How do you spot griefer cmdr's?

Can we agree that it's "Griefer" and not "Greifer"?

Thanks. :D

Wait, we're not talking about...

A pirate would ask for the cargo.
A pirate would disable the engines as an "argument" to avoid a bounty for murder (cost money).
A possible griefer would have a 6000cr+ bounty on his head for murder.

Nonsense. If I stick a gun in your face you know what I want. If you act sketchy you'll proabably get killed. Where do people get the idea being a pirate is about maximizing profit and being a gentleman? I don't usually pirate, but when I do I kill anybody that doesn't get with it really quick, I'm not playing with comms, I'm not paying for limpets, I'm not giving you a chance, and it isn't greifing. It's just business really. It maximizes my chance of survival and as a pirate why would I care about anything else? I think it's cool that people roleplay, but it doesn't make you a greifer to look out for number one, and hell it's far more realistic.

Look for big ships interdicting sidewinders near the home sectors. You can see them zoom about the system quite often.

Someone who claims to be a pirate but only attacks PC ships
Any idiot can pirate/bounty hunt NPCs. Where's the fun in that? Some people actually like a challenge.

I'd like to mention that those who submitted their cargo got to keep half of it, simply because my cobra has only 20 cargo.
Those who tried to run...
Well try to overrun a cobra with A class thrusters. If I let everyone go then noone would give me their cargo would they?

Surely it'd be more fulfilling to take what you can fit into your hold, and do some target practice on the rest :D

IME they are the ones who open fire when you are not-wanted without opening any kind of comms.

I've run into them in extraction zones in beta, probably around the popular systems around the nav points too.

Not everyone who kills are greifers.
If a target runs away, then the pirate will open fire and potentially kill the target, hence the bounty gain.

It's possible, but there are a LOT of complaints here on the forum about so-called "greifers" and I'm saying that I have not come across one. And most of these claims of greifing are just pirates.

I've had a few players attack me and I don't have a cargo rack. Can't really call that piracy, but I think the forums have blown it out of proportion.

Piracy is still in a pretty poor state right now.

you only can find stories about them in this forum, they arent in the game actually.

There is a post in the Groups section that would tend to contradict you. A player from the hated griefers of Eve online is attempting to start a group aimed at doing exactly that. I would be interested in knowing how that sits with the rules governing player behavior.

Easiest way is to count each CMDR you find. When you get to no. 1,000, statistically you've got a griefer. Shoot him, then reset your count.

If you mean pirates, look for CMDRs with significant bounties. Probably at least 3k as less is likely unintentional misfires during bounty hunting.

He probably meant that the number of griefers is non-existent.

Only ever met one and it was during the betageddon when most people just went nuts due to incoming wipe.

I have an urge to kill griefers praying on poor noob sideys for sport. Any way to spot these losers?

Pretty much all I have seen is NPC giving 'grief' to new players going by the forum, I think there are 2 or 3 real player pirates, but then they are pirates! Arrrrr!

You know why are we griefers? Because hurr durr he shot me.
I warned one of my prey 3 times that I wont kill him if he hands over his cargo but still goes for the FSD.
Why should I let him go? I even had a friendly barter with one of them willing to give up 15 brandy before he left.

You have hit the nail on the head, if the "idiots" (your word) can't understand that NPCs are part of the game and only attack PCs then they are a griefer. This is exactly why I've always said that you shouldn't be able to get knowledge about to target so you can choose the easy fights. Back in SWG it was more fun when you couldn't examine a player and list their skill, TKAs ents FTW.

Not all pirates disable the engine. sometimes it helps to make a point to kill the player.

Why would a some one who only goes after players be a griefer? NPC ships are easy to beat and boring. Players are unpredictable and challenging.

Finally someone that feels the same way I do.

Contrary to the forums, there are hardly any greifers.

People are confusing pirates with greifers because they don't like getting attacked when carrying cargo.

Just saying..

spoken like a true griefer.

play solo play like most, don't have to ever deal with it again.
game offers no reason to multi play. It's MMo is a joke.

because the poor newbie is trying to earn some money to pay for an upgrade.
all you are doing is causing people to go solo play.
soon you will be shooting yourself in the foot because no other kiddies will be playing in your sandpit.
thats why this game is doomed for failure because there is no protection in multi play for newbies.
