We deserve an Official answer from David Braben (I dont think he really knows what happened with 1.)

Then you haven't been in any kind of software development. It's completely normal to decide which are major bugs (crashes/freezes), which are minor bugs (game works but impedes/degrades gameplay in an aspect), and which are bugs that aren't going to be fixed (yet, or at all) because they are not relevant for gameplay/sales.
If you aim to fix all bugs for a patch/bugfix/release this is what happens: you never release. There's always more bugs coming in than you have time to fix, so you prioritize until you have something you feel can be handed out.
You set a quality goal which maybe says: "no major bugs, 5 minor bugs and the number of low priority bugs doesn't even count for the goal"
And sometimes even that is compromised by deadlines (there are monetary considerations to any software project, you know?)

And - gasp - even testers aren't infallible. Sometimes a bug just isn't found during testing.

So then you get a bugfix for a bugfix. It happens more than you think.

1- this bug is major, or they should rescale
2- this bug was known from players, reported to FDEV and acknowledged, thanks to the beta server

What he said. Software development is hard, I am sure they are doing the best they can.

And about ignoring beta feedback: From what I gathered on the forums they thought they had fixed the collision damage when they made the 1.1 release. Turns out it was not fixed. They have already pushed out 2 hotfixes in less than 24h. They seem to be working overtime to get things right. I dont know what an apology from the head honcho would accomplish so I think we should just give FD a break and let them do their work.

then it means they didn't even tested the code they pushed live or they would have at least noticed the bug was not fixed.

i do QA testing among many other things, be it hardware or software, when a new build come up, you run standard test suite, and you double check every point that the new build is supposed to fix (that is actually one of the many purpose of patch note, so that not only customers know what is changing, but other ppl working with you, later in the process, can act accordingly).

that is how QA works in real life

To the OP. I think you need to keep something in mind.

If you made a thread like this on Ubisofts forums you might get a stock response from a stock community droid manager that says how much they value their clients and will do everything to please them, while the cyborg CEO of ubisoft it laughing his ass off while snorting a white powdered substance off the mamaries of a lady of negotiable affections.

At the same time, mr braben is at home, snughling up to mrs braben, drinking ovaltine, while watching eastenders.

Therefore you simply cannot make demands of Mr Braben. Its just not morally right. ;)

So then you get a bugfix for a bugfix. It happens more than you think.

Then you also get the emergency fix (sticking plaster) which sort of fixes it enough to keep everyone off your backs long enough to work on the full fix, followed by the refactoring of that bit of code which then gets canned because the dev time is needed for another fix or is moved onto a feature.

although i do not think a personal answer from the CEO of a company will do much, this situation (the relationship between production team and clients) reminds me a lot of Bungie's Destiny.

I've been a very big player, max level characters, all weapons and stuff. And one day, i just stopped. Because the fun was no longer there. Too many unwanted changes, too many nerfs, too many things that were fun for the players go removed or changed, essentially removing the Fun from the game.

This article sums up very well what happened (and is still happening).

Unfortunately, the same pattern is being felt with Elite: Dangerous.

Humans tend to be the most critical with those closest to them. Elite is an amazing game and the criticizing is coming from passion for the game.

I was about to say that as a reminder to the poor devs dodging tomatoes. There wouldn't be such an uproar if people didn't care about the game. That being said, i'm not joining the angry riot because that serves no purpose but lower morale and heighten stress levels for both 'sides'. Chillax and stay positive. If you can't...well check in later on.

"We deserve"... My word! no you don't deserve a response from the head of a company after you bought their product.... Oh my God! Last week I bought a Dairy milk and the chocolate was a bit white! The head of Cadbury should be getting on the phone to me right away!

Perhaps my example was a little over the top but seriously, how entitled are you?

Eloquent, all things considered I'm happy leaving this thread with this idea.

So I guess if you have a toaster that bursts into flames every time you try to toast bread, you're good with keeping it. Stiff upper lip!

Just had a call from David, said he can't get to the internet right now but he said to tell you that the reason was "stuff happened" and you should just dealwithit.com

:)

Lol, are you people like 12 and this is the first game you played? Bugs happen, you know. And you don't deserve anything at all. This is the reality of game development. Don't like it? Don't play games. Simple.

Also, here's a video that perfectly describes people in this thread. :D

If FDEV thinks it can live off the mature, un-entitled members of the community - I'm sure it will work itself out.
Seeing as though a good many wont move from Falcon 4, i don't know if that market can sustain the personnel needed.

I AM entitled, that's what money is FOR.

It's funny to me that people like to say this industry's customers are entitled. Why did you decide to sell to them?
This is the only industry you can get away with this, because we all assume anyone who works in it is us, and we try to give them the benefit of the doubt.

This new biz model is ridiculous and unsustainable. There's so much built in hate for the consumer already.

That is speedily changing, blow the bridge once you cross it if you please. But the next sell will be harder.

Lol check this guy out

I find it quite embarrassing that people make threads like this. its really not constructive or helpful, quite the opposite really.
I just hope the FD team don't think we are all like this. I'm happy with the game, does it have issues? yes, but I am confident they will be fixed in time and more content will be coming along.

Sorry but I have read this several times and have absolutely no idea what your point is, I can't even decide who is the gdod/bad guy in this statement

As far as ED and updates. Just about every online game I have ever played has had patch/update issues and FD/ED are in good company :)
Mr Braben it is fine, I am not so important as to believe I need you to come round for a cup o tea and a nice chat...

And here is a video that perfectly describes this method of product/software development currently.
