Actually never mind, just saw FDev posted some specs. So maybe, 100t difference.

IIRC, it was reeeaaaalllly marginal, squeezing a C5 prismatic shield onto a Cutter.
Will it cope with 100t of extra mass?

True story:- I did actually roll mod's for a 5A prismatic shield for a Cutter, ran it for a while but then decided I wanted a bigger shield more than I needed an extra 32t of cargo capacity so I upgraded to a 6A prismatic and sold the 5A. 😖
.... and then FDev introduced Guardian Shield Boosters.

Objectively, I suspect I would have used-up at least 32t of cargo capacity fitting GSBs with the 5A shield so the 6A wasn't a terrible decision but selling the 5A was a dumb move.

Yeah I've accidently sold fully engineered items before. Old Power Play stuff at that.

Wonder if we'll ever get the option to get these shields again either as CG rewards or for getting allied with a faction like for other items.
 
My guess: To avoid power creep when it comes to optional slots.

Imagine being able to equip a whopping four class-8 modules of any kind in one single ship.
I understand you. Can you give an example of what kind of modules these will be?
and also, we have combat slots, why can't we make cargo slots?
 
Just realised something after re-watching the FDev livestream....

I was planning a laser-mining build with 2x C8 cargo racks and then Collectors in the C7 & C6 slots.
I'm guessing this won't be possible if ONE of the C7 & C8 slots are "storage only" slots?

I guess it won't make a huge amount of difference to the build really because I should be able to use the C7/C8+ slots for cargo and then bung a 7A Collector in the normal C8 slot.

Kind of a messy way of doing it though. :cautious:
 
By the way, if banks don't have a quick promotion, it's very easy to knock them down with rails.
Err, why've you triple posted talking about things both obvious (yeah, reverb cascade torps exist) and not relevant (no, the existence of Shield Cell counters doesn't mean having four Class 8 internals isn't significant)?

I'm guessing this won't be possible if ONE of the C7 & C8 slots are "storage only" slots?

As an aside I kinda' wish the Panther had another 1 or a 3. It's generous on the larger sizes but those smaller utility-type internal slots are a bit limited. (I may just be having issues because I'm trying to plan out an omni-Panther that does way too many things.)

The Cutter can hold 8 torpedoes in 2 slots of the 3rd class. This is enough.

Honestly, I've just never really bothered with the multi-function limpet controllers because I've always been frustrated by the difference between what I expect them to do and what they're actually capable of.
I'll use one to launch Prospectors and then realise I can't actually launch any Collectors from it until the Prospectors expire, for example.

I recently overhauled my DC-mining Krait to use multi-function controllers, though, and it all went pretty well.
 
The 2 rear hardpoints i have a concern about they look like they dont have clearance and will hit the back off the cockpit. Fdev should take a look at hardpoint placements cause i have a funny feeling them 2 rear ones can only take turrets only because of clearance.

Yeah, they haven't said if the special slot is cargo only or will allow anything but can accommodate the larger bin...

Hard point placement looks like it will be a problem for mining...
