Mercenaries of Mikunn - The Background Simulation and Colonization Test

On the plus side, we're no longer in Boom, so that's not holding us up. And we DIDN'T have a Civil War we lost, so we don't have to wait 25 days for a Cool Down to try again. Michael Brookes said, Civil War Critical failed. I'm hoping he'll clarify if it was due to player actions opposing our efforts, or if we just didn't do enough.

Factors that worked against us:
- Looky-loo players coming into the systems to check out the GalNet report, trading increased Dynamic Commodities & Law Party (oops, maybe I shouldn't have submitted that)
- Looky-loo players and Mercs (not knowing better), bounty-hunting in HR 7327
- Mysteron doing stuff
- Merc player actions inadvertently aiding non-Dukes of Mikunn in HR 7327*

* On TeamSpeak yesterday, we realized players were running missions INTO HR 7327 from Mikunn, which were likely supporting Dynamic Commodities, Law Party or the other two. We have to remember, missions going from one system to another will increase influence in BOTH systems, but to only one faction per system. For example, if you run a mission from Kwatee for Kwatee Union to Dukes of Mikunn to deliver Silver or a courier mission, Kwatee Union in Kwatee and Dukes of Mikunn in HR 7327 will gain Influence (while the factions gain state changes - Boom/Civil Unrest/etc).

That means running a Dukes of Mikunn mission from Mikunn to deliver something to Law Party in HR 7327 gives Dukes of Mikunn influence ONLY in Mikunn, NOT in HR 7327. It also increases Influence to Law Party in HR 7327. Such a mission would probably be detrimental to our cause, at least as far as Influence gain goes.

So if you're going to run missions INTO HR 7327, either from Mikunn, Kwatee, Sukua or any other system, make sure the recipient is Dukes of Mikunn.

They say the patch changed station behavior for 1.1 . If scanned and wanted only system authority vessels will open fire not stations so im going to make a run at hiraga not really worried about ship fire. First i have to do some shoveling (stupid real life).

To clarify, we do not know for sure that courier missions from Mikunn only effect the Dukes faction in Mikunn, but this is plossible, and if this is the case only Dukes to Dukes missions in from Mikunn to HR will be beneficial in this courier scenario. Again, we are not sure this is the case but we must assume it is and try to avoid it.

Michael Brookes confirmed it's a bug. Hopefully this gets fixed sooner than later.

Once more, we've found a bug in the background simulation - the main point of this endeavor.

I think thats what he is saying but Im not sure.

And by the way people, before everyone despairs. Soda is correct in that this is the main point of the group. Consider it a partnership with the devs, so if this is in fact a bug, do not take it out on them. Instead lets just help them find ways to make the game better.

It's unfortunate that the bug happened, but all we can do is move forward I suppose and continue to build our influence.

I usually keep to myself, but I must agree with what Soda and Walt have said:

THIS:
If you're going to run missions INTO HR 7327, either from Mikunn, Kwatee, Sukua or any other system, make sure the *recipient* is *Dukes of Mikunn*.

I simply overreacted ^^

Even if the war failed there's still no reason to despair. We found a major simulation bug and as such our actions are changing the game in a meaningful way and will have repercussions all across the galaxy. Sure, we don't have a new station to call home just yet, but in the future when other groups are waging war and expanding territory for chosen factions, it'll be because of us that they'll be able to accomplish such things.

We are the pioneers and being the first is never easy. We may have not gotten the war we're all clamoring for but we still made progress.

But what is our next move?
If we lower too much the Law Party, they may enter into civil war with HR Dynamic, and if HR Dynamic wins Gabriel's station, that will be harder for us to win it I think.

I'm a bit lost here...

Is there a way to simply raise our influence and lower everyone else's equally?

I've been having a lot of fun with this for the past couple of days... it's nice to have a purpose, even if it's not working out the way it was envisioned. I'm going to continue on working towards the goals, picking up missions for the Dukes the best I can (or missions delivering the the Dukes from outside HR). Hopefully as we test the limits of the system, the Devs will tweak it to work the way it's supposed to. I'm really looking forward to being able to build stations from scratch, capital ships, etc, and I hope that comes to fruition.

Thanks to the organizers for putting in the work to get this going and keeping it on track.
