Looks like some space pigeons took an almighty dump on your ride... the acid in that is very corrosive and unkind to your paintwork.

is this the 3301 equivalent of the argument about the size of a man's car vs the size of his........ shoes?

Nope this is the result when desire and dedication meets.. try it.. you might like it..

If you don't care, then why do you care? Switch and bait anyone?

Solo/Groups/Open all share the same universe. You think that's bad, when even in open you can't see everyone that's trading the same route as you. The logic is off. It does not make sense. Does not compute.

The only reason you need the other person to be visible in the same instance as you is... what? So you can stop them using your trade route, maybe? The one you don't need because you're so tooled up? Maybe, just a suggestion, you're just not clever enough to play the game and are now finding it more difficult to manage the running costs of all that kit. ;) Just a suggestion. Other people would call it comeuppance.

social life?

I admit, that was low and cheap and uncalled for and I apologize for being of too feeble a backbone to resist the temptation

Lol truth is, teasing aside (friendly banter of course) its a nice ship! I will get one at some point but deliberately playing it slow and spending time in all my ships. I keep them all too.

Its like if you have a new girlfriend you do not want to get to the best bits right away

I'm sure you guys can see that off-line players destroy trade routes for online players, on the rare occasion they come on-line, as soon as they are threatened they combat-log. When they finally do come online with their shiny new ships they get ate up by Vipers because they have no combat play (My Ship Cost Too Much To Die) As soon as they get some combat time and learn to fly, then the viper Pilots start moaning (Nerf The Python It's OP}

With the nerfs to trading, especially the limited supply, there is simply not enough supply to go around between on-line and off-line to co-exist peacefully. I really don't care if people want to play off-line but I don't want to finance their ability to do so without the ability to confront them.. Too many of the online trade routes are destroyed by people we can't see.. I'm sure they feel the same way about us on-line players

Ok where do we start, I could suggest page 1 in this thread as I did (a fair while back), it would answer every thing you mention but a lot of reading, I will reply as best I can as you are unlikely to read all that.

There is no "off-line" it is all on-line, its all the same galaxy, the same simulation, the only difference is the group you are in, you can be in a group of one (solo), a private group of ~ 5k (mobius pve), a group with 5 mates or a group of everyone who picks open (remember the 32 CMDR limit of P2P, that's all you will see at one time max).

You are taking the same limited supply away from Solo or group players, too many of my mobius routes are being "destroyed by people we can't see" and I don't want to finance them either (don't get it but if you are objecting to it I object in the opposite way :), I think you noticed the markets being corrected but that's a guess as you seem to think they are worse & you are being robbed by "off line" players), you say nerf, I would say balancing that is still happening.

There were times when i got wound up on this thread so much that i got warnings/infractions.
But today is a good day and i just grin :D

Maybe i really should head to the "hello kitty online" forums and demand that submachine guns get implemented....

So in other words I'm financing your off-line play because you can't afford a Walmart blue light special computer.. and I'm supposed to be ok with that?

Ok I have read every post in this thread but this is something new & I am a bit confused.

I bought this game at PB for £100, a new PC (mine was ~ 10 years + old) ~ £600, ED tracker & Tflight hotas ~ £70, Merc copy for nephew £35 etc.

Now how are you financing that?, my bank statement confirms I paid for it, if you are offering to reimburse my costs so far, I will add you to my friends list, always play in open and sell you my favourite bridge, or even my beach front property in central London, it has a great view of the ocean ;).

Damn, I was about to go play but now I gotta read the rest of this thread, I am intrigued to find out how I can get you to finance my game play.

Nice one Dave.

No.. you are supposed to be ok with it because it was clearly how the game was promised to work back in 2013, where people paid money, often because of this flexibility and without it the game may never have made its KS goal.

Seriously....... pulling the "you are financing other people" card is a joke!. What ever happened to doing a little homework before buying a game and seeing if it was the kind of thing you may like, rather than buy it and demand game breaking changes? <sigh>

Mike, I agree with research part 100%, hopefully I will understand how he is financing others in a a page or two, I just had to add something I said many, many pages back.

The problem is people not researching a bit before they bought the game.

That's a problem with the buyer, not the game.

Even I can use google & youtube (although I admit I struggle with the search option on the forums  sometimes)

To be honest dude I'm sorry I didn't do a bit more homework on this game.. Some friends talked me into getting the game, it was told to me it would be like EARTH AND BEYOND.. but now I see this game will never hold a candle to that game. After over 500,000,000 in trade, owning everything this game has to offer, and limitations with a max of 32 players per instance there was no need to even bring it on-line.

Clearly player interaction and communication was an after thought. While hundreds if not thousands are just waiting to leave this game for something that addresses and facilitates PVP, Player Interaction on a global scale, Clans, Communication, and Mutual Enemy Forces, this is all that's available.. when that game presents it's self.. the lights will go out..

Wow that's crazy, "After over 500,000,000 in trade, owning everything this game has to offer" you did that already, I am not sure if I am amazed by or sad for you, both I think but I honestly think you have burned out, I have never been involved in a beta before, I did have a "short wobble" in late beta due to playing so much in what was a beta not a game, a few days off helped, you have paid for this game if you are not enjoying it right now take a break but please do take another look in a month (or 6 if you need a longer break), you have nothing to lose other than a little time.

I have a type 6, & cobra almost all A rated & 6 mill CR, playing since PB and didn't wipe at launch.

Don't worry about us "when that game presents it's self.. the lights will go out" I doubt that will happen soon, with the low cost of the P2P infrastructure, planned DLC to be bought by many (and the cosmetics shop etc) the game will be OK for a long while, FD have made enough to keep it all going for a fair while, I believe with kickstarter & sales its > £12 million, we will find out in a few months when their figures are published.

I hope to be playing this game in many years time and enjoying it even more than I do now when we have much more content, I am in no rush to do or get anything & I am sure if in 10 years time FD said they can no longer support the game enough fans would cover the server costs (or host it) to keep the game alive.

"Clearly player interaction and communication was an after thought.", I don't agree, could it work better yes ofc but they are working on it, again give it a couple of updates, take a look on the forums every now & again but do come back, I really think you might be pleasantly surprised.

Actually I think there shouldn't be more than one version of the universe.

That's good we agree, there is only one version of the universe how can we argue about that, it is a fact.

They should not be "planeshifted" into three different versions of the same universe.

There is no "planeshifted" its a matchmaking option, everyone is in groups, some are in a group of 1 (solo) some a group of ~ 4k (mobius) and many in the other group (open).

Its part of the design of the game from the start, not a recent problem.

OK I think you won, time to find another one to win quicker than us dimwits again, good luck, have fun & fly safe o7, PM me when you won in SC too, I would like to know how to power level that game it would be an advantage as if I do join it will be an entry level ship (have you seen the prices lol).

Ps

Feel free to PM me your decent trade route too, its not like you need the CR now ;)

Lol I always have my insurance covered many, many times seen to many of "those posts", I am considering an Asp in the next week or two (no rush, I am enjoying my game) but respect to you, my goal is to have fun and I am exceeding it, if yours was to get every ship & loads of money before everyone else then you did well.

Maybe "feel sorry" was not the best phrase, maybe "in my opinion you have rushed the game, if you slowed down a bit and enjoyed the ride I think you might still be enjoying it" may have been better, either way the sentiment is the same, you paid for it already, you own it, I hope you take another look in the near future you have nothing to lose other than a little time & I hope when there is more content you will enjoy it a lot more.

Well I don't.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

I, I this and that. What stops combat players playing in solo killing high value NPC's? Nothing that's what. Baseless accusation and pointless, biased post.

There's very little point in doing that, killing NPCs in open isn't tricky, it also doesn't require risking a massive investment. However there may well be bounty hunters switching to solo to hunt in relative peace, still feels a bit cheaty though doesn't it? I think he hit the nail on the head with this (
clearly getting benefits of open, with explicit avoidance of open risks)

It doesn't matter what you're doing in solo, if you go there to make money then come back to open once you have a better ship then you're taking an unfair advantage of the game mechanics. I'm not telling anyone how to play, just saying, it is unfair, it does give you an advantage.

Granted, an advantage we're all free to take. It's just some players refuse to take that route. Weirdly, it reminds me of tax avoidance...100% legal but still morally dubious. Maybe when I get a T7 and find I can't survive with the big boys either I'll have to run to solo too. I kind of like the idea of dying at some point, starting again. Even Han Solo lost the falcon.

I have more ships in SC than I know what to do with.. If you want to power level in that game whip the credit or debit card out like I did... time is money to me...

My goal in any game I play is the be one of the best, richest, most knowledgeable, A game is only as good as the people you play with.. this game SUCKS with a max of 32 per instance this is a through back to the 90's, this game doesn't belong in 2015.. but I enjoy the people I play with.. and with the money I have I have unlimited options to have fun.

From my perspective you play too slow.. it will take you a year or two to realize you wasted your time.. I really don't play anymore.. I just find trade routes for people now, waiting for something else to grab my interest..

Sure I realised SC was P2W, $10k buys you a station etc. I was looking at the £20 ship and working my way up a bit like how I play ED, I prefer to play the game rather than pay for progression, so I think you just saved me £20, if a credit card can help you win its not a game I want to play.

I am confused though, you buy a game to play it for fun, then pay cash to avoid having to play bits of it, I wish I understood how that works. Them game designers are clever, getting people to pay not to play bits of their game, awesome.

I need to find a marketing person to convince people to pay me for not doing something, I am not bothered what I don't do as long as they pay me for it, I just need to sell it to enough people.

OK mate no problem, I thought I might be able to help in some way, we play differently and you seem to have made up your mind, I hope you enjoy the next game you play for longer than this one.

Many of us will carry on, maybe it will "take you a year or two to realize you wasted your time" but its my time, I hope "something else to grab my interest" will happen for you soon, bye then, thanks for donating to ED.

To each their own but to me sc and elite are about the journey not the destination. I can't think of a quicker way to ruin the game for me other than being destroyed for no reason than lolz by a player, than getting all the top tier ships from the getgo with cash. Some of the most fun I have had in elite was in my sidewinder

If I wanted I could buy any ship in the game aside from the anaconda but I do not sell any of my ships. I reckon I have another 10 hrs or so before I garage my cobra and get the asp. I may dust off my t7 in between however and do a few trade runs. That is how I do not get bored I mix it up to keep things interesting even tho I know this is not the most efficient.

As for being dedicated....... I do not buy that. I have real world things I have to do that are genuinly important. Elite is my hobby its a release. Sure the time I put I. I COULD have power levelled as it were and in so doing be burned out like mongo is, but for me that would have been daft. Elite is a marathon not a sprint for me. Its how I played all the other games.
