Sure, but that doesn't really solve the problem. It IS an element of the game and it's being circumvented.
The fact is there are several ways to play without PVP - you can play solo or in a large PVE group. You can trade away from the starter areas (I forget how many times I've posted about how I've yet to have someone interdict me after trading in open since launch). What I don't understand is why people play in open if the threat of being interdicted and killed or robbed by a player is such a major concern.
And please note I am in no way suggesting that they don't have the right to play in open. I just don't understand. What's the appeal? Why open and disconnect the moment you're put in a position where combat is possible rather than say the mobius PVE group which is at something like 4k players* now?
(*I think. Saw someone post that number today, no idea how accurate it is)
Currently, the only motivation really to play in Open is the "Race to Elite". I'm sure, with cash on the line, plenty of unscrupulous types are pulling whatever router/disconnect shenanigans they can in an attempt to win the prize. Here's hoping that FD does some pretty rigorous checking before they hand out the cash, to ensure one of these exploiting types doesn't walk away with the gold.
Yep. My computer locked up and I had to ctrl+alt+del...
Might work the first few times, but once FD starts seeing a mysterious habit of "frozen computer" that only seems to happen during combat, well....
