...the internet in UK is hardly 24/7 it goes off at least several hours to 1-2 days a month...

You might want to consider changing your ISP. There have been a number of high profile outages but I don't ever remember the entire internet going down. The AS 7007 incident probably came close but that was in 1997. Even then I think it was limited to affecting just some users in the US for a few hours.

So I purchased this game based of videos I watched on You Tube and I have been playing for the last 4 days.
I have had such an amazing time, I have seen no bugs at all and this seems very well designed and polished.

So I come into the forum and see this thread.
The people posting saying they dislike this game...... are you high on paint thinners?

This game is amazing, I can actually Land my ship, no other space sim has done that correctly.
The sounds of the pulse lasers sound like the sounds from the movie "The last Star Fighter"
This really made me feel like Alex Rogan when I played (another Last Star Fighter Reference)

Based on my feed back and my twitch stream to my friends I did over the weekend I have 6 friends whom have immediately purchased the game.

This is a excellent cross between wing commander, Free lancer and Eve online.

I love how Hyperspace jumps are between stars, this makes the most logical sense when dealing with point to point interstellar travel.
Out in space what can you see, Stars. As Exo planets are damn hard to pinpoint.

Jumping out on top of the Stars have been the most exciting times as my first reaction is "Shhhhhhh" as I pull back as hard as I can on the joystick trying not to be sucked down in the stars gravity well.

The interdiction is amazing (I do not use it however I have had it used on me frequently)

I think interdiction is amazing however I feel really bad for the poor fools whom successfully pull me out of super cruise.
I am no beginner and have been playing nearly every star fighter game since computers first brought them to me.
I have a kill count of 4 so far, those poor poor pilots, I bet that had no idea what they were in for.

Having actual inertia in the flight physics is amazing, so dog fighting is like something from Battle star Galactica (remake)

For those whom do not enjoy this game I feel terrible for you as there is obviously some kind of short falling on your part stopping you from enjoying this.
However on the flip side I would rather have die hard fans of Space combat playing anyway.

Thanks to the Dev's and keep up the fantastic work.

You think the apocalypse was needed to screw up the playstation network at christmas recently? or countless other online games last year? Ah must be nice living in that wonderland of yours.
Yes because PSN is a good service in the first place...

Also please tell us of these countless "other" games that we were not able to play. I really would like to know.

I feel equally as baffled by (and sorry for) people that hate seafood, or beer or sex.

I hate seafood - just tastes nasty (and I come from a family of lobster fisherman..go figure), I dont drink, I do love sex, AND I love this game!

Best video - game - ever period! (hands down - IMHO)

I am glad I bought this game - I have since sold , un-installed, and removed almost every other game I have!

After 2 weeks of playing this game and logging about 100h in, I find it absolutely boring now. At first I was pumped about the combat, so I bought my first eagle but its very straightforward, circle the enemy till you line up with him. Combat kinda sucks when the modules have so little info on them as well.. Then I bought a cobra and things became a bit more fun, I was participating in high/low int. zones. Cool? I just made 3000CR for destroying a Master Anaconda ha! Then, looked up some players here on the forums and their achievements CR wise, since I was interested in getting the most expensive ships and kitting them out proper. I see players with 400BCR, wondered how that was so, so I sold all my ships and bought a type-6, started doing trading, made 25m, bought a type 7, made 100m, bought a type 9, made 800m and bought an anaconda. made some more money after that, and now its just boring, no more content.

If you want to complete this game, just go and trade.

its basically a money pool, since killing a Cobra with a wanted status and a bounty of 1k CR gets old and boring.
I'll probably play this game just because its kinda fun to see all the high numbers, and its fun to have most ships, but till they get the balancing between Bounty/Exploration/Trading done right, there is only 1 way to go in terms of credits.

They also need a lasting content and some more diversity. Killing elite Anacondas is boring AF. What kind of Pirate Lord, goes out patrolling the sector when he has a 150-190k bounty on him? there should be fleets attached to him/her, or several other ships.
Perhaps you should have not made trading your primary source of income. Everyone already knows by now that every other form of making credits besides trading (I still feel it is unbalanced)is in need of improvement. Improvement will come we just need to wait for a bit. Rome wasn't built in a month and neither will this game. Sure some features are missing, but the game is stable! Pretty damn optimized, and it runs without a hitch. I feel Frontier wanted a stable game at release and they have done a good job doing that. Now this year should be interesting to see whats in store for it.

I myself have only now just got into an ASP since I mine for my credits. So it is honestly pretty exciting every time I fill my cargo hold. New things to try. More upgrades for my ASP, and that one paint skin they offered? The blue and white? Dude it looked so awesome I had to get it!

Thanks for the post it reminded me to go and setup an account on 4,532,343 product sites I havent bought and express my joy at not procuring their product.

Now off you toddle.

Behold no offline single player? That is to me the alpha-omega of if I should get a game. I do not play online games (unless it is a MP session with a friend or two) I expected and was told by the kickstarter that this game WOULD work offline single player.

So you didn't back it, nor have you bought it since. Thanks for checking in an letting us all know. MUCH appreciated.

IMHO - Persitance authenticated DRM is by far the least offencse way of doing DRM, I don't mind it at all. I wish they had two factor auth, but a strong password will do for now.

But then I remember code wheels, manual iconography and quizzes and all the other archaic and horrific copy protection in times of yore. I'm just glad I don't have to use all that crap anymore.

Dark maroon/burgundy paper with black text in small fonts that was almost impossible to read, and couldn't be photocopied. (Bard's Tale games come to mind here). Recording the media at a faster/slower speed than most disc drives ran at, and thus tended to cause read errors and long load times for some people. Finding the 3 word in the 25th paragraph of the 15th page of the game manual. Having to have a 'play' disc inserted into the drive at all times.

Those were some of the least onerous ones. Then there were the really rabid fanatics that would combine them.

I think I can deal with online DRM. I don't necessarily like it, but it's not nearly as much of a hassle.

You must have a very busy life OP. I can't imagine how time consuming it is to visit the forum for every game you have not purchased to post a wall of text explaining why. You know, there is just something fishy about that. Something just doesn't ring true. I wonder why?
