I have managed to get the Dukes of Mikunn to start a takeover of a neighboring system

theres the npc political faction - the dukes of munkinn who have control of munkinn and are now expanding into another nearby system ( this will give rise to factions other than the fed or imperials) and small indepdant kingdoms will now expand over various solar systems. ( as players we can claim to be representative freelancers assisting xyz faction in their quest for galactic domination) im just starting n the game but as soon as i have credits and a decent ship i will be making my way out there to assist the dukes of munkinn because it sounds cool. Also we should try and push munkinn to an economic boom and see if that affects ( population, station numbers, economic situation, trade values and volumes) and mission quality as well as maybe pirates, bounty hunters, and npc traffic

Maybe it requires more players to induce more changes, one guy alone probably won't have much effect. I'd head that way but you're pretty far away.

Is there any in-game way I can tell you're aligned with that bunch? As it'd be interesting when you're with a nearby rival faction and want to sabotage stuff.

So far I have had amazing luck, (obviously) inducing changes with just me and a friend. Population, has not been one of those changes. I have, however, been amazed by the number of tons of food cartridges a population of 1200 asks for in trade.... over and over again hahaha.

yes i hope that FD expand the mechanics to allow us to upsize ( and of course kill a system) based on actions. Collectively. Are there any nearby systems that are empty that have planets, resources etc but no population, or that are economic systems, we need to look for targets for peaceful ( and non peaceful expansion of munkinn dukes)

Well, I'm a little confused. The first pic shows you having 100% influence while their expantion is 'critical', which I surmise means imminent. The second pic, where they've had their expantion, shows you now having 9% influence. I don't see any reference to 'allied' or 'neutral'??? Still, good work, Cmdr :)

The second pic is the neighboring system they are moving into since they needed to expand.

I wonder if this works in the outer systems, the ones that border uninhabited space. Could be a way of extending civilisation

i have a thery about outer systems ( they have a lot of terraforming colonies with high demand for goods) so we would have to trade goods to push those systems to terraformed, find earthlike mineral rich planets nearby ...... push the settled system to economic boom. And maybe kill lots of pirates in the unihabitied systems. Wait and see if the stations give missions to move poeple, perhaps colony modules, escort missions, or outpost shells to nearby system ( look for signs of basic outposts) requesting terraforming equipment and minerals. Dunno not sure if that mechanic is, we need someone to find a outer rim colony and then begin a thread and a project to expand civilisation

I purposely chose a system with low population, that was next to uncolonized space. Don't worry guys, I thought this through!

Same answer as above. I hope so.

This is an outer rim colony, and this is exactly what I'm trying to do. The Dukes apparently decided they needed the shipyards at the neighboring system. Makes sense to me.

Wow, this is exciting work you are doing here. I wonder if the small population is one of the reasons that only 2 commanders were able to have such a big impact while the red crimson experiment needed so many commanders and I don't think they succeeded like you have.
I was also wondering what advantages you get for being allied, currently I have only got to friendly with a faction and noticed little changed to be honest. I was hoping at least that they would stop scanning me like a criminal!

I din't want to post about this until I could prove the expansion. I was afraid of trolls hampering me. This still may happen at this point, but I wanted to push the knowledge base about how this works at least a little before I did so.

Oh yes. I misunderstood. Yes their influence in that system is low, but still 100% in the other system. I imagine once it begins to overpower the ruling faction civil war will erupt. I will keep this thing updated.

yesterday I read a thread testing the same theory as you and your mate are trying YET this guy has 100 named player's taking part with stats to prove its not working, I was all set to go and fight, they have a proper plan on how and who to attack, BUT then the next thread stated its not working and a call to the DEV team with proof, its all there quite a read it was too. I wish you all the best with your take over perhaps there's was to big a population and that's why it appears not to work YOU maybe right I truly hope so, this would give Great Game purpose if it works.

Excellent post! Thanks for confirming this. I was showing a faction as expanding but didn't want to hang around and watch.
This confirmation gives the game a very nice flavor!

Well come on down to Mikunn. I could use your help.

Update!

The System Authority in Mikunn have upgraded their previous Eagles to Vipers!

Also I have refined how to affect influence in the other system and have updated the original post.

That is seriously cool, what a really want to see is a new station being built somewhere due to faction expansion. That would be awesome. I would come over and help but I've just found a very good trade route and Im much too greedy to leave it at the moment.

IIRC there was a bug that prevented it from working but it has been fixed since (or so they say)

I would be curious to see the source of that info about the bug you mention. It would be useful for me to know. Everything seems to be working for me now though.

Something like that must have happend before i think with the Pilots Federation around the Foundersystem, they expanded to LFT 926. Would be interresting to see if we could make them take over that system. :)

Good job. Can you expand a bit of the neighbour systems population/economies/traffic? I think this is also key that only two guys were able to kick start it, probably a backwater isolated part of space.
