I finally traded in my Clipper and bought the Python last night thinking that it would be great.
I have to say.... I'm not really impressed... kinda disappointed actually .
It's nice that it has more cargo space but that is pretty much negated by the ridiculous fuel consumption.
The Clipper traveling 17 LY uses about $1,400 or so, worth of fuel.
The Python uses a whopping $28,000 or so for the same trip... seriously?
Python maxes at 276 cargo space so even with a trade route that pays $1000 profit per ton, you have to subtract $56,000 from from your profit, per round trip.
The Clipper has a max 232 cargo space so... with the decreased fuel consumption, effectively it's only about 17 ton of space behind the Python.
The look of the Clipper is superior. I can't judge the feel fairly yet since I haven't added a lot of upgrades but with both ships at default stock condition, the Clipper comes out on top there too.
The Python has one more Large Hard point than the Clipper but even using just Pulse Lasers, the Clipper melts Sidewinders, Eagles, Adders, and Vipers almost instantly. It takes a little longer for Cobras but not much.
The bigger ships take a little longer of course but they still go quick.
Clipper has better speed also.
