Ships Next Ships?

- A large fighter (capable enough to keep up with the medium fighters, because there is no large ship that is; with many military only slots, so that it is not multirole-capable)

and/or

- A large multirole (because we have no SCO-optimized large multirole; cargo less than Cutter; 65-68 LYs unladen)

and/or

- A very, very fast small ship (for fun only, SCO-optimized, optimized for atmospheric flight).

A large explorer, not a multi-role like the Anaconda.

Imperial Explorer... and await the lawsuits from Paramount Pictures.

A new medium-sized luxury passenger ship by Saud Kruger (because they don't yet have a single medium-sized ship), having the advantages of lots of passenger cabin space and speed/nimbleness.

Would be best if paired with new meaningful passenger-related missions (eg. for PP2).

A dedicated pirate ship, with dedicated slots for:

- smuggling cargo: it's like a hidden/shielded cargo, space that cannot be scanned by authority vessels

- grappling hooks: each one slow down the target ship by a certain amout; if the difference in size is big enough, the target ship will stop completely

- super-cruise inhibitor: yes I know that missiles exist, but this module would be like a bubble, as long as it's active, no ship can enter supercruise, including the ship that activated it

- drive breaker limpet controller: like a hatch breaker. There's no reason pirates wouldn't want to develop a specialised limpet that targets drives (we have limpets for everything after all)

Well, you asked :p

Like the drive breaker limpet idea!
Instead of grappling hooks, which are very mad max esc, maybe a tractor beam.

I’ve said it before but … Constrictor (MkII?) military prototype from the original Elite.

Either medium of large (don’t remember how big it was “back in the day” but I’m sure FDev can be flexible) but should be agile and well armed. Probably made by Core Dynamics and I don’t care if it makes every FAS/FDS/FGS obsolete … I love those military style ships but they’re just being outclassed by newer stuff that isn’t even dedicated to combat.

And for the love of Jameson a central pilots seat!

Hi All :)

So we possibly have 2 more ships this year if all goes to plan, what are we missing? what's next?

O7

🤔...There's still several ships from the FE2 & FFE era that given some graphic upgrading could be interesting, especially if given some unique modules tied to some of those ships. There's the Imperial Explorer pointed out by Agony_Aunt (y)...plus the feline based names like Puma or Tiger (trader in those games) and Lion, and switching back to snake based names the Boa. So I'd like to see those ships back in the game, but as I've said I'd rather they had unique roles within the game and unique modules.
Something like this.....

Hi :)

The Tiger (Trader) was originally a medium ship if I remember, so given an upgrade in design and some dedicated 'pirate' scheme paintjobs and kits could possibly be used in this role maybe. (Tiger stripes would be a snazzy paint scheme).

Perhaps the Puma (As I keep on plugging this idea / concept ) could at last be a dedicated surface mining vessel, complete with that MB5 auto mining module I keep harping on about!...(Well you've gotta keep on trying eh?) so in this sense a fully dedicated mining vessel, a really focused design with ample (if not more) slots for mining tools. Perhaps some new mining 'tools' and mineable metals / minerals too. Have one of those new 'converters' not just at some stations but a ship based module doing the same sort of thing?

As for others....🤷‍♂️...I think some of us can think of many novel new ways new ships could be designed and used for new stuff in the game.:)

Jack :)
