In his initial post (that unfortunately had a few typos in it, which he after some feed back already has corrected to) that started this thread, Michael Brookes (who I hope to keep on having his post as an executive producer of this game = responsible for any typos he _will_ make in his future posts too to the gaming community

) told us something like "the server(s) will be down for up to 30 minutes".
In fact that seemed to be quite an accurate of an estimate.
Perhaps you, dear TRYST are referring to an incident when the server down time was longer than in before hand stated...?
This is why I hate online games!
Why does one play online games then?
If one hates them, he/she doesn't have to keep on playing them... /me thinks.
I come from a MMORPG scene, called EvE Online. In that game players had one common-to-every-player server (which seems to be the case in this game too?) and another server, that existed for testing the future aspects of that game by those willing / caring enough.
The main gaming server had major expansions about every 6 months or so and it was an unfortunate phenomenom that after most major expansions they were followed by at least one "patch" that were put in the game for downgrading some things that "didn't work as intended after all".
I have been in this game only after it's official release and I don't remember having met/seen any downgrading updates. Perhaps there have been some but I haven't seen any notifications / news about that kind of patches.
Give us a pseudo server so we can play OFFLINE and avoid all this crap. We can then download patches as we want them. I don't give a damn if it can't link with the online server, I'd prefer to play without it thanks.
In EvE Online we had a maintenance break from the game _every single day_ that was scheduled to last up to 60 minutes every each time. Most days it lasted from 20 to 30 minutes, though.
No player could log on a server where he/she could have kept on playing the game without any affect on his/her development in the very game. Of course, he/she might have been able to log on the test server to keep on playing during the maintenance break of the main server but the development on that server wouldn't have had any effect on his/her achievements in the very game. Not other effect than a possible experience gain on practising "something".
I agree on that the server down times on Elite: Dangerous can be frustrating to some of the very dedicated gamers but they are not occuring every single day in this game, are they?
Let's have fun in this environment too, please
