Nope! There will be new data but the format will be the same. :)
So does this mean all our current data we've collected is pointless and we have to start again? or is there a conversion tool?
@harag I noticed the Profit Column in the " Good Trades from --- To ---- " & i've started inputting prices for Supply & Demand [ I only use to enter the supply prices ]My question to u is, shouldn't there be numbers in the Profit Column ? I haven't entered that many supply/demand prices. perhaps that/s why i don't see numbers in Profits ?:D
hi, yes you will only see numbers in the profits column if you enter the price for BOTH stations. if you don't enter both sets or the difference (buy - sell) is 0 then it will be blank.

It is dangerous to answer without using the new version, but this game is supposed to be dangerous.

Your old data should be perfectly fine, but if you don't have prices set for a station, you won't get a value shown. Obviously...

If some of the config files are changed, you may discover that values set in the past have been forgotten. Like if I myself defined the government "revolutionary hippies", and use the new default government list, all my revolutionary hippie information will be shown as blank. If you got "expiring stuff" you can probably query replace them in the text files used for storing your data. Making a backup before using a new version is a good habit for any program, anyways. And do at least make a backup before doing query/replace on a file with data you care about.

The most important data should be station names, system names, demands, prices, and notes. I am sure they will survive just fine.

Well, mostly true. In the government example, you'll still retain revolutionary hippie and it will show up correctly, it just won't be in the list. Remember all those fields are EDITABLE, you don't have to make a selection from the list. It will retain the value; its just a string. :)

Also the notes field can be used effectively for anything. There's be no search-based benefits to have a "user" field since you can search both notes and station data. I guess the only benefit would be that it's alittle more visible than sitting in the Notes.

Yes, all your data is safe. I don't see any issues with 2.0, but it might be best to just install it in a different folder (Cmdr's Log 2.0 or something) and copy your station_data.txt and whatever custom files you might have over to the new folder. That way you not only have a backup of your data, you can fall back to the previous version if there's a real problem.

Well, you can use any of the three you mention, just edit the text file entries defining the values. Like I won't care for both population and wealth, which leaves one spare to use for something. The label in the program will be off, though, but who cares?

I'd already thought about re-using the proposed ones for my own ends as I won't be using them either, but it would be useful if these were either generally labelled or some new general fields added . If you don't ask you don't get :)

Ok ok... good news is, with the window break up in 2.0; there's plenty of room on the stations window for more fields. How many you want? 1? 2? I'll make it a generic drop down that starts with nothing, but as you new entries in that field it will add the data to the list. Hrm... this will require either writing out the station_data.txt or putting that info in the save file.

I assume you'd use the field "globally"; meaning for all stations, and you wouldn't change what the field means depending on station or something. There might end up being more to this... I could even allow you to set the name for the label... Could be useful / powerful.... and very custom to YOUR save and the way you play.

Hey ArchV1,

On the first page, you state to use the 64-bit version unless you have to use 32. Is there any functional difference between the two?

The reason I ask is that I have the program and all the files in my Dropbox folder so it syncs between my machines. I usually run this on my main PC (64-bit Win 8.1) when running in borderless window mode. would like to occasionally run the program on my laptop which is next to my PC when I want to play in Eyefinity across all three monitors. Just so I do not have to keep alt-tabbing out to Cmdr's Log. This laptop runs 32-bit Win7.

Am I safe running the 64-bit program on my desktop and the 32-bit Cmdr's Log on the laptop and using the same data files (but at different times)? Or do I risk corrupting everything?

Thanks again for a great program!

That level of modularity can only make this tool more functional as a data manager. I don't undock without it. Well, I do, but it's always on the secondary monitor.

No functional difference. You can use all the same data files for either.

Since you have opened up new horizons for the station page, you could add some "advanced" display functionalities, maybe depending on the other fields used in the same page to describe the station. I'm thinking about a long term use here, when one could easily have hundreds of stations stored. Hiiding/Showing them individually would be a pain and impossible to remember and even to double check. If you can select only the Fed stations, or the anarchic ones, or those with a Huge population AND a dictatorship AND under the Alliance wing...... that'd be another damn good feature.

Oh btw, don't forget the journal. Cannot stay without writing down my deep thoughts about the sunrise on my favority binary planetary system.

my 22 cents :D

Dear Journal: Hot again, surprise. Uncle keeps yelling at me, he's mean. ;___; I hope he DIES! Not really, I'd probably run away with a crazy old man if that ever happened lol! I hope I can fly a spaceship one day! Something cool like my dad did! Awwwwwww, Uncle's shutting the power down, I have to go to sleep now. :(

Although to be fair that's probably not anyone's favourite binary planetary system >____>

I wish it was available for Android, constant ALT+Tabbing when on one monitor setup is not pleasant, nonetheless I love this tool, it's really handy. Good job.

If you change the game to borderless and use the data entry mode, you don't have to alt-tab all the time and can do all the data entry in one go.

Thanks! :) Two global custom fields should be fine. If we get to name them as well, even better! As you say it could be pretty powerful.

Edit: Unless of course you want to make all of the new ones custom, i.e. population, etc.... so let the user decide, in which case you may want to create four to six custom fields, as well as the defaults, government, allegiance and economy.

Thank you I found it! I have not really used PayPal before to send with just an email so hope he recieved it ok. It would be better to have a proper link to PayPal but I think I sent it ok.

Great tool and happy to contribute

Btw, can we use just one data file and run both the old and new V2 tool on that one data file? It would be good to keep the old tool as a back-up should we hit any bugs in V2

Once you change to windowless it all becomes clear and REALLY easy to input at speed
I always set my supply/demands first with the keypad 7,8,9 for low to high supply and 4,5,6 for low to high demand then hit the 'hide not set' button
Then scan down and enter prices it goes like > Enter > Price> enter enter> price and so on to the end

WOW ! Since inputting both prices for supply/demand in both stations i'm now even find bigger profits !!!

Many Thx Harag :D :D :D

Aright, home from work. Time to get to work. Ironically.

*cracks knuckles*

Edit: Starting the insane logic that is Round Trip calculation.

"Work harder, we not pay you nothing per week for you to slack off" ....

Jokes aside, your a legend mate for the work you put into this "Must have" Elite Dangerous companion.

But make sure you take, Quality time with the family, rest, food, drink etc. Such things are more important, ED will be here the next day and so fourth :)

@ArchV1

Btw ArchV1 There use to be a chap on the forums called Theo20185 that coded a program a bit like yours called " ED : Trade Route Assistant " i had v0.71 where we had to input the prices & it would show you many trade routes.

Have you seen it ? I could send it to ya if u like, perhaps it might give you a few ideas ??
