Speaking of SC. I personally don't think its ok for CIG to split up the SQ42 story arc and then sell it in peaces. I understand that its getting larger and larger and all, but when you purchase a game, you expect to get the full story, now you are only going to get 1/3 of it (or 2/3 depend on when you backed, for instance I will get 2/3). Imagine if you purchase BioShock and told it would have this amazing story and such, but then the company says oh nvm we are going to turn it into 3 games and you are going to have to purchase the others. It just rubs me the wrong way, the idea that you are now forcing people to pay more in order to finish the story that was originally sold. But it will really come down to how much of a completed game each part feels, and how well CIG are able to split the over riding story into 3 smaller stories, along with how fulfilling each part feels. This is strictly speaking from the side of purchasing a story more so than how much gameplay would be contained. Even if each part was 20 hour of content, and as strictly from a gameplay perspective was well worth the money, i don't think its ok to force people to spend more to get what they were originally promised (story wise).

After the initial release of SQ42, if CIG release more content for it then that's great and they should charge for it. After all they should be payed for their work. But this is the case book example of a Dev removing content from a game in order to sell it as an expansion pack.

I disagree here. I don't think that they are making the stories smaller... Apparently they are bigger than originally announced in the Stretch Goals.... First episode was originally promised with 50 and now is coming with 70 missions... They are not splitting an original story, but expanded the original story and added two more big interactions of that to come... but I rather would prefer to have a 50 mission earlier than 500 much later, as its happening...

About asking DLC's I would not consider an absurd if they asked ONLY for that, but that and the continuous begging for money by selling expensive JPEG's, and after acquired 4 times the budged to make the entire game (both SP and mmo part) it's kind of reveal itself as more greedy than everyone in the game industry (well... that was pretty clear already, but that is just one more to the list), after bad mouthed the game industry originally, call them greedy and playing the saint, as Roberts did.

I mean... we have to have some insight here... One thing is to ask money for DLC's when you don't have any other kind of income or savings... Another is having 4 times beyond the budget, continuously selling expensive ships with no drop in the whales demand, and yet to ask more money for DLC's. Greedy. More than anyone else in the history of the game industry, at the same time that delivering less results than anyone too, after almost 4 years of development.

I am not saying they are making the story smaller, just that they are splitting up the original "story" and now selling it in peaces. In fact I would be happier if they were in fact making smaller stories, like how books are done. But that is neither here no there, in the end it will come down to how complete and how much quality content is contained in each single part. Also its not 70 missions, he said it was the equivalent to 70 wing commander missions. Implying that the number if missions is smaller but that each one was worth more than a single wing commander mission.

Also its everyone that is an original backer, or veteran backer that will get the 2nd part, not just those that backed before 6mil.

Common, Are you guys trolling this thread??
Cause it really seems like it, making up theory's and assuming surreal scenarios reeking of scam and deceiving...
If that's not trolling its company bashing and either way, it makes you look bad, really bad, and makes 'us' the forum, look scummy, specially because there's not a single shred of fact/evidence to support those accusations and reeks to tinfoil hat loony case's that populate comment sections of main gaming sites.

Interesting how you are allowed to post something that is both off topic, and an attack on other posters (there was even a mod post saying you can't call other people trolling, and yet you are doing that right now). If anything makes this thread look bad, its the constant personal attacks that break the forum rules that are permitted that makes it look bad, and it makes the issue those attacks look bad. If people really care about how this forum is viewed, then posters need to start refraining from such actions.

Think of this as indication of human disapointment. Bells and whistles, races, ship concept sales (especially specialised ship sales), nice adverts where ships behave cool as in ED (roll, because roll is cool), tons of shows. That's all that is known for sure.
Anything else is wild speculations and wet dreams. Sorry pals, have no faith anymore.

Badass space sim. With call of duty flight model, unplugged hotas on demos.
Point and click and strafe FTW. Anything without additional $ price tag gets no love so far...
Moronic 10 questions show. "Can we add more projectiles" oh my god.

storm is coming...

Why do you assume that they split the "original" Sq42 into 3 pieces? The second mission disc was named "Behind Enemy Lines" since the original Kickstarter campaign.

I don't think they split up the storyline at all. Initially we were going to get 50 missions as part of SQ 42 which was now expanded to 70+. You have been around long enough 1500 to know that from the very start that CIG planned to expand the SQ 42 story line into future mission pacs/dlcs. It's why Original + Veteran backers get the 2nd set of missions, post SQ 42 story line for free for backing them early. Everyone post those backing days will have to purchase the additional mission packs. Not sure why you are all of a sudden surprised about this when it was going to be like that from the start.

I think a lot of other backers are confused about this part because well, many of them are band wagon jumpers and have not read much on SC. Not surprising given that a huge chunk of the SC community have never touched a space game, let alone a flight game. But then again CIG does not know how to communicate well and there is always a lot of misrepresentation of what they actually meant because they themselves are not good at explaining it.

Ahaha not sure if serious or just manzing... how about some info about the game instead of soap operas?

I gave you information. A very important one. Was your choice to deny it as evidence, even that its a very clear one...

One that, regardless if indicates that they could have 150k or 650k backers, it means that all the releases of Star Citizen so far, failed in their objective to keep people busy, not going crazy and having some fun, because 99% (in case you believe in their counters) are not been kept busy by the CR game, are not having any fun, and possibly are becoming crazy to see exponentially more new ideas of cash grabbing than results. It's a total and absolute fiasco in terms of game and objectives presented.

Without doubt a success on motivating insane levels of cash grabbing.

Well, to be honest, that 800,000+ backers thing takes into account people who gave <$5 as well, god knows how many there are like that. So it could be easily inflated if people made many accounts like that. Those backer numbers also don't account for people who have multiple accounts set up. Heck I know a few people with 8+ accounts set up with ship packages. So its easily feasible that there might be only 200,000-400,000 backers.

A lot of people are also waiting for the finished product before they pick it up, not many people are patient with Early Access game problems or fear of burn out. I know I almost burnt out on Elite during the early days because I spent too much time playing away and when the game came out I almost stopped playing but I have been playing pretty consistently for a while now.

But with all that said, there are probably <30,000 people playing AC, not long ago CIG stated only 40-60,000 people actually ever tried AC this is PvP and PvE. When you look at the PvP aspect of leader boards, there are <8,000 people with more than 1-2 hours of gameplay in the PvP environment.

Soap operas is the fuel that drives these threads forward, didn't you know? :p

I love it when people want you to talk about the game, but hey NEWS FLASH, there is nothing to talk about. AC is still a broken and unfinished mess with the flight model since it came out 8+ months ago. Maybe we can discuss actual gameplay when they move out of the raw state the flight model is and introduce the bazillion features the ships/flight model is missing. I'm sure we will all talk more about the gameplay once the FPS module hits and of course the planet side stuff...

Even with all that stated. There is really no point discussing the game, when we barely know how much of these things will actually make it into the PU. The real discussion of Star Citizen gameplay will happen when CIG actually gives us the PU Alpha, then you can actually expect actual discussions about gameplay, features and how they behave. Until then all of this is nothing but a bunch of unfinished and broken up modules that need a ton of work.

To me it never makes sense when people talk about the "promised features" when we don't even know if CIG will be able to put them into the game let alone make them fun. Hence why I am saying, real discussion of what this game can and can't do or how good or bad will start once they actually give us the PU Alpha.

Oh I have no problem with CIG adding other story lines and such to SQ42, and I think they should charge for it when it happens. But from what CR said, its sounded like the original SQ42 story line was split into 3 parts. What CR said does not sound like mission packs, a mission pack is not the same as part 2 of a trilogy. But he has a very difficult time explaining things so it will just be a wait and see when more info turns up. At least this will curb some of the crazy unrealistic expectations that have been thrown about. Like SQ42 will be 100 hours long, or that its going to be 3 acts each with 20+ hours and you get them all for the initial price.

Ugh! CIG marketing trainees disguised as fans are now posting in the CIG Forums if people would like to buy now the "Behind Enemy Lines" campaign, when the people should be asking that for free for ALL backers, after all, the company made the money to make about 10 single player campaigns, not 3.

Picking out this bit and adding to it.
All of these individual promised features generally sound great, atleast on paper. But the part I care about and feel the details never touch on - what is the gameplay that links them together?

People talk about being a medic, but that was glossed right over because how you make that meaningful gameplay, after half a dozen "drag your mates out of danger, stick them on a gurney and dose them up to get back in the fight", where do you take that profession, how do you keep it fun, why do people want to return to it?

I think a lot of these ideas sound good but the implementation will leave a huge amount to be desired, and ultimately come down to a case of less is more.

Just catching up with this. Is Squadron really now split in to multiple parts, each with its own price tag?

Indeed, some people of questionable intelligence over there :/
