Elite has many birthdays! One for each release of the original on different systems, one for each of the sequel games, one for the Kickstarter start, one for the Kickstarter end, and of course one for David Braben's birthday when it actually met its goal.
Needless to say when the game is released all birthdays will be forgotten, including those of family members, loved ones, Christ, etc

I remember well on the KS forums nobody believing me when I said we should aim to get it funded that day. Something like 75K to make up as I recall... we'd been averaging about 15K per day at that point. 
Needless to say when the game is released all birthdays will be forgotten, including those of family members, loved ones, Christ, etc
This made me actually LOL in the office today, then had to explain to the boss what I was laughing at and we had a good reminisce over the original Elite

Happy one year anniversary Elite Dangerous. Hard to believe 1 year already and in just a month's time alpha is released. It has been an exciting ride and it will only get more so as December approaches. I know many of us are anxious for any screen shot, new video, new news of any kind, but just think sometime in December those in Alpha will be able to see a lot, and the post counts will grow and people will flock to see that people are posting. Watch for it in a post coming your way soon.

So one year ago today ED's Kickstarter campaign started.
I can't believe all the excitement, anticipation, worry, disappointment, Jontying and ultimately celebration started a whole year ago today!
That year flew! I mean it, where did that time go!?
(something I bet Mr Braben and the rest of the guys n gals at Frontier are asking themselves too!
Anyway all the best guys, here is looking forward to what we will be doing this time next year!
(little disappointed there was no official announcement or special message (or reveal) commentating this milestone)
I think a more relevant anniversary would be the end of the kickstarter when the project was funded, which was on 5th Jan if memory serves.
But yeah, getting closer to seeing some of the game in action.
As you say though, use it or not... in game and I will ignore you (not that you care much, if at all) because it bugs me. On the forum I will just keep whining like a little girl, because I want to hear what you have to say... but it still bugs me!
Do you need...help...with it, want to talk about it? I am here for you. Does 'jontying' remind you of anything, something dirty perhaps, like...the loo?

It's been a great year. Loads of newsletters, dev and fiction videos and then the Damocles video to really get the pulses going. I wonder what the next year will bring? We will be looking back on a good few months solid gameplay and celebrating the return of Elite. I wonder if we will have planetary landings by this time next year. So much to look forward to!
Perhaps we could change it to 'he who must not be named'?
