We deserve an Official answer from David Braben (I dont think he really knows what happened with 1.)

I fear there may be some over-reaction going on in this thread. Calling for people to get sacked is a bit heavy handed. Crikey it will be torches and pitch forks in a minute or worse still the ultimate British action....writing a strongly worded letter.

I actually do own some GREEN INK and can DO random CAPITALISATION, so watch it!

Were I a lead developer, I'd give whoever decided to release the patch in this state an earful. If it was my decision I'd expect an earful.
If I did it too many times I'd expect to be searching for employment elsewhere.

Not disagreeing there, the issue was known and FD have an edge over the likes of Blizz who prefer to update during a weekly slot. They could have delayed for 24h with no impact (assuming the message was properly pushed out to us, the masses). However I suspect there is a management decision that they must announce confirmed release dates for these minor content patches.

mistakes happen, yes, but the way it happened here should NEVER EVR happened.

a bug was spotted, deamed major, yet despite that, it made it live.

furthermore, once they knew it made it live, no rollbacks done.

so yes, sanction should fall

this denotes:
1- lack of following in dev. quality
2- lack of QA
3- lack of responsivness
But they do happen. When Trinity expansion was released for Eve, it decided to just go and delete peoples boot.ini files in Windows Xp. Perhaps the bug was released but didn't fire for some reason? Or they never got around to it yet. Sure, it's easy to say push the patch back until it's ready, or rollback - but does anyone here know the potential in financial cost for doing this? I doubt it and sometimes a rollback isn't feasible or can cause more problems than it's worth.

Point is; people like to point out where FD went wrong, without even knowing what went wrong.

I'm not saying they did a good job (considering the amount of QQ on the forums, they clearly didn't) since I was commenting directly on that posters comment about ear-fulls, not on FD"s performance. What I am saying is that having to shout at people, or being shouted at - really doesn't achieve anything, and I just felt like pointing that out. xD

Potential exists for a possible financial impact. Sometimes, pre-release, devs switch over to bug fixing, fire-support and so on - so no new content is being developed for that time. Every hour that passes with no new development can be seen as a financial loss.

With such incompetence

It will be hard to find .

Far from it.. want a game where major game-breaking bugs/exploits were repeatedly reported on a beta server, yet still somehow went live, causing utter havoc? I'd vote for Cryptic's "Neverwinter", though there are plenty of others out there.

The amount of pompous, self-important, keyboard warrior sense of entitlement in this thread is just unbelievable.

What it boils down to is: something wasn't perfect, someone made a mistake, this mistake covered almost 24 hours before being fixed. From this, people are ditching the game, whining like teenagers, spouting like they've been burgled and flaming as though this is even remotely important.

Wonder how many people making these comments have never made a mistake in either life or work. Hands up please.

Seriously, grow up, it's pathetic. You really need something to worry about.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't Elite Dangerous a Release title.... why would we have to refer to beta forums??

Early stage ?!? I thought this was a full release. Is it stated in the home page or store that you're buying an early stage version of the game ?

this is does need clarification.

I and many others have had posts deleted for correcting those that still call it a beta or "Early accesses"

one mod says one thing,
one mod says another...

What is going on...
I have no time to squabble with the community manager.
Its a joke, I paid for a full release, I do not get any of the early backer benefits, yet we are constantly fed this beta nonsense.

If you are rehabbing this a beta, early accesses game, can the rest of us get the same benefits? Perhaps a cash refund?

Just a clear Answer from a dev would be nice, not random replies from mods...

They definitely have some sort of version control or build problem, as well as a seemingly complete lack of regression testing.

What I was thinking but could not be bothered to write. Right on Commander.

It never ceases to amaze me how far people will go when they are safely out of range

You paid for the game provided as is; in a release state. ED is an on-going project game, meaning for the next several years there will be consistent improvements content and tweaks forthcoming. FD's approach to this is to allow the community who bought GAMMA or earlier to partake of said succulent treats. The community who plays BETA does their best to report all bugs (you guys rock btw, I can't be bothered to BETA test since I spend all day BETA-testing my own products, lol) they find to FD on the forums; and FD do their best to fix as many of those bugs as possible. Unforatunately, they don't have the time or man-power to get to all of the issues at once. When one refers to, or references, BETA they are likely talking about the BETA release of the upcoming patch, BETA 1.1 for example. Sometimes they're referring to BETA pre-release; but you can normally get which one they're referring to by the content.

Hope it helps.

How many times i have to say this.

The Devs lives in a buble, and keeping saying "DB vision is the best". Despite this vision be just the same from 1984. And they seem deaf and blind(not necessarily in that order)

Yeah, this is ridiculous. I don't even think they made a mistake, they were probably well aware of the issue and were working on it separately while they finished up the big patch and figured they would just release it the next day because most people won't even notice it.

As the issues that were in the game had been ticketed in the 1.1 beta forums and are huge bugs, that's a HORRIBLE choice.

Most of the crying is likely made by people who don't have the slightest inkling of how software development works.

I hope the mods clean-up these forums soon from all those whining and complaining COD Pew Pew kiddies, or at least create a sub-forum where the mods can move all their noise and raging threads.

As customers people should niether know or care how software development works, I don't give a rats ass how Ketchup is made but I still consume it.

It'd be much easier at this point for them to move the two or three positive threads lol
