Patch Notes Update Elite: Dangerous 1.00 is out now

a quick question if I may... is it possible to remove the version number down in the bottom left of the screen, it wasn't an issue during Alpha/Beta/Gamma - but I don't really want it there now we're at release... could be just displayed on the main menu screens?

To everyone at Frontier, thank you.. you have made this 43 year old man a very happy person indeed.

Elite on BBC B's was my childhood and it followed me as I grew Up. I've played every Elite that there was, and this is the best.

This year has been a terrible one for me from a personal point of view, my eldest daughter died in March this year after committing suicide. I've not smiled very much since.. today I am beaming from ear to ear.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Reallly sad and sorry to hear about your loss. I actually didn't read it the first time as I was so psycked about the release and didn't knew what to write and just saw your first two lines witch pretty much summed up how I feel about the game.

Congratulations to David and the team! I've been wanting to play this game since about 2005 and i'm pleased to say I'm just as hooked as I was in 1996 when I played Frontier Elite 2 for the first time!
 
The only thing I have noticed not perfect thus far is the random disappearance of docking pads when you are heading toward them.

Excellent job all round, it's amazing.

I experience this as well and already have a ticket submitted. I am sure it will be taken care of soon.
You can still dock on the pad even if the indicator has vanished.

I have not seen a post about the 1.01 patch notes for today? My client updated and was wondering
what was fixed. Anyone got a link?
 
• Removed "Elite: Dangerous 1.0.0.0" version text
• Fix one cause of disconnections during hyperspace when server load is high
• Fix a system map crash related to data associates with specific systems
• Fix some debug strings being shown in slave-related mission descriptions
• Fix some ambiguous galaxy data in a small number of regions
• Fix two different very rare networking crashes
• Diagnostics to help track down one cause of disconnections following server island migration
• Diagnostics to help understand some graphics memory allocation failures
• Diagnostics to help track down systems with possibly inconsistent minor faction data
• Diagnostics to help understand if some bounties aren't being awarded

+1 to this. Just started the launcher and saw the upgrade so I checked this sub-forum - no mention.

Quite a quick upgrade and I see the version number has gone in-game, any changes other than cosmetic ones?
 
last night i finally got into the game properly (merc with combat demo only before that).

i did some courier missions, made my first 10K and celebrated!

i pulled in a bit more then with the discovery scanner swapped for cargo bay i decided it was time to start playing the market. i invested all my cash (all 14K!) in expensive metals and then went splat against a station for the first time.

that put me into debt as i had an upgraded jump drive and of course the cargo bay. d'oh!

but i struck out again with my new loan, this time i made it up to 30K! so i decided to try the heavy metals again, found a station with a good price under galactic norm with a few systems near by they were importing. flew 30K's worth of heavy metals (are you spotting a pattern yet?) out to the next system. huh, that would sell at a loss, turns out they were exporting too. checked the map for another import, checked system map to confirm they were importing metals. same thing, they had more than enough. guess the market had been saturated as it was the best deal in the sub 3K/ton price range.

ok, lets try another type of economy, maybe they wont have a high demand but hey, i only have 6 tons to shift. so i get there and amble through the stations ring making sure the arm is miles away (not my first time doing that). then while i'm distracted trying to talk a friend through some stuff i drift into the ring its self and blow up. d'oh!

at least this time i didn't have to take a loan out, but i'm right back to near the starting credits again.

ok, once more into the breech! chance of pace though, by now i need to blow something up. after hopping in a few unknowns i find a cobra mk III with a half decent skill rating, not my cup of tea in a sidewinder with two lasers even a cat wouldn't be interested in, but he's under attack so i join in right and the end and steal the kill from 2 cops. ahh, that was a nice bounty! then i find a viper with no shields, don't fancy my chances against a good viper, but this pilot is clearly a novice, says so right there on my screen. cash both of those in at a station and rip the pewpew stick off and put some gattling guns on. sure the reload is annoying, but at least they can fire for longer at a time.

they work a treat, i manage to steal a kill from 3 cops next and the fight is a lot less like pulling teeth and a lot more like shredding my opponent.

i then mix some courier missions up with unknowns on the way to port and pimp my sidewinder up a bit with the profits (only low lvl upgrades mind). some more scrapping later and i'm feeling the itch to fly my eagle again (i took it for a spin round the station before i left the starting system).

so i head back home and throw some cash and 3 gattling guns onto my eagle then take it out on the hunt. didn't find any big bounties but it did feel a lot better to fight in.

so, 1 evening done (well, from 6Pm to 4AM!) and i probably pulled in enough cash to buy a new ship, but spread a lot of it all over the station walls. live and learn eh?

all in all it was a great evening, losses included. it's so very different from frontier or first encounters where you essentially never go backwards in cash due to save games. but this has been fun, it's scratched that itch elite 2&3 left on me and i've had a ton of fun flying in the new and improved galaxy.

great launch guys, now get my imperial courier out the door!

My experience was very positive as well - I finally made it to SOL. For the last week in gamma, I was 200 ly from the last time I saw another commander. It was a long trek, but I finally arrived last night and was immediately greeted by commander Wiggins.

I had lots of fun in game last night! I tried talking to some of the cmdr's I saw. All of them Ignored me but 1 as we were both sitting at a nav point. A criminal jumped in, as well as other authoritative ships, I didn't check my fire and accidentally hit one. I then became wanted. IT WAS GREAT!

Another few years and arthritis would have set in, making it impossible to play.

I played yeasterday about 6 hours straight till i went to bed! I have to say it was most smoothest lauch of any game i remember for a long time and belive me that i have seen over years many of them and also work in software/big server/Database environments so i can honestly say that job well done and thank you!

Great to be back in space!


Have to agree totally with this; seamless rollout and not too many bugs seen. Great fun! :)
 
Yeah! Got home and found my shiny new hotas and V1.0 waiting for me yesterday. Well done and thanks to the Frontier Team for all your hard work and a smooth launch and thank you to Archangel David Braben for making the dream a reality for us.

Would it be advantageous to going back to the newsletter format, so that information is sent to everyone, rather then hundreds of people filling up the forums with the same questions (not bothering to look to see if the question they are about to ask, has been asked already)

I am not saying keep the newsletter format forever, but while you are going though the transitions, and getting all the "promised" kickstarter items out, it may help you in the short term from repeating yourself , hourly... :S
