Options for players currently without beta access to be able to purchase beta access will be available. Details will be made available nearer the time.

Thanks

Michael

Really REALLY not liking this idea. Why should we have to PAY you to HELP you? I know of no other game that does this. You limit the number of people that can test things, you divide your playerbase and not to mention, you just plain old screw your customers.

Seriously, this isn't like early access. Game is out. This is seriously, deeply concerning and makes me question supporting you and any future endeavors in the future.

It's not Friendly Fire though is it

Friendly, unintended, whatever you want to call it. Point is mistakenly hitting a friend or system authority vessel a single time with a weak hit and weak weapon won't "insta bounty/wanted" on you within a reasonable and small limit.

You don't HAVE too...

You can just wait a week and get the bugfixed version instead.

And...

You limit the number of people that can test things...

Yes, that's the point.

you divide your playerbase...

...temporarily for about a week while some of us test out new functionality...I will probably still be playing the main build at the same time though...

you just plain old screw your customers

How exactly? Care to elaborate?

Did you miss the part where it said "option"?

Some people actually ENJOY being a part of a beta testing. This gives them that option. If that's not your thing, that's fine - just play as you do now.

Looking further ahead there will be a 1.2 update which is planned to enter beta testing in the first week of March. The focus for this update will be Wings and other multiplayer goodness. I’ll provide more detail in future updates.

To say that I'm disappointed would be an understatement. While I have been the first to defend the premature release of Elite thus far, it is outrageous that it is still going to be until mid-march before we can meaningfully interact with our friends in game.

As no ship is design to handle 1000ly travels. Ploting a route with no control over the type of stars to scoop is way too dangerous. Imagine 400ly route without scoopable star automatically selected will dry your fuel tank todeath.

Great news keep up with the updates loving this game. I do worry that most people are treating it like a normal 20hr game. Make money as fast as you can blah blah. I have been playing since Beta and I am only worth 14Mil but im happy (wife is not)

Wow, i read this n yet totally missed the last sentence...lol, thanx Tinman...xciting times in ED dev..cant wait to beta test again :)

You're not the only one missing that bit...which is a bit funny considering it was the most interesting piece of news they released last week. ;)

"We’re currently looking at extending this to 1,000 light years!"

I think i just did a tiny bit of excitement wee.

Don't do it then, just because no other game does it doesn't mean this one can't. They obviously want people who want to test the game to help test new features, they've already said the testing period will only be a week or so, so if you don't want to do it then don't. Not sure how that is dividing the playerbase (as the rest will get access a week or so after) or screwing the customers.

Bye

Well Friendly fire I understood the argument for, especially in warzones, but anyone I just don't think is right as I have said in the other thread, but it's all academic anyway as it's going ahead regardless. At least we get to test it.

Thanks for the major support.

Quick Question - I noticed all the fixes relating to Missions and was curious if there was a plan to review how missions scale? Currently they go from 1K to 20K reward missions and then jump to offering 100-150K kill single expert pilot missions. Would it be possible to add middle of the road rewards that bridge that the gap?

You honestly see no problem with this? I want to help them, a lot of people want to help them, they should want a LOT of people to help them, but before they can help them, they have to give them additional money?

Seriously.. NO OTHER company does this because it is in VERY bad taste. Every MMO and even just multiplayer games (BF4 for example) has a PTR (Public Test Realm) that is free to all gamers to download and try out the new content, give feedback, bug reports, etc.

I did 350Ly to the Pleiades Cluster without any trouble finding scoopable stars, in fact no more than 2 systems in a row without scoopable stars. It just takes some attention and I certainly wouldn't want all of the danger taken out of exploring.
