Just want to add my thanks to the Frontier Team and congratulate them on this wonderful game. I've been very pleased to support the development of this game and look forward to spending many more hours in the game and many more dollars in the store :D

Has there been a patch released overnight? I'm on terrible internet and left it downloading 1.0 last night. It nearly got to the end by this morning but had stopped. Re-starting the launcher has the download starting from the beginning again. Argh. My tiny download limit is disappearing for nothing!

Currently on 1.01, although tomorrow it could be 1.02

I thought as much. If I do manage to download the whole game before getting cut off again, are further patches incremental or do they require a complete re-download of the entire game. I know patches were incremental in the beta etc, so I'm hoping thats the case here. It does suck though. I bought into this when it was touted as having offline-single player, only to see that change. I've not demanded a refund because we do have internet access, but 15gb per month at about 100 KB/s is all we can get!

Thanks for your reply :)

when the patch download starts, it looks like it would be a lot, but the progress bar speeds up at some point.
it's far less than the full game :)

first post btw.. hi everyone. bought it yesterday and it's gorgeous.

Several different play sessions over last couple of days with no issues whatsoever. So great job Frontier on stability (for me anyway).

Congratulations on release 1.0. Now the really hard work begins!

I think my problem is that they patched it whilst I was still downloading v1.0. Being that the files weren't completely on my PC yet, it's decided to start again. Man, I miss the days of games supplied on DVD. Everyone assumes that we all have access to super-fast internet these days. Sadly, some of us cannot have such nice things!

Not me. I don't miss downloading once a quarter, if your lucky, patches to fix borked code. Playing a game for months on end with CTDs and obvious bugs, hoping and praying the developer will patch. Sometimes they did, but more often than not they moved on to another title and your stuck with a crappy game. Nope, Ill take the launcher and d/l of frequent patches any day.

download was swift and smooth....

but i cannot get acces on the server.... black screen on loading...
at the log i see that the server is not accepting my packets...
(GetPortMapping(53080) failed with code 714 (NoSuchEntryInArray))

plse advice

Hello everyone,

trying to download the game since 2 day's (just maxiumum 400 kb/s). It's often standing completly still. Then some files are loading and again it stands still. Hope it doesn't start from the beginning.

See you ingame :)

Thats because you are able to. As I stated - we don't have any access to good internet where we live, making downloading a whole game almost impossible. Smaller patches? Yes, I can deal with that, but this issue I've encountered really has me thinking I can't be bothered trying. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I really do feel stung by FD's last-minute decision to make it online only. If that was announced earlier, I wouldn't have forked over wads of cash to join the beta etc... The only reason I went for this title was the promise of single-player, offline mode. People like myself are the ones who got ripped off a little bit right there.

why not go to somewhere with better internet and doing it there initially?

It would be nice if there was some info on the patch size, and on the downloader a percentage/Gb/Mb bar of how much more to go :)

Have to agree totally with this; seamless rollout and not too many bugs seen. Great fun! :)
Agree with that. I didn't partake in the alpha, beta, and gamma releases, but pre-ordered the Mercenary edition. I downloaded the combat demo first, and that worked fine, followed up with the game proper two days ago. Everything went well, and I have been playing the solo version since then. I'm still finding my way around the game, and I guess it will be some time before I would consider myself competent [not the Elite grading - Ed :D] to play the game.

Contrast this with the X-Rebirth launch a year ago, which was a total disaster , and I think trashed the reputation of Egosoft somewhat. However, to their credit, a year on and three major releases later, the last just a few days before the ED launch, the game is now what it should have been at launch. I think FD's strategy of allowing alpha, beta, and gamma releases was an excellent idea, which allowed a lot of the bugs to be ironed out, and players to input new ideas before the product launch proper. All in all, good job FD.

Congrats and Thank you!!

Thank you very much FD, you have done something that really makes many people dream, you have gifted us with thousends and thousends of hours in space. This is really special, i can´t say much more, don´t find the words, only congratulations for such achievement and... THANXXX!!

See you all in space, Commanders ;)

Loved the Beta testing phase. Find the release awesome.

I loved partaking in the beta testing phase, giving the dev's an heads up on what the game does at any given time. Especially about the bugs that popped up every once and a while. :p
I have to say, hail to the dev's, for pushing so much updates towards us in so little time. That was awesome guys.

Now playing the 1.01 version of the release and boy o boy does it deliver. No glitches, no CTD's, no major bugs to speak of. Download went swiftly (fiber connection) and install was flawless.
So, after lots of people ranting about all kinds of stuff that was wrong in there minds and they where thinking they could do it better... Well, look at this product, FD said "it will be finished", and it is.

Heads of to FD and there developers. Now enjoy a well earned holiday and I wish all of you from FD a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

That goes for the whole community of course. Happy Holidays Y'all...
