I feel that the GalNet stories are like shooting ourselves in the foot. We've been working in this system for months without any pirate presence and steadily, but slowly, making an impact. When the GalNet stories go up, people come flocking to see what there is to do, people who haven't read this forum start trading / missioning.
I've retreated to Mobius group for the time being, as the guns on my asp are bugged and won't fire.
You are quite right. We seen exactly the same thing happen when activities in Lugh were first reported in the newsletter back in November. Things got crazy for a while but it wore off.
On the upside what I would say though is that in light of the fact that we are at 95% and that FD have printed 2 Galnet contributions that it shows that they are taking what we are doing here seriously. They would not draw attention to what we are doing unless something is close to happening. We have already qualified for a war. The system is buggy so whatever FD needs to do they will do. I certainly will not be messaging numbers to tick a box for war. We have already more than done our fair share.
Galnet is drawing attention to Lugh, that is true and not all of it good because all it does is get players attention. What it does not do is teach newcomers about what is going on here. Why this is special. Why they should be helping us instead of just doing random missions. That is difficult to do in a 150 word excerpt. I wrote much bigger contributions that gave it a little more colour but unfortunately there is only so much space and so sadly editing is inevitable. But remember, by drawing attention to this FD are showing that they are ready to act at last. Otherwise it would just be another false alarm.
You have to remember that this whole project has provided a good debugging exercise for them and they might well have found it useful in fixing problems. From their point of view they may well have wanted it to go on longer than it might have.
But war is coming now. I can feel it in my water
