5 Million Bounty

Too bad you cant negrep anymore. Many people who are happy that someone lost his ship to a bug might fully deserve one.

And OP gets a +1 for being honest and fully selfaware.

Regardless of what I deserve, I choose to play the game as I see fit. I've had this bounty for eons now. The last updated bounty list was from ages ago up until Jan 22 brought the daily updated lists again with patch 1.06.

Think about it for a moment - I've had that bounty since then and for this long and yet nobody has claimed it before...Why do you think that is?

It's not about being salty. I lost 3 million credits in the crash and I can afford to lose my ship 600 times over. That's how I choose to make my path in the galaxy, and that's how I will play and enjoy the game. The 5 million credit bounty took a bit of effort, but rest assured I'll be back on that list before you know it. I will build up a bounty again off of the remains of dead traders and stupid bounty hunters until one day a worthy adversary comes to claim it.

The problem for me is that this is such a blatantly dumb glitch that it does get a little frustrating. It's all fine that the newbie got a nice boost and all, but I've ticketed and posted about the Clipper Mass Lock issue forever now, ever since I got the ship over a month ago. I was responded to by the devs that the fix would come in 1.1 but I didn't think it also extended to collisions...that's just ridiculous.

In any case, look for me again on the bounty list, Commanders. Next time you won't be having a glitch to hide behind.

Edit: I did not have to pay the bounty as I was not in Federation Jurisdiction when I re spawned.

By the way, Liqua is not a newbie, far from it, Im pretty sure he was an Alpha backer so kudos to him 😄

To be upset some players who got PK'd have an chuckle at his expense only shows an total disregard for how human nature works.
If you PK then you should be able to take that when things do not go your way.
And quite a few here lost ships to bugs too. Big ships. Full with expensive freight.
Few do cry here on the forums for it.

Epic! Well done Liqua.

Hi Commanders

My first PvP encounter ... left all shaking and everything

Not 100% sure what happened but met a pilot in Shinrarta with a 5 million bounty on them.

I mean, come on, you just have to have a go right despite them taunting me "not wise commander" ?!

(They were in a clipper and myself a cobra)

I know it wasn't my "skill" as I am pants at this game so I can only assume you blew yourself up ?

Now I need a stiff drink before cashing in on this bad boy.

Thanks CMDR !

Anybody who Rams as a combat tactic when in the superior position deserves everything they get tbh, I had a guy who failed to kill me in Supercruise follow me to a star port and then rammed me as I flew out the docking tube killing me so little sympathy here I'm afraid, only comfort is I believe they died too as I heard multiple explosions

Redan - FWIW a cobra has a hull mass of 180T, not 80T, and mine fully equipped is around 280T.

Im pretty sure he was an Alpha backer so kudos to him 

I was, but in the world of PvP I had, until this point, not engaged anyone. The tipping point was what the KWS revealed - I mean come on ... 5 million !! More than I had earned since the start. That alone was worth the insurance to have a go.

(Casual player - only just made my 1st million the other day)

So...

This was my bounty.

Here's the full story.

This dude attacked me in front of a station...Forget the fact that the station didn't help at all, despite my allied status with it.

I distance myself from the station and engage. He is not even a worthy target. I strip his shields in moments, bring down his power plant down to like 10% with his hull down to 20% or so. I then choose (like an idiot) to clip him with my wing by ramming him. I assign full pips to shields...Mind you I have more than 2 rings left...and I crash into him with my wing. The impact kills me, despite the fact that his ship weighs 80 T while mine weighs 600. Despite the fact that he was at 20% and I was at 100%. Despite the fact that I had shields and he did not.

What the hell, FD?

i think its just the way the cobra is, it's made out of some combination of adamantium and mythril. I've crashed my asp into them a few times and every time i get wrecked and they dont even get a scratch. I even have military plating and 5A shields but i still get severe dmg or die.

Didn't Sandro say that you don't have to pay it anyway if it's claimed by a CMDR? A pretty weird mechanic :(
Piracy is already choosing fun over progress realistically, I think if bounty was too harsh and you died, your never going to cover insurance. Pirates don't make enough to even cover larger ships let alone bounties as well lol. If piracy was really lucrative I could see it being the other way around but currently they've chosen the fun but liable to be exploited scenario, hopefully they are keeping an eye on people looking to farm their friends for fast cash.

Not entirely sure how It works

+ rep for Redan.

Whether people like it or not, he's the sort of player that we need on both sides of the law. It adds colour to the universe and the player base.

Lets face it, most of us just dont want the hassle of having such a large bounty on our heads !!!!!

Can we get this thread stickied that way everyone whining about pirates claiming they add nothing to the gameplay, just run around griefing people and exploiting the bounty system can just shut up?

This is a perfect example of how PvP multiplayer is supposed to give EVERYONE unique and memorable experiences.

haha cobra did that to my asp boosting out of a toaster slot. My theory is that the cobra is like a splitting axe. It's wedge shape just cracks you open like a maul hitting hardwood..

Am I the only one that thinks a collision with a 1% cobra should function like a 100% cobra (and probably does)?

No.

However, equal and opposite reactions and all. Both parties in a collision should generally be taking the same damage, with a few exceptions, and any damage that would have destroyed the Clipper in this scenario should almost certainly have destroyed the Cobra several times over.

Even if there is some leeway for ship shape and impact point, the results still don't make much sense.

Not necessarily a bug although likely.

Cobra is a nice compact ship, good strong wedge shape by the look of it. I'd imagine the superstructure makes a very strong cell structure, with good diaphragm action going on through the plates

Wing of a Clipper on the other hand is a cantilevered element designed for form it seems as mush as function with a lumpy nacelle on the end of it

Seems to me not a great suprise that the Cobra would rip off the wing nacelle like a toughened razor through butter

I don't think the damage model is this detailed.

I wonder if the Clipper has bugged mass for some calculations? Remember Federal Fighters (the COndor before they named it the Condor) back in Beta that would blow up pretty much anything that grazed one because they bugged the fuel mass and the ship was like a million tons or something for the purposes of collision damage?

Something similar might be going on with the Clipper, which could be explaining it's fragility and it's inability to mass lock ships it should be able to mass lock.

It has a secret monomolecular filament installed around the edge...

Completely agree, It sounds like the op had Liqua beat and then rammed him for the lolz. What goes around, comes around.

It could well be a bug, only time will tell. I'd doesn't change the fact, ramming a beaten ship and causing your own destruction, has a certain irony to it.

According to my Bulletin Board, the Bounty is still listed as available. Oh and I saw my first F63 Condor today. :)

I'm no physics expert but ramming a 180 ton object with 400 ton object (regardless of condition still weighs 180 tons) at combined speeds I'm guessing in excess of 1000 mph probably equates to bad physicsy things happening which result in explosions?(I actually wish I knew the math to work out a rough guess at the energy involved in this collision) granted the cobra should have gone boom also but still. I know its a video game and I can see why you think your ship should have survived, but still, didn't a little part of you at the back of your mind think maybe this isn't such a good idea?
