Alec's guide to "interesting" colonisation systems and stations.

Rita Fays General Store in Copper and Grey...

I have built most all of my planetary installations on a cliff, or in a scenic location.

Hi, Alec. On the most recent episode of Lave Radio you mentioned that you were interested in hearing about stations with different livery, and I recalled Aberdeen, a quad noob-hammer Coriolis in Col 285 Sector JE-E b13-0. It's the closest place to pick up tritium when I'm loading up colonistion commodities at 34 Omicron Cephei. As well as being named after my home city, Aberdeen is memorably decked out in, I'm going to say chrome and copper? Very steampunk.

Sounds nice! Hoping to have a bit of time next week to go and visit all these new ones.

That's Synuefe GK-C d14-119 right?
Yes, it's Rita Fays General Store located in Synuefe GK-C d14-119.
Where's that? I don't see an obvious candidate in the list for that system on Inara.
That's a bar I built in my first system, Col 285 Sector ER-J b23-7, so no link likely, it was my second ever build after Piper's Port O' Call and it's out near the last planet.

I will build an Outpost there to take advantage of the view.

I was going to name the bar but naming things that I can't land or get missions for will get expensive really quick.

Piper's Port O'Call is an industrial outpost done in the blue and silver paint. Interestingly, I was able to use hyphens in that name, but can't seem to do that any where's else...

Sorry I missed this earlier. I'm not sure about including too much game/immersion breaking stuff. You can actually get under the city at A.E.B City (already on the list) and in fact, I forget exactly where, but there's an inside wall on all large circular planetary ports (somewhere between the large and medium pads iirc) that has no hit box so you can actually just fly straight through it. Thanks for posting tho', I'll go and check yours out at some point (bit swamped with race stuff right now).
To be honest I was pretty bummed out when I realized the models are completely detatched from the planet surface. So far craterside constructions elevate the terrain enough so that it's more than capable of basing the station on top of it. Shame it does not apply to Zeus tier stuff, because they look absolutely amazing even from space, as they get an obscenely large platform. It is what it is, though. :)

As you might guess from the name, the entire system is being built up as a memorial to a friend. Some of you may recognize the name from other communities too, he was fairly well known in at least one. Every single station built is renamed to reflect a member of his family, a close friend, a character he wrote, or a location in one of the stories he wrote. At least the ones that aren't copyrighted and likely to get me in trouble if I used their names.

One of the surface stations even has one of the largest supplies of CMM composites. (Used to be the largest supply within 500ly but colonization marches on~)

Only a few slots remain to fill, but all of them, names included, are planned out already. Taking a break till the Panther Clipper comes out.~

Also of note is that every station (with one exception that will soon be remedied) has an ARX skin applied. I'll get a list soon but am not in game atm.

While not the most interesting in terms of features in the system itself, it is nonetheless important to feature for the mere achievement.

Synuefe EN-H d11-95

This was the first system to be colonized after the completion of the Guardian Highway bridge, a bridge of 37 outposts from Exphiay all the way to Synuefe EN-H d11-96.
The bridge has been a collaborative effort between Canonn, the Guardian Science Corps, and independent commanders.

Synuefe EN-H d11-96 is the only human controlled system with a Guardian structure. (As systems with ruins and structures cannot be colonized).
And this system is now the center of host of colonies in the area, trying to make the wayward outpost into the center of a new Human settlement.

The efforts in the surrounding area are spearheaded by the Xeno-Tech Industries who seeks to study the Guardian ruins to further the development of technology and hybrid ships.

Just wanted to showcase a surface build by Eratic Spawn on "Col 285 Sector LE-G c11-33 5 a" named "Gustard Foundry". The way it's ended up on a flattened plateau next to an Everest like peak with a massive crater in the background just really caught my eye as being quite special and incredibly photogenic.

I've seen this in a couple of other systems, maybe it's something to do with the procedural generation thing, I dunno

Anyway, awesome thread 🤟

Oh, for unusual liveries, here's my quad-trussed Coriolis with the Clinical Yellow paintjob and the Tourism interior, above a tidal locked ELW around an M red dwarf star, Col 359 Sector RW-Z b15-6:

I rather liked that the interior's reds match the Corsair paintjob's colour, too. I would like a white-red paintjob for the station though.

Most systems around the Veil West Nebula have been colonized, so there are literally dozens of stations that could be chosen to display them against the nebula in the background, so I tried the most dramatic-looking shot I could find.

Finally got some time to start visiting some more of these places today, starting with ...

HR 5332

This star system contains 2 triple systems, each with its own very tight binary. Flashbang:

The B-A binary is contained within the first F-(B-A) triple system, the other triple being B-(G-M). The system was jokingly dubbed "Trillionaire Corona" since you can observe all 3 stars from the stations orbiting them, and after the CMDR behind it. Currently the first triple is orbited by 5 stations.

The G-M binary on the other hand is so tight, the class M companion passes through the (stationary) construction site orbiting the class G star, rendering it perpetually inaccessible. The neighbouring construction site which I placed just today seems to be in good working order.

The issue hasn't been fixed since the ticket was submitted, so I'm not holding my breath. I did my best to convince support to preserve the orbit, even said "please" and pulled the whataboutism trick by bringing up Mitterand Hollow. In all honesty, it would be nice for once if this system could hold onto its charm and let CMDRs dock and stay aboard the station as it drifts through the star's inferno.

There are also some ringed gas giants in the system, including this wine purple one, whose outpost was named accordingly.

WOW! What an incredible system, well worth a visit.

I am tempted to pull out that Spongebob GIF...*

... as Veil West has been mentioned I found a system of potential interest out there, which is still relatively close (and somehow hadn't been taken yet), but it may take me some time to build it out - or the bodies of interest at least - so it'll be a while before I return to this thread with it.

*The orbital stabilizers of those Coriolis stations have got to be working overtime to keep them from getting flung around like a toy. Or maybe not, I don't know that much about orbital mechanics/physics - it's just a funny thought.
