ended on a pack that was pretty perfect even regardless of the elephant (and even that seems to be somewhat of a favourite since a lot of general players enjoy it). Asia is now fulfilled with its missing ungulates, we got another monkey, and we got probably 2 of the best remaining carnivores we could’ve got.
Better than the previous few packs? For sure.
Perfect? Eh, not really. Atleast for me

I kinda agree with Charlie that given this stage of the game, this is about as good a DLC as possible. We got a bunch of highly requested animals on the Forum that aren't too popular outside of here(Blackbuck, Nilgai, PDD, Macaque). We got a cute Raccoon Dog and Ratel which have broad appeal. Then we got a forced "Big Ticket" animal in the Elephant.

Of course we can lament the lack of bird or nitpick based on our likes(I would have preferred Asiatic Lion over Elephant), but this DLC did a very good job at appealing to different groups of the player base.

Animals, yes, even despite the elephant it was a great pack. But the scenery is deeply underwhelming for me and underlines my main critique of the game: too much theme park and not enough zoo.
Good point. I love the idea of 7 animals with small scenery set, but the decor we have received so far are pretty much useless for me.
