I have managed to get the Dukes of Mikunn to start a takeover of a neighboring system

Remember - Trading with the place you're trying to take over will harm Duke's expansion. Since the Controlling Faction will get more power and resources via trading.

In other words - If you want to damage the reputation/control of the controlling faction, kill all of their trading and security ships and keep doing donation missions for Duke! ;)

You're at War, son, WAR! KILL EM ALL!

(Or, if you pick up a hauler/trade mission from a Duke controlled system into a non-Duke controlled system, this directly 'feeds' Duke, increasing their influence).

A much smaller system, and the devs have updated stuff since Lugh apparently. I'm willing to give it a try.

Does selling exploration data improve your standing with a faction? Mikunn is a long way from me, could get a whole load of scans in en-route...

edit: selling rare goods apparently helps your rep too. might plan my route there via some rare selling systems...

Yeah it has since worked, my first post was in reference to someone saying the Lugh Experiment failed. I explained it did for a bug but that the devs had apparently fixed it

Thanks for posting the info, this is just the kind of "Big Picture" stuff the game needs to keep it alive in the long term. I hope the devs input lots more effort towards this aspect of the game in the future.

It seems we may achieve the same thing at a bigger scale with Alioth itself as the influence has risen over 10% in the last couple days (at 72% now). We will see, this would be interesting.

Definitely count me in, I'll be heading my Type 6 toward Mikunn once I've upgraded the FSD (probably later tonight if trading really has been fixed).

Cmdr Hoshi QaVam.

grinding food cartridge deliveries for hours upon hours to get eagles to be vipers in one system sounds super super fun. gg.

Food cartridges, personal weapons, long food hauls from Gandones, many many many many slaves. Considering the tonnage of slaves I've brought to Mikunn there are probably more slaves than regular citizens.

guess they don't count in the official population census then....

nah its a black market thing so theyll be uncounted, theres no certainty we can influence the population of a system yet ...... what would one do, kill pirates in mukinn, trade into mukinn. Do trade missions into mukinn. And yeah kill security vessels to dominant faction in nearby systems where duke has a presense

Very interesting! The idea of helping a little local minority faction to take over several system is really enticing.
As long they're Empire affiliated, of course. :D

So giving them slaves doesn't raise their population? Does that mean the slaves don't live there? Maybe they're so hungry they eat the... other... meat. But you give them food. Hmm.. maybe they have a religious cult that requires the sacrifice and disappearance of slaves?

Hi,

What happens if people work against you (e.g running weapons etc. for the opposition) but are playing in solo? Does this mean they could prevent your factions takeover whilst being invisible and invulnerable to you?

AFAIK we are all in the same galaxy, SOLO or OPEN are just different match making rules (SOLO matches you with NOBODY)
Open surely influences SOLO, not sure about the reverse

Here is an image I posted from Mikunn several days ago.

I worked to get them to 100% note it says "expansion critical". The Dukes of Mikunn are a 1200 population system. I've been doing missions and transporting them weapons for days with a buddy. And today I saw this in HR 7327 (a neighboring system)!!!

I went back to Mikunn and the update from pic 1 above now shows whats in the link given.

It has begun! From humble beginnings the Dukes of Mikunn will take over the galaxy! Long live the Dukes!
So far its been just me and a buddy! Join the cause! If you want to be part of this experiment I will start collecting names and add it here. Message me.

General info on the Mikunn Verse:

Four systems in nearby vicinity are trading with each other

  • Mikunn (Extraction)
    • 1 port
    • Pop 1,196
  • Kwatee (Industrial, Refinery)
    • 3 ports
    • 8 million pop
  • Sukua (Extraction, Refinery)
    • 2 ports
    • 25,631 pop
  • HR 7327 (Industrial, Extraction)
    • 3 ports
    • 33.2 million pop
    • Massive star system, pristine rings
    • Has only shipyard

HR 7327 is the largest and the smallest system of the four is beginning to gain influence. The group of systems is also placed on the border of civilized space. I chose this for the obvious reason of testing whether expansion was a possibility. The Dukes have decided that it is in their best interests to claim the nearby shipyard system before colonizing outward.

Background Story:
Coming Soon!!!!!!

Update 1:

So it appears doing missions at Mikunn now directly effects 1 faction within the neighboring starsystem. For some missions I complete, like donating food to Mikunn, the Dukes gain power in that other system from one faction only. I would assume they are gaining influence in that factions star port in order to take it over.

Also oddly, the system authority have upgraded their previous Eagles to Vipers. Literally every single one I've seen in a while has been in a Viper now.

That's amazing news :D This game just gets better and better!

I haven't been selling those slave son the black market ;). They've been arriving both through the regular market and straight to the duke right out of my cargo hold. Also its Mikunn =p

Non- affiliated with both. We of course have no interest (wink wink) on any of the empire or federation provinces. Our neighboring independants are on the cutting board. =) After we bring these independants into the fold our interest in expansion ends.... We promise =D

Okay, I thought up another chapter to their lore to explain the disappearing slaves.

After arriving at Mikunn and proclaiming themselves Dukes they soon realized that they were very short on supplies. They had no farming equipment and very little money to buy food. Eventually there was simply none left to spare for the slaves and even the overseers, and the slaves began dying. They dropped like flies, and flies covered their bodies. In desperation the Dukes allowed the overseers to prepare the bodies for eating. They survived. Against all odds they survived. The Dukes shared this "meat" with all their subjects. Soon however there was no meat left and the Dukes had to make some difficult decisions. They took the elderly slaves for the good of all. They had no choice. The slaves at first reacted in fear, but when they saw that they were still being fed they began to praise the Dukes as their saviors. The slaves took the weakest amongst them and offered them to the Dukes. Disgusted the Dukes were, they couldn't do anything else. They didn't want these offers to simply vanish and not be remembered for their sacrifice so they made the executions public. This went of for a while and they survived. Then one day a member of the pilots federation came. He came with food, hooray! The Dukes were indebted. The slaves however, still gave offers for sacrifice. It had become a sort of religion amongst them. A religion that made them see the Dukes as gods. The Dukes wanted to stop the sacrifice, but they couldn't without risking everything. So they made a proclamation. From henceforth they would no longer sacrifice from their own and instead take slaves from outside. Thus began the Cult of Mikunn.

erm. This has taken an unexpected turn.
