Hoping next vid will have a fight where you can see shields getting hit and effects of it fizzle out after a prolonged combat. As awsome this vid was i dident have the feel of any ships had any shields active.

Pretty sure there is a big obvious section where a sidewinder is hit and their this glowing shield visual for it.

Loving the fact that so many lurkers have been finally driven out of the metalwork to comment on this video..... I think that speaks volumes for the quality of the game even in pre-Alpha state.

Welcome to all our lurkers... stay and enjoy the ride.... Your feedback will help build the game... stay quiet and you'll regret that you missed the chance to have your say

noticed myself after i posted, but i was focusing on the battle cruisers and not the fighters them self , my bad :S
i blame it on my poor eyesight

I can only wonder what would have happened if the kickstarter campaign had started with a vid like this - ED could have been looking at SC levels of money now.

I loved the way the Damocles only unveiled her ship to ship guns and tubes after the Imperial fighters were cleared a sound tactic:)

Ah is wasn't a tactic they were actually offline!!

Keep trying to shut my eyes and listen to the music/effects. Also watching the video looking at specifics each time (Proving to be an entertainingly difficult process)

I've been observing the development for some time now, but registered on forums just recently.
This video is something I haven't seen in a long time, it's got that "something". The scene of warping out into the battlefield is...just wow.
Big props to developers, please continue the awesome work and let me just tell you - there's more of us out there observing the progress, just not everyone has time/will to join the forums and tell you that :)
With this promo you'll be sure to draw in more people.

P.S.
If you maybe have original 1080p file to download, that'd be great!

That's just trailer music, right? Don't tell me they are going for mainstream sample orchestra / overblown Wing Commander/Star Citizen sound-a-like for the game?
if that is the case please build an mp3 player into the cockpit

Well, apart from the visual extravaganza, this video was a showcase for the winning composer Erasmus Talbot. Music is a matter of taste, but this is a high quality track. I put on my headphones the third time around to really focus on this. Myself I do not own many such epic orchestral scores with choirs in my MP3 collection. But I would be more than happy to find them in the apotheosis of a battle!

They did say that this was put together to allow the composer to showcase their work I would doubt very much the music will play in game at all times and like every other game released it will have options for turning off the music.

Reading the Kickstarter update, you'll find a much bigger promise. My interpretation (or hope?) is that we will get a musical soundtrack that will be adaptive to (non scripted!) in-game events. Perhaps something that might range from spooky ambience in your far out explorations, evolving into danger, battle, near-death, escape, triumph, team victory, and sitting out the bliss of your rewarding fight with an encouraging road trippy tune as you near the space station ready to cash in on your scooped containers.

Glad to know there is an inspired artist who finds a captivating musical score a challenge. And very much fitting the soul of Elite. So this goes far beyond my little collection of 'tunes I like'.

Hooray once more!

One very cool detail is that you can see that when the Battlecruisers systems comes online it's deceleration engines fires up - it's short but you can see it.

They say that patience is a virtue...

Please spare a thought for us poor so-and-so's stuck in the office with t'tube blocked by Group IT. Frustration..? An understatement. Something tells me I'll be leaving slightly earlier than usual today. All of the posts so far only serve to tease us more, and whet our appetites. Keep 'em coming..!
The afternoon will be long, I fear... :(

I know I have posted elsehwhere but just so super impressed with how the game is coming together. That vid was fantastic.

Having watched it a number of times I noticed the blue shield effects - they seem to work really well. At times I doubted if I should have backed this project at the level I did and results like this make it all seem worth it.

Great work Frontier. ;)

I'm off to watch the video over and over for the rest of the day..

So who here imagined that onboard the Imperial cruiser all kinds of dignitaries stabbing each other to get to the lifeboats while a quartet mournfully kept playing violins?
