Things you wish you knew on DAY ONE of Elite

So yesterday I found out that you can actively use your discovery scanner. Haven't tried it yet but there are 2 dozen systems that are ''unknown" because I didn't know/read that info.

Anything you wish to share?

As you have to allocate it to a fire group I'm intrigued as to why you didn't try and 'fire' it before yesterday?!?...

You are supposed to drop out of SC at Nav beacons when you want to bounty hunt at nav beacons.
It does not mean that you should interdict wanted ships around nav beacons.

Not me but a friend, honest guv, didn't realise that you could drop out of Super Cruise at the Nav Beacons...

uh

I wish I knew I was buying a game that only has one way of doing anything productive with your time...trading

There isn't enough combat or combat oriented ways to have fun and make money while doing it. I'm not a spacenerd so I came for the gameplay and content, I'm dissapointed

That USS's are a waste of time.

THAT is only true under certain circumstances! Most missions where you have to find something or someone rely on you examining multiple USS's until the item you're looking for is randomly inserted into one.

So yes, maybe annoying and kind of careless game mechanic but absolutely necessary for a lot of players!

I don't agree. I made about 2 million Credits bounty hunting in a couple of days. So yes, maybe there are faster ways of getting money, but there certainly are ways to do it in combat. Just the assassination missions alone net about 150k each...

modules use power and if they exceed power when you get in a fight and deploy hard points the ship will lose power...

Unbinding "dump all cargo" will save your sanity.

Life support upgrades should not be overlooked.

If you don't have a fuel scoop you will regret it eventually.

When docking or un-docking check the letterbox and then check it again. Type 9 pilots won't even notice you go splat. No you can't "just squeeze past".

Your ship lights in your right UI are useful when landing on outposts that are in shadow.

When coming in to land at "ball" space ports check the holo left of your scanner after locking the station as there are arrows telling you where the entrance is.

If you need to look in USS for a mission then sit in SC at lowest speed and they will appear in range for you to just target and drop out. If you are flying around at speed they appear further away.

I wish I knew that "Jettison All Cargo" was bound to a key. I think they removed it on release as a pre-set bind though, not sure, but I made sure it was unbound.

wow how did you do that? When you say a couple days did you bounty hunt 48 hours straight? :D

I thought it was passive and only for detecting other ships and bodies. It wasn't until things remained "unknown" that I began to question what was going on. Easily passed 2 dozen systems...

Good info here- the low speed SC around beacons and the landing pad lights disappearing.

It was someone elses tip, but if you keep the countdown timer at 7 seconds or greater you cannot overshoot your target in SC. 7 seconds is optimal but it can be done at 6.
