I purchased Elite just a week or 2 b4 the steam release if i had known that it was coming to steam i would have waited to buy it then but we had no warning that it was coming to steam and if there was one it was not prominent on there front page or in there store, i very much want a steam key.

Jimmy OUT!!!

A steam key would be nice, but with the level of disapointment FDev has delivered in the past, I am not getting my hopes up.

For one thing steam is a tried and tested delivery method for digital media this would take the heat off of FD and allow for the whole update and download speed debacle to be got rid of. Once everyone is on steam then it makes sense to make more out of the integration and make the game even better for all.

I bought 3 copies myself one premium beta for me and then 2 days before a surprise steam release I got copies for my brother and a friend. All of us would prefer to have it properly on steam. Soon will come the day when I come home from work and i'll have to manually update the thing myself and my terrible internet will take hours and have to skip that day on Elite and play something else.. that's gonna disturb my chi flow.

What would a Steam give me over just adding the game to Steam which is what I have done already

A fancier and more colourful launcher.

The opportunity to log the number of hours you spend in game.

The ability to write a review on the Steam platform.

Within the actual game of Elite: Dangerous itself? Nothing at all. It's the exact same product as the one available on Frontiers own website.

YES PLEASE

steam would provide the ability to share your game with family members without having to share your login via family view
THIS WOULD BE AMAZING
if not I'll have to wait till it's dirt cheap and buy a second copy which would suck as I'm poor

Don't even know what Steam is all about so my answer is "don't care." I think it's got something to do with boiling water but not quite sure. Must be awf'ly important though considering how many threads there are.

There is also native live stream broadcasting of gaming and automatically updating the game; trading cards, mods, other things that you might not care about but be sure that others do.
If one lives in an internet weak area the automatic updates are a big deal. Having the game ready when you get home from work or school or don't have unlimited time is something wanted.
Convenience; bottom line there is high demand.
There are a lot of super fans of steam, just denying keys alone would be bad for business, no matter how many times it's argued that it's stupid to demand them ( a perception difficult to change).
It is very likely telling backers that love steam, that they can't have steam keys, will increase the flames.

If backers get steam keys the late coming haters (and a couple early) are not going to be affected.

The poll should be enough by itself.

The counter argument is generally: 'I don't feel that I need it so you don't either and or you don't deserve it or it will cost an exorbitant amount of money'
Actually the more it Is discussed and argued about the more attention it gets, which favors the steam keys being given.

The thing about the review ability:
Backers are the ones that originally believed in the game and loved the concept/wanted it to exist.
Not many people would spend 150 to 300 + dollars to test a game that they weren't in love with the concept of.
Fantastic reviews would be written by people that have been testing it from the beginning.
Instead the game is being reviewed almost entirely by newcomers that have little experience comparatively, who may or may not be in love with the game concept having bought it from a larger pool of reasons.
They are the ones writing the reviews now.

I would pay an at steams rate cost recovering fee for a my game compatible steam key scenario but that would probably seem half done to many.
I am pulling for an official 'We have the steam key thing sorted out now and all of our backers get steam keys too!' --something similar

hooray

Yes I would love to have it on Steam. It is important to me! I hope they do it because it's kind of messed up to crap on the people who supported the game early.

Another big bonus is in game chat via steam to your friends.

There is LOADS of things steam delivers now that would be a brilliant addition in steam, my addy is always EdzUp so everyone should be able to locate me on steam too :)

I suppose I should tell you about this now, so that you're not too angry about it when it happens: in the future, the game will probably be discounted at some points. 33% discounts, 50% discounts, maybe even 75%! This would also fall under your definition of "crapping on the people who supported the game early", I expect.
