Some people have grown accustomed to a challenge of other people rather than NPCs. You're like my wife, "Oh look a quest, kill 80 rats, YAAY. I don't have to even think or try, so much fun". And she actually has fun.

Then there are people like me who enjoy the unknown. Different strokes I guess.

Oh my dear god one of them finally got it. I just fell out of my chair.

I've did that shameful thing twice and never had a scratch on me. Was enemy Viper that bad he wasn't able to kill a hauler (back then) w/o shields? Seen players vanishing in front of my crosshair seconds after sharp turn - how is that possible then? I'll tell you what - people are smart enough to kill process trough taskman and log in back. And tell me, why would ever experienced player bother trading in open?|

Except that there is no problem other than some people just can't get it through their heads that Frontier is not going to force people into the crosshairs that don't want to be in them.
Will you brickhead trolls ever care to notice, that if someone wants to play Singleplayer, and get easy money he should have separate profile for that, or at least a profit handicap or smth to balance this out? Oh not, you don't want because that's the way most of you earn credits. This is some kind of hypocrisy I believe. You don't want to be cut down from stream of EZ monies, because it is easier that way, not caring that whole multiplayer mechanic is broken this way. Not utterly, not making this game unplayable but exceptionally shallow. Duelist online, grinders solo. WOW such emotions, such UNIVERSE.
I know why is that. Because devs want to have total control over systems and want them being stable. Because organized group of players would force their laws on possibly key systems and don't want to implement complex mechanisms to prevent that (which would be less realistic) and this game is all about Unit. Don't ever dare to call this game sandbox.

Enjoying the unknown or allowing jerks to sneak into your gameplay? :) ED has plenty of the first and, fortunately, lacks the substance for the second at least when you figure out how it works.

Yes, ED will obviously die a horrible death because people have been given a choice of how to play the game.

Isn't that obvious? Right?

To balance it out for all the other people that don't have the same option? Wait everyone has that option if they choose it. Sounds balanced to me.

Will you brickhead griefers ever care to notice that Frontier is not going to force people into your crosshairs? If all you care about is ruining peoples fun, you'll have to look elsewhere, the devs aren't going to allow the kids that just want to throw sand to have the upper hand in this SANDBOX.

The problem with that "feature" is that there is no choosing. You have this all, simultaneously You don't sacrifice anything. You can switch anytime without penalty. If you're speaking about choosing, why not let player decide either to play singplayer OR multiplayer, not both. And if he decides to go from one to another he would have different profile for that? Is that BAD? If so, would you care to explain?

Might I suggest a psychiatrist?
Please don't. That many enraged griefers on forums is very entertaining. Tiny and noisy minority that just can't have it their way (and they really can't, the game architecture will allow for way to much cheating to even make forced PvP viable).

When will you folks understand that it's not a freaking race nor a competition? OK I suppose the "race to Elite" part is but no one give's a rat's hindquarters about that. I certainly don't, nor do I suspect that most people who play in solo/PG do either.

Also, just look at the poll results so far. 86% say NO. The other 14% that wanted something more EvE-like will probably move on to something else. Boo hoo, too bad so sad.

+1 rep m8ty well said

Can't believe some of these posts elite started as a single player game that's its back bone in the bbc micro days but ppl only seems bent on pvp if you get that bored that easily with out pvp sell your rig & play Cod on whatever

Just my view nothing personal

If you exit game yes, but if you kill game process it's almost instant poOFF! Also you have some shields and hull to withstand some hammering. Also if your PC is fast like mine you can log back online on solo play faster than you would expect.

*shrug* can expect pretty much. Knowing my own, it'd not be surprising if someone was back in 1-2 seconds. I meant anyway in way of trying to abuse the mechanics - disconnecting doesn't save one's skin.

Silly poll. With the amount of problems this game has, Solo mode is the least of its worries. There are at least half a dozen real problems that will kill the game far sooner than Solo mode.

I don't really care one way or the other, but I think that would seriously backfire on the people that are hoping to pull more players into their crosshairs, since if you forced the playerbase of this game to choose, I suspect the overwhelming majority would end up choosing the Solo / Private group setting, and Open would end up being totally and completely dead. As it is people can go to Open when they are in the mood for player interaction, and play in Solo when they are not without having to grind out two separate profiles, which I seriously doubt anyone wants to do. So this seems like the ideal situation to me.

Then again Im not in the camp that needs to destroy unarmed traders and clueless newbies in order to feel good or have fun, so what do I know.

Let me decide if I race for glory or fun, or just grind money for some sick satisfaction of gathering large amounts of them. Oh, you don't want me to. How's that fair?

Why you assume that I am a griefer? Would you care to notice, that as a dedicated Vigilante I would rather hunt player pirates and protect others. OH now you see that this is pointless BECAUSE THERE AIN'T NO FRICKIN' PIRATES cause there ain't prey for them. You just dumbed game down to farming cash and buying equipment to earn even more cash to buy top battle eq. and then go online and have duels and get bored to death with this game without real universe in it. Just a procedural generator of simple planet system models with repeating missions in it.

There are a ton of people that are trading in Open, myself being one of them. I think you're barking up the wrong tree trying to claim its not happening.
