FD just Nuked loads of trade routes!

Seeing as how you can completely dry out a station in 3 or 4 runs, that hardly seems "fixed".....
Only if you've chosen the wrong station
After reading this earlier today I was anxious to get in and try my trade routes. After a couple hours of running my main money maker I can say that I am not worried in the slightest. After about 10 round trips I started losing ONE credit per ton on one of the legs. One. The supply stayed almost the same because of NPC influx maxing it out during my 11.5 minute round trip. My advice is to do what I have done from the beginning and never use a trade route that is publicly sourced. Never. You should also strongly consider refraining from trading in a system that has more than 100 fly-through commanders in a 24 period.

...

Take heart commanders, trading is still very much alive.
This has been my experience as well.
...

Trading now is more like playing that game while blindfolded.... the only way to find a trade route now is by luck, chance... total randomness....

Oh and by the way... once you have found the right combination... it changes!
...
KORG.
People keep saying this, but that doesn't make it true.
Not any more. The figures you see for supply drop when you load up. Preciously they would be back to their old value by the time you returned but now they stay dropped. So a t9 with 500t of cargo exporting from a high supply gold station with a stock of 2000 would get 4 runs and only one of those would be at high supply prices.
Well there's your problem. 2000 units is not a high supply. More like 50,000 or 100,000 is a high supply.

I was unaware that the game itself was about getting an anaconda.

Doesn't matter. If you want an anaconda you have a ton of grinding to do. Just because you are happy with your hummingbird doesnt mean everybody should be stuck grinding away for something else.

Maybe they never intended seeking lux to be credit printer?

Maybe just maybe, they wanted players to actually have to use their heads and figure out how to look for the best trade routes, instead of being told what and where to trade?

You don't actually trade do you?

He's not wrong. Even without Seeking Luxuries, it was quite easy to just use Thrudd's or Slopey's to find an unlimited route. Before I hit up and Tenche, I was running a 14 Ly 2700cr/t/rt that never dried up.

Actual nuclear strikes on trade facilities? COOOL :D

the dude that called it the 'Haulercaust' was more right than he imagined. So many people running around screaming in a panic. Its actually quite hilarious to see the overreactions flying.

Will thrudds continue to work now, I should imagine it Will need updating a lot more often with supplies no longer being static?

I wonder how this will effect all the crowd sourced trade tools like Slopey's Surely all the data is going to be out of date in no time at all and people will soon learn its not a good idea to upload data if the route they just found is only worth a half dozen trips. Maybe this was the reason behind the changes.

I think it was done to make the trade simulation a working simulation instead of static numbers that never changed.

FD should have done this from day one, then nobody would be complaining like they are now their gravy train is running dry, and they have to actually leave the 2 systems they were trade spamming!

Just another mistake by FD, unfortunately.

Again....no one is complaining about making trading more dynamic. Its the lack of functioning in game trade tools that is now the issue. Galaxy map tells lies and the 'export to/import from' telly you nothing. I'm happy to have to hunt down those good trade runs but I want something other than blind luck and guesswork to do it with

What the everliving hell? "Exploring is content"? Since when? Especially if you've seen one gas giant, you've seen them all.

And "immersion"? Please. That has to be a joke.

You're comparing this _GAME_ to a real-world JOB?

A job you have to pay to get in and pay to get acces so you can go to work at that.

I'm agreeing with you.

I just meant to say, it should have been from day one, not 2 months after release.

People have got used to playing the game one way and now they have to accept playing it another way, even if the new way was the original intended way!

Thanks for that useless analogy to real life.

This is a videogame, which is something people play for enjoyment, not a simulation of the human condition. If I wanted to grind for eternity until I die I would go work at Starbucks.

And get paid in the process. They have it all backwards at FD.

That's a good thing. As long as third party sites dominate the way this game is played, in game systems will never be developed properly.

Slopeys tool used to scrape memory until FD said it was no longer allowed.

Can FD tell if people are scraping memory for trade information?

If crowd sourcing trade routes is no longer viable, will People with this software ability be at an advantage?

yeah, slopeys was great at pointing you towards potential trade routes, but I'm afraid that now it's likely going to be out dated. I used Roguey as well - not sure if the 'last updated' feature can give a hint if the data may be out dated.

Linkage below if it helps anyone.

Again, stop the personal attacks.

Secondly, this argument of the "Journey" being worthwhile in and of itself is misleading. Because by that yardstick, you can thusly defend any and all games from being criticised for lacking content or worthwhile things to do. In effect, even a "watch paint dry" simulator would be a game worthy of your attention, due to the "Journey" from fresh paint to dry paint.

I like playing that game with the blue screen. I miss the warning that you have performed an illegal operation though.
